I wonder what makes them think they can make a good sounding 22" when the industry has not figured out how to make a good sounding 15"

Wait a minute, I just looked at the specifications, each speaker weighs 369 lbs and requires a 4.2 cubic food sealed box or an 8.7 cubic foot ported box. It also takes 6000 watts to drive it. I wonder how you balance these with the rest of your system? LOl, must be a joke. I dare someone to put one in..

I'm gonna wait for this to be on Unique Whips.

Its a pure DB sub, nothing clean, crisp, or clear about it.

Deer, your right 15's bite! Now 3 JL 10's at 1ohm thats the ticket!!!

Sorry, but JL's suck!! Boston is the ticket.

Boston is very good also but after close to 10years in the car audio field there is no tighter, crisper bass that JL in the correct box.

Ha, I respectfully disagree. JL's are not as good as they claim. I challenge you to the Boston challenge. I still need to go to the local JL dealer. I am sure they will agree with me. :)

BTW, I have been in the audio business for over 15 years. JL makes a quality product, but I think there are better solutions to one's objective. Do you realize the JL subs require over 12" of depth to their subs? I don'e have 12" in total overall depth to my G5 box and I guarantee they sound better. Just my two cents.

What, you think JL is the best? I challenge you to go head to head. Mono y mono. JL's will loose.

Yes it is. I know my audio and JL is not it. :D

I have been building car audio for over 18 years. I think I have a little insite on what sounds the best.

18years? I had lots of 16yr olds come to my shop and tell me they had 4yrs experience. You know what that was, working on 4 or their buddies cars.... one each year.

Maybe I should test your knowledge with a few relay diagrams, Ohm loads or maybe what class installer you are with your MECP testing?

NO, But seriously all kidding aside. I know BA makes good Highs, but for good crisp subs JL has had it for years. AudioBahn has some of the best LOUD subs if they are still in biz, Kicker also loud.

You want highs Cliff Designs. Dont think they exist anymore... Or SEA.

Can you give me any RTA readings on the BA?

Sweet, so you are in the business. I challenge you to give me any test in your bible. I have seen them all. My father is an electrician by trade and as I said, I have been installing for 18 years. And no, not 1 per year for 18 years. I have been working close with a company here locally which used to be Audio King, now Ultimate Electronics. Since they were purchases, I have not done any business with them because their audo standards went to crap.

I really don't want to spar as I have seen all sorts of installs. In my humble opinion, BA makes a quality sub with better installation characteristics then the JL. Again, just my opinion.

No sparing here either.

Car Audio is a bit of opinion. What sounds good to one is crap for another. Had to deal with that everyday. You show a customer a set of 6x9's one set is Audiovox, the other is JBL I would pick out all the snare drums and high hats, and several other notes on the higher quality piece, you could barely make out the lyrics on the low end units and they would choose the low end that they though sounded better.

Used to be in the Biz. Like most I started out very young mounting my radio shack power booster to a set of home speakers, then it ran my life for some time. Small custom shop then Mngr Best Buy for way too long. Ended up training District installers, Opening stores etc. Then the corporate world got to me.

I did have a truck that would make your heart stop. Two Volcano Pro DVC 12's in a 7th order ported into a single cab toyota PU, powered by two PPI's
You could not breath in that truck. But now at 32 i am slowly loosing my hearing.

Oh well the joy of being young!!

didnt mean for this to get into a war, of what is better. everyone has there own opinion on what they like the best. lets end it saying there are both awesome subs to have in your car!!

Agree on both accounts (i.e. JL + correct box). Most are not using the correct box with proper build for their subs.

Ladies......can we stop the bickering. I hear enough of this from my girl...that's why I'm always on the forums.

Any high-end sub with the right enclosure/power/install should be the ticket.

JL, Rockford, Boston, Kicker, Diamond Audio, Pioneer, etc......I've made them all SLAM and sound good doing it....

After all, I own a car stereo shop in the Houston area and have seen a lot in my 24 years in the biz.....;)

Edit: I'll have some pics in coming weeks of the GC install and get some opinions.

WHAT?? BA better than JL in the subwoofer dept? I "think" not but that's my opinion!!! No one makes 1 sub to make everyone happy.
I'm building a 13W7 box for my GC next week that's going to be powered with a 1000/1. What BA system do you think will match it?

BTW I'm not a BA hater I've got 4 sets of BA Z6 comps and I "think" they are the best!!! No BA subs for me...

I used G5 Boston subs in mine with an Alpine 1000x1 and I really like it. Use what you wish. All subs are great and there is not much difference among them. Got my pee pee slapped so I have to be nice now. I would choose whatever fits into your budget. The only "real" advise I can offer is go with a sealed box. It will sound much better if you have the power to drive them.

Actually, it depends on the Qts of the indivual speaker as to whether or not sealed or ported is best. My 4 AWT12X's, with a Qts of .36, sounded best in a ported box.

Hey guys , don't forget the rules.

No sub can be larger than the biggest wheel. The art just isn't good. Fibonacci or something like that :)

I forgot about this one, check it out. Over 2 1/2 times the surface area of the jackhammer.

It was $5k when it came out. too expensive.

Those subs are run of the mill...I have had both and they sound decent but are nothing compared to Focal and Audiom for realistic music imaging!!! I run Focal Utopias in Everything...they are so musical!!! Image Dynamics make a really accurate sub as well!!! Oh yeh and for power...McIntosh AMPS...rediculous!!! Look them up before BOSS buys them out!!!
Hallstar Tint & Detail
P.S. For Brutality go with the ORION 12" HCCA Subs...Crazy Bass but muddy as hell and the transitions suck but it bangs for sure!!!
