: Stainless Braided Brake Lines: Kit Development.
Go~RillaWRX 04-30-2007, 07:27 AM Ok, so I am working on all kinds of suspension and brake solutions for our trucks and the first company to really pull through is Goodridge for the brake lines. This is the response i got:
Hi Greg,
If you can get us a sample set of the brake lines (Front & Rear, Right & Left) we can look at the kit
and see if we can make a kit.
If you can send us those samples, we can send you 1 free set of lines and I can get you set up with
a distributor that can do your group buy.
Thanks,
Michael Klapp

So, I am going to my Jeep dealer this week to order a set of brake lines. I just wanted to let you guys know this was really going to happen. Lets start posting in here if you are definitly interested. In my past experience, these kits run right around $100. I will keep everyone informed.
FastSRT8GC 04-30-2007, 08:01 AM I for sure will want some. One question, do you have any pipe/hose or hydrolic shops near you? I know down here I was able to get a SS line re made they had all the fittings and the SS lines(quality-mid grade). This might be a lot cheaper if you are buying the factory ones for samples. You would be going directly to the source of the hose supplier.
Go~RillaWRX 04-30-2007, 08:35 AM Well that might be a cheaper route for one set, but I was hoping to help out the fellow members here and get a bunch of kits made. Goodridge makes great kits, they even inlude little rubber brackets to mount the line to the factory location.
Dr.Steve 04-30-2007, 08:41 AM definitely interested :)
BuilderBill 04-30-2007, 09:13 AM definitely interested :)
I would be in.

GotStroke? 04-30-2007, 09:42 AM Me as well.
sunnysrt8 04-30-2007, 10:19 AM I would be interested as well.
I was actually talking to one of the mechanics at the Homestead SRT Track Exprience this weekend about the Jeeps brakes and how they hold up on the track. His one recommendation was to change out the rubber lines to braided lines because where the rubber hose connects to the steel line by the caliber can crack under heavy stress, like running it on a road course.
Go~RillaWRX 04-30-2007, 11:36 AM ^That is one of the many benefits of braided lines. As well as giving a more positive feedback under heavy braking. The rubber lines can expand with heat and pressure leaving a slopping feeling under braking. Any vehicle with a sloppy feeling pedal will benefit greatly from this mod. The Jeep has a nice pedal feel, and I have yet to push the brakes to the limit, but i am sure the rubber lines will expand when you heat the fluid to near boiling. Also, when we get these lines, I would suggest going to a high performance brake fluid such as ATE super blue (my personal fav) or RBF 600 ( found this started to deterioate the inside of my WRX's master cylinder). These two mods with maybe some nice slotted rotors will all you could ever need (dont buy drilled, the best braking systems in the world use slotted or solid, as the more surface area the rotors have in contact with that pad, the better the bite, as well as the more surface area= more area to dissapate heat. The slots work great in two ways: one to slightly scrape the pad of any pad material that is no longer usefull in braking, and two: to vent the gas build up between pad and rotor.)
gut2727 04-30-2007, 11:41 AM I am interested as well.

I already have changed out to the high temp ATE fluid along with EBC Yellowstuff pads. Last road course event I had no issues at all but want to add to stainless lines to keep it that way. Thanks for the info and looking forward to getting some nice lines!!
Go~RillaWRX 04-30-2007, 01:35 PM Cool. So how do you like the yellowstuffs? I havnt used any of EBC's products and have heard mixed reviews. How did they hold up to repeated high speed braking? Fade? Chunking? Glad to hear some of you guys really flog this jeep like its supposed to be flogged.
mrfreeze 04-30-2007, 04:25 PM im in..please keep us update on the progress

The yellowstuffs held up great on the track. They squealed like no other when I first put them on but after a few really hard stops they hardly made any noise. No fading at all on the track and they actually had a better bite as they got hotter. I left them on for now and they are pretty decent as daily drivers but I do think the stocks bite a little better. They also have a fair amount of dust but that is expected with high performance pads.
sunnysrt8 05-16-2007, 11:20 AM Hey Go~RillaWRX, Any update on the development of the brake lines?
Go~RillaWRX 05-17-2007, 12:23 PM Sent the stock brake lines to Goodridge on tuesday. I will let you know as soon as i hear from them.
D-man 05-17-2007, 12:33 PM I'm in! (Unless they're outrageously over-priced). THis made a "huge" difference is pedal feel on C4 (Vette).

Very good,I'll be in for this mod.

12SECUV 05-18-2007, 12:09 PM I'm in...just ordered new rotors and pads...lines and high-temp fluid need to be next. Thanks for getting this rolling.

Hey Go~RillaWRX, Any update on these brake lines yet? Thanks!
Chris@LPM 06-12-2007, 05:16 AM I'm also interested.
Go~RillaWRX 06-12-2007, 10:43 AM Good call. Gotta call that dude again. Thanks for the reminder. I will let you know.
Go~RillaWRX 06-13-2007, 12:37 PM Bad news guys. Goodridge fell through. The guy said he would have to have 250 pre orders... i dont think thats going to happen. He said that the SRT8 has different fittings, odd fittings, fittings that would bring the cost for the first set to $800, and he would have to make the money back. He said the executive in the company did not see any profit in it...but if they continue to get demand and more vehicles with the same brake lines come out (or jeep sells a crapload more SRT8's) then they will test again.

Go~RillaWRX 06-13-2007, 12:38 PM I think I am going to call stoptech again, see if they can put a package together for us w/ nice two peice slotted rotors, and brake lines.

Again... I am on board with the (2) piece rotors and SB lines.
