I am doing a poll. Would you buy a ML 63 if you had the chance to do so?

I would buy neither the Merc or the Porsche.

I would buy the Cherokee SRT8 again, however.

I would buy the AMG if they made it faster than the Jeep (quarter time).

I'd buy the new cayenne turbo. I am negotiating on an 06 Cayenne Turbo S - with 520hp for around high $70s....

If you are going to buy German, why not get one that's made in Germany and not in AL

if $ were no object i'd get a chevy suburban & an 06 m5.

but between the ml & the jgc, i'd still go with the jgc - it's a no-brainer.

I'll buy an SRT-8 and use the difference for an old Porsche 911 cabriolet.

Oh, I already have the old Porsche! I've driven new Cayennes and they are very nice... haven't been lucky enough to sample a Turbo but I'm sure they're very nicer.

But the SRT-8 I tested two weeks ago blew my socks off, and not because of the acceleration.

The quality of the interior, the infrared climate control, the rain-sensing wipers, the steering, brakes, and handling were as good as anything I've tried.

I've been trying to figure out what to replace my beloved 5-speed BMW 528i station wagon with and I think the Jeep's going to be it.

ML? Nah. Whenever you compare the two, don't forget to check out the suitcase full of cash in the back of the Jeep!

I'm keeping my GC SRT8 and with the extra money I would need to upgrade to the ML or Cayenne Turbo I'll buy the new Challenger with the 6.4; best of both worlds in my opinion.

I would never spend $85k+ on an SUV.

IF! there is a 6.4 made (haha Gore) do you think the other guys will try to keep up, or will the Jeep be trying to keep up at that point?

If you are in the market for either ML63 or CTT, you are certainly looking for more than speed alone... luxury is probably top of his her list. Plus, if money is no object, Gemballa and EVO has a pkg for CTT that will produce good #s.

Cost aside, the SRT is my best choice for a daily driver. My shop is union, I'm constantly on union job sites, and those don't mix well with expensive foreign cars. It came down to the Jeep SRT or an STS-V for me. As far as a weekend car, in that price range, I'd much rather have a Z06.

I couldn't agree more, the Jeep looks sooooo much better than either the Cayenne or the ML. And while the Jeep has had a few issues, I wouldn't want to deal with the endless problems the Cayenne seems to have.

Love the ML63 on the inside, not so much the look of the outside. some angles look awesome, other angles it looks like a minivan.

Turbo S i think looks sweet outside and also on the inside and the '07 are very fast with tons of extras

Jeep SRT8 is fast, good brakes, not scary to take 160mph except for the wind noise and could use a bit of an upgrade on the interior (but then again it is $20,000-$60,000 less that any other SUV in this class)

G55 AMG is a classy ass ballin SUV. Side exit exhaust, awesome boxy look and incredible interior and the new '07 has 50 more hp which will probably make it fast than srt8.

BMW 4.8is looks great and has a totally different feel driving and braking than all of the other cars that i like, but it is also pretty slow, slowest in the class. the new '07 styling looks like crap.

These are pretty much the SUV's in our class i would get them in this order if money wasn't a factor:

G55
Cayenne Turbo S
M63
Jeep SRT8
BMW 4.8is

But too bad money is a factor for 90% of us and that is why the Jeep sits in my driveway and the 4.8is in my dads. Once i get more money i will upgrade.

And i cant wait for Audi to step up their game and put the V12 bi-turbo diesel (can you say 500 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque) in the Q7 so we can have one more competitor in our class

Also why is it taking so long for a car magazine to have a showdown between all these cars so everyone on forums can stop *****ing about whos better.

And if you think Hennessey will actually deliver a working vehicle within the time frame you two agree to, then you are delusional. Not to mention your old parts that he'll be selling long before your vehicle is even halfway to completion.

With the way you're throwing out Hennessey's number, I wouldn't be surprised if you work for John or even are John trolling.

No one is denying that he makes some very fast stuff!! It's just that there have been too many actual customers that have had problems with delivery times, customer service, and reliablity issues(expectations??) that give many people concern for pause. It's high dollar performace, you'd definitely want to talk with other customers of his before deciding if he's right for you.

And that "10g's" will be easily made back if you blow your now boosted engine, thinking that anything is bulletproof, and now no factory warrenty.

A lot of good replies.
This one might want to rent an appartment close to Hennessey's shop while the GC is in and out of there for the year....and a few bottles of Jack Daniels

That a great idea. In fact, I thought I heard that JH bought a Motel 6 complex that is just a couple block away from his shop, and that he offers all customers who have vehicles in his shop $15 off of the normal monthly rate. If a customer ends up staying more than 6 months, then the discount increases to $20 off per month. What makes this deal especially appealing is the complimentary continental breakfast's that guests get every Sunday.

Yes, I'd get one before a Cayenne Turbo as well. Even though I understand the new engine is much improved, I would still rather steer well clear of turbo lag (especially in something that weighs 5000lbs).

IMO, ML's are very nice, but still look a bit too much like a minivan. However if I was a billionare then sure I'd buy one, of course I'd have the SRT first. I would not care to own the Cayenne, I seem to have no desire to own a vehicle that looks like the offspring of a Pacer & 911. :)

How the final design of the Cayenne got by the second person to ever see it defies comprehension. They desperately tried to fix it with the '08 model refresh but failed miserably, again. Charging the exhorbinent price that they do for this vehicle only rubs salt in the wound.

No. Both the Porsche Cayenne and ML looks are less than appealing...I would keep the Jeep and spend the money on a sports car, preferably a convertible! If you really want to go fast, go buy a new sportbike.:D

I'd get the ML63 in a heartbeat over the Cayenne, if cash wasn't an issue... But I've always loved Merc. SUVs, having driven a couple of them...

Better yet, I'll hold out for a 6.4L Jeep GC SRT8. ;)

I already ordered one ml63 but here in mexico they take a while to find one i used to own a ml500 and it was a very smooth ride. Even though the jeep is the fastest i like my range better and the ml500 y hope the ml63 meets up with my standards
