Biggest Winner
Jeep 40% at 41,200 (4/06: 31,885)

The Chrysler Group deserves the biggest kudos for its 10% gain last month compared to last year, made possible by the incredible 40% jump in DSR by the Jeep brand. Chrysler and Dodge were both up too by 7.2% and 2%, respectively.

Sweet!

I wonder if DCX can string together a couple more months like this... and perhaps get past the Mercedees sale of Chrysler?

I hope so. The "sale" may have been hype/threat from the Germans to get Chrysler/dealers to do better. IMO the new Patriot should do well. Dodge/Jeep need a "crossover" to compete with the GMC Arcadia that is selling well now(a minivan that consumers think is an SUV).

The "increased" numbers for April (and earlier months this year) are mostly the results from strong Wrangler sales. If you look at year-to-date the Grand Cherokee is off 21%, the Commander -10% and the Liberty -25%. It's interesting that last month the Wrangler outsold the Grand Cherokee, Commander and the Liberty.

Interior details need a huge step up to compete with both the domestic and global competition. 2008 upgrades look like an improvement; hopefully it is enough. Based on what I've seen on other recent DCX releases, DCX clearly has NOT learned the lesson that GM is trying to incorporate in their newest product line. Ford looks like it has totally lost its "niche" in the market. SRT is a great product line for DCX, hopefully they won't forget that. A bunch of us came from BMW's and Mercedes AMG's to buy the GCSRT8. It won't last if SRT isn't allowed to evolve with the competition.

the last statement made is very true. I bought the GCSRT8 after owning A BMW and Mercedes. I love the power and the exterior look but the interior has to change in the next few years. They need to compete with the upscale modles that they are priced with. I would love a touch screen Nav like the Acura and I would love the dash of the mercedes. These little changes will increase the sale and the apperance of an already amazing car, making it the best of the best.
