Quick history. When I picked up the rig in December, finished the paper work and walked into the back to see her for the first time. Opened the door and there she was in all of her shiny glory. Then out from in front pops a dumb ogre with a power drill in his hand "look what I did boss". Needless to say the idiot drilled my front bumper which I had told the dealer numerous times not to do. My salesperson, the owner, just about **** his pants also. So I get the holes filled and the bumper repainted. Ok. Week later I wash it and the sun was hitting the bumper just right and there was a spot where it looked like a haze under the clear coat. Take it back to the dealer, they fix it, all is good. Washed it a couple of days ago and noticed a small patch of over spray. I was going to wait for my next day off to take it to the dealer again, which I would rather shovel chicken manure than do. In the mean time my sister in law decided it would be a good idea to back her volvo into the jeep!. Cracked bumper and paint. So off to the dealer today to show him the over spray and get some estimates on the repair. I guess I am just not suppossed to have a pristine bumper on my ride??

So I get two quotes, one to fix my bumper and one to get a replacement. How do these prices sound?

To replace $1275, supposedly the cost of the new bumper is aroune 800 dollars. Does this sound correct?

I think I am going to go the total replacement because I don't see how the repared original will look the same. What do you guys think?

Yeah, I would look out for an OEM on ebay. Should be able to get your own and paint it to match for under $800

The problem with eBay is that the shipping is going to cost you a ton. The bumper has to be shipped top freight because of the size and it being fragile. Not cheap to ship, but you are better off getting a new one. The old one will never be the same, especially after you have already had it painted a few times!

And it all started with a jack a$$ and his drill. Lol. You should go back there and pop him in the head and tell him its all his fault. Lol.

He's legit...a member on the lx forums and 300c owner...nice guy who can get ANY OEM parts for cheaper than anybody!

Just had my bumper replaced and painted from some guy hitting me it was $1300. Get one off ebay as stated above and have it painted. Put it on yourself, its easy.

You should have just bought some bumper plugs and been done with it.

My sister in law is going to submit it to her insurance, so I will be going for a new bumper. I wonder if they are going to give me a fight?? I will let the body shop manager know about the ebay guy. I don't know if he is aloud to source the part from there, or if he has to go through a dealer connection? Either way it still sucks I hate leaving it at the dealer.

been there done that 8 times with my bumper. It's close but not perfect still. You will never get it back to factory paint. I'm sorry. Only advice is when they do get the color close get a clear bra put on or it will chip and peel worse then stock paint.
