: NEW WK2(2011) Grand Cherokee info and a hint at the 2012 SRT????
scottina06 04-11-2010, 12:09 PM New info was just posted by the owner of wk2jeeps.com <staff edit> that the new 2011 Grand Cherokee WILL HAVE front and rear electronic diffs. He also hinted at new info on the 2012 SRT8. I would look into wk2jeeps.com the next couple weeks for (hopefully) more info on the 2012 SRT8 Jeep
He also hinted at new info on the 2012 SRT8.
Can you Quote what was said, rather than everyone looking through every page to see what the hint was?

Just being honest here. Anyone with me?

Scoop55 04-12-2010, 01:45 PM The only hint I could find was under "engines".
Yeah, that's the only place I could find anything as well. It said:
6.4-liter V8 HEMI (2012 model year?)
A 6.4L-liter V8 HEMI with MDS has been approved for production, and unless cancelled is set for a possible debut in the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8. Other models rumored to receive the new engine are the 2012 models of the Grand Cherokee SRT8, 300C SRT8 and the Charger SRT8. The new engine was derived from the 540-hp "392" crate engine that was introduced by Mopar at the 2005 SEMA show in Las Vegas. The production version is expected to produce anywhere from 470-hp to 510-hp.
robjeep 04-12-2010, 01:58 PM Milous seems to have good intel gauging his previous posts.
I hope he is right. But, since I am getting a 2010 I can wait 3 or 4 years and then think about a new one.

QuickOne 04-12-2010, 05:52 PM OK...When Milious and RS chime in with factoids like that. I'd take that bet ALL DAY LONG!
I am going to start trying to figure out how to break it to my wife that I already want a new Jeep! I'm going on 4 months and 7k miles.
I love this version, but the enhancements will qualm most of my issues with the current edition.
Can't F'in wait!!!!
Hopefully they have a 2014 model....
jazzznar 04-12-2010, 05:57 PM hopefully they make a white one
GreenMachine 04-12-2010, 11:43 PM If it's still around in 2014 or 15 it'll be something to think about. After they fix all the problems they are bound to have the first year or two of the new production.
scottina06 04-13-2010, 03:27 AM Jeep has really gone to extensive lengths to make this model better. there are huge improvments across the boards.....
D VADER 04-13-2010, 09:24 AM The 6.4 sounds awesome but I'm afraid it woild scare the sh!t out of me!!

I agree. Now they are going to have to go through the same routine again with the new production model, motor, tranny, etc. No matter how much work they do(or any car manufacturer) they usually don't get it right until a few years in. JMO anyway.

while i personally agree with your point, probably best to keep all this to yourself.
if no one bought the 06 SRT8's there would not have been any subsequent models......just some food for thought.
QuickOne 04-13-2010, 12:54 PM There's more people out there who "JUST GOTTA HAVE IT 1ST!!" that holding on to they fix things isn't going to sway those people. Plus, the people who gotta have it, usually don't care about price and pay full price and sometimes more for "Market Adjustments".
GodfatherSRT8 04-13-2010, 02:01 PM Sounds just like me when I bought my 06

bee3633 04-13-2010, 04:43 PM Until it's in production it doesn't mean anything. Chrysler mite not even make it that long.
brianm 04-13-2010, 05:27 PM If its out in the states in 2012. It will be 2013 before they hit the uk
YogiSRT8 04-13-2010, 06:19 PM Im relatively new here, little over a year, but were there really that many problems with the 06? And, isnt that what warranties are for. FTR i got one of the first 200 z06's and i have not had one issue with it, not one. Maybe i am just lucky.
BillionDollarDan 04-13-2010, 07:01 PM The 6.4 sounds awesome but I'm afraid it woild scare the sh!t out of me!!
lol i call bs
you know that as soon as a 6.4 is available you'll be lookin at it and thinking "should i?"
if a 6.4 is available in 2012 i'd probably go for it

No. The biggest issues for the 06 were that in auto stick it was tough to not hit the rev limiter when shifting from 1-2 (that was fix with the TSB that automatically shift from 1-2) and the brake squeal.
I had an 06, and those were the extent of my problems for the 22K miles that I owned it. Those saying there were "issues" obviously did not own the 06.

I'm going to have to agree with bee3633 here. It's easy to hint at a lot of things, but the hard part is following through. It's also important to notice that this economic downturn really hasn't improved at all and with the way Chrysler is struggling now, I have no optimism for production of Chrysler "supercars" in the future. I would certainly love to see a 2012's but I'm not going to cream over a vague statement which can easily be misconstrued. Just my 2 cents. Sorry to be a pessimist.
But with all that being said, I love the fcuk out of the Jeep SRT8s that are around today and wouldn't trade mine for anything. Appreciate what you have

No there are not so many problems with '06's........I owned one for about 2.5 yrs (from new) and just about 30k miles.....any issues were fixed under warranty (like any other car). The Jeep was used everyday.....:)...and yes I still own a Jeep SRT8...bought another new one last year....
