: Sub options...

Just planted a subwoofer in my jeep. I asked for extra bass that would flow with the factory system, sound good inside, and not let the people next to me know I had something jamming when my windows are up. The shops I used set me up with a single 10", enclosed box, coupled with a sony 1200 watt amp...After some tuning and a few adjustments, this system does exactly what I was looking for. If anyone shares a common interest (i.e. not to compete in bass contests but to have a clean sound that meshes with the factory system) then I would recommend this. The sub has alot of room to play, it's only turned up to 1/3 capacity.

Post some pics mang. I would like some more bass to complete the fill in the missing sound and I could care less about a DB contest.

Getting late tonight, but I'll take some when I get home tomorrow. Not exactly sure how to post the pics once I download them to my harddrive.

I'm a fan of quality over quantity myself, just a preference.

Thanks.

Search the posts for my installation. I used Boston G5's, 12" in a sealed enclosure. It will tear your head off will quality.

Didn't mean to offend anyone, I'm not doubting the options for quality. My suggestion was for those who may not be adding anything else to the factory system but want a lil extra bass that won't overkill the factory setup.

Where did you get the tv for the headrests? How hard is the install?

I bought my jeep in Naples Fl. before I moved. The manager gave me the option of overhead or the two in the headrest. No brainer, 2 headrest 7 in monitors with their own dvd/cd/mp3 player and separate AV jacks for playstation, etc. Plus you can watch separate movies or watch one movie on both. They have their own headless headphones and remotes. Dealer installed it. $200 more than overhead player. The SRT guy at that dealer ordered them, wired them and gave me the factory headrests.

I haven't figured out how to get them to play over the car speakers, not sure if it does.

Can you give me the Number to that dealer or the guy you worked with. I would love that set up for my jeep.

That little speaker set up looks cool and I'm sure sounds perfect. I got a quote today for a similar setup with a 400w rocksford fosgate amp and a kicker enclosed box very similar to that for 440.00 installed. i think i'll jump on it next pay period.... want some thump inside the car for me while keeping the mids and highs from the factory.

That's exactly what I wanted. I payed $450 installed, that included everything (i.e. adaptor cable to plug into the factory unit and also the quick disconnect that is in the storage compartment. One disconnect and everything is out of the truck and the wires are all hidden, takes less than one minute to remove it completely. The back drape fits right over it, so you see nothing when you walk by. The installer also fooled around with the setup, adjusted the amp to about 1/3, then set the bass on -2, mid on +4, and treble on +7. No vibrations, the BA speakers don't bottom out and its crystal clear. I was actually impressed how good the factoryh setup sounds with the extra bass, almost seemed like he did something to them.
Good luck!

With those type you will have to install a FM modulator. You will loose a bit of sound quality but it works!

Is that similar to the FM setup for an ipod? A transmitted signal?

similar yes. Most of the ones we used to use for TV's were a direct intercept at the antenna for a clearer signal unlike the I pod one that just broadcasts from where ever you have it. PAC industries should have them or

With this vehicle, there's a lot of options when I think about custom fabrications. My first thought is underneath where the spare tire would normally go. Of course we would have to figure out how to port the acoustics inside. You can make a molding of spaces under the dash for example as another place. My thoughts on occupying space that could be used anytime for something else is why I would be interested in something perma like and out of the way. Once somebody starts something like this, I'm sure a group buy could get started and the cost shouldn't be so bad and most likely would leave us with a choice of options for bass.

Anybody know of anybody that specializes in this area? You can put me down for a buy!!
