: Do all new '10 Jeeps come with 2 holes in the front bumper?

I have 2 questions:

1. I specifically asked for NO front plate on the Jeep and when I got it it has 2 screws in the front of the bumper and they said it came from the factory that way (see pic). Anyone know if this is true or did the dealer drill these in?

2. My back up camera is very blurry. I checked to see if it had plastic or a sticker on it and it does not. Do others have this issue or should I take it back to the dealer for this?

The camera is very blurry. I haven't realized how blurry it is until I installed an after market front camera and switched between the front and rear views.

As far as the backup camera goes, you're not alone:

See the pic. Mine has no dimples, just 2 silver screws in the front of the bumper.

Maybe they did it since it is the Law to have a front tag in VA. When I used to work at Dodge there were no holes just dimples like everyone else said. That was the good thing about working at Dodge, I did the PDI on my SRT4 so I have no holes in the front bumper.

Yeah I know what you're saying, but I only worked with the GM on this sale and I blatantly said on multiply occasions NO HOLES and that I would be putting the plate on myself.

Def not happy about this right now and I may just run down to the dealer right now.

I would, don't let them do that to ya if you said NO PLATE,I put my plate under the bumper, and I know Corkster did too...you should be the one to decide if you want it or not, they look so bad on the bumper...they aren't going to be happy, but get a new one.

Thanks AZDEUCE. Seriously, if I am buying one of your most expensive vehicles you sell, I think I have my own say so. I had 2 requests, NO dealer decals, plates, tags blah blah. And No Holes drilled into the front bumper. I really don't think that is me asking for too much. And especially when it was special ordered for me, not like it was just sitting on the lot and I go "Oh what's that?"

What dealer? Did you order it or was it on the lot? If it was on the lot they might have done that when the did the PDI.

Try to get them to replace it or atleast warranty it.

Yea no holes in my 2010 either, nor the other 4 they have on a lot up here.
My Charger had two holes in the bumper and that pissed me off big time. Bought it 6 months old though so I coulnt do anything but fill them with bumper plugs.

I ordered the Jeep, it was not on the lot. They showed me the PDI which stated the bumper had been delivered with the 2 front screws installed for plate. Not sure if its bc it was delivered to VA which is a 2 plate state or not. I don't think they are going to replace the bumper, so I think my only choice is to fill the 2 holes.

My 2010's build info that ResumeSpeed sent me had this item listed...

MDA Front License Plate Bracket

Whether the dealer installed it or the factory I don't know. But they didn't have it off the truck long enough to do much before I showed up to test drive it, and the bracket was there then.

That sucks, they still shouldn't of put the screws in. I know when I did PDI's I didn't put the front tag on any car that I would think someone wouldn't want a front tag (chargers, rams, neons, etc).

Same here wink. The Jeep rolled off the truck around 4:30 and 5:30 I was there waiting (with a huge grin of course!) My report also said Front License Plate Bracket, it must be a factory thing where it get put in for certain states.
Ugh now what do I do, bolt the front plate on there??

On a side note, according to my dealer, the blur of the camera is due to the fish eye lens that it points more directly below the bumper that's why images farther away so that why images in the back-up cam seem to blurry. I personally believe its just a shi**y camera that was installed. I have seen $50 back up license plate cams that have a clearer image than the new Jeep. I'll stop singing my sad song bc I love my new Jeep, I just wanted it to be absolutely perfect!

You could try a site like this or something more local to you. Since it's black it should hide the holes pretty well...

Sorry to hear that man. I just picked up my 2010 on Weds and I requested the same thing. DO NOT DRILL HOLES IN THE FRONT BUMPER, fortunately for me, they didn't.
It should come with just three dimples, no holes or screws.

they don't come from the factory like that. Dealer drilled those holes. I would live with it though because if you have the bumper repainted it will never be the same!

That's probably right. My build info also has...

906 Colorado State Code

And front plates are mandatory here.

Mine's not that clear either, but neither was the one on my Infiniti. I just figured they all put crappy cameras on vehicles. Or maybe there's not a better camera that will work with the auto electronics.

Ok,just to clarify some misconceptions that are flying around here...

Vehicles that are coming out of factory storage have dimples only regardless of if the state requires one or two plates. I am in New Jersey which has always been a two plate state and when I was searching for my perfect SRT was at two different dealerships besides the one that I purchased mine at. They all had dimples only, then I see one pulling in (someone ordered it) and asked about the front plate holder on the one pulling in and was told that one came from a different dealership lot NOT factory storage.

That is why when I ordered mine I insisted it come from factory storage and not another dealerships inventory.

I had the SAME exact issue - I picked up my SRT in Maryland and specifically told the sales person NOT to drill any holes in the front bumper because I was going to mount the plate in the lower grille like some folks here did. Lo and behold, I come over to take delivery and I see a license plate bracket with their (dealership's) logo on it. Initially I got upset, but after giving it some thought I decided to keep the bracket and mount the plate on it. This way I can use it as a bumper protector (helps with those crackheads that parallel park their cars by smashing into bumpers of vehicles in front and behind them).

I also remember reading a thread here about bumperplugs.com - they sell little plugs for bumper holes. All you have to do is paint them body color.

I believe that code calls for the BOM and tells the assembly line to include a front license plate bracket and throw it in the rear cargo area with the other junk.

As soon as the vehicle arrives at the destination, the dealer prep SOP kicks in and they start drilling holes.

Its a dealer policy and procedure thing, most corporate owned dealers make it mandatory where it's required by law - they don't like lawsuits. The basic fact is the GM or sales rep you dealt with either fell asleep at the wheel or they ignored your request.

I told the fleet manager at my dealer, drilling holes in the front bumper would be a deal breaker.

Good luck with the bumper plugs.

They sell snap in plugs for this. A lot cheaper than body work. I used them on a Mustang some years ago.

Jeep was ordered and came on a train from MI to Jessup, MD where it was put on a truck and then brought to VA. Did not come from another dealer.

Most likely the case. I really don't like the holes, but at the same time it took them about 3 weeks just to get me that one and I was carless, so I guess I had to make the decision so I'm gonna have to live w plugs or a plate. Just irritating when you ask them multiple times about something and they want your business but it never seems to go just how you want it IMO.

The cameras are crap. But if they weren't some jackass would pry them off. Ever see an infiniti or merc with a big ugly hole on the back ?
