I just got a , 180 TSTAT, I know a lot of people adjust there fan settings..but my tune was is locked. Is there still any point to install , 180 TSTAT without adjusting fan settings?

You can install the tstat but won't realize the full benefits without adjusting the fan settings. You should be able to select your tune and then modify it before loading it.

Yup Ekaz is right! Also check with your tuner to see if you he modified it on your tune, if nopt you can do what Ekaz said and go in there and see for your self if the fan settings match the ones that CentralTexHemi has on one of his threads on here.

In traffic you will run the same temp. When moving it will lower to 185 ish.

I ran a 180 t-stat without my fan settings changed for a while... Untill I noticed my engine temp at a red light would slowly creep to to 215... then I start moving and it will fall back to 190ish...

I changed my fan settings because I didnt like how the temp was always fluctuating everytime I stop moving.

Generally you set your low speed fans a few degrees higher than your tstat, Medium speed fans about 6 or 7 higher and high speed fans the max you want your temps to get. In a 180 case, I'd probably go 195 ish.

We dont have Med fans so you can leave those at the stock settings, there are 2 settings on the Diablo for fan settings on for AC/On and AC/Off, anywhere is says MPH LOW set it to 185, anywhere is says MPH HIGH set it to 190. If you do not plan on adjusting the fans to the 180 t-stat dont bother putting it in as it will not help.

Ok, I am a complete newbie when it comes to tuning and adjusting fan speeds, so bear with me....

What tuner (Diablo Predator or Trinity or other) would I need to change fan settings, or could I have a shop flash the PCM as a one time deal? I also get fluctuations in temps when I'm not moving, and I hate to blast the heater at stop lights or city traffic in an effort to lower my temps. (even though it does work... )

Yeah pick up a Diablo Predator handheld and a 180-T stat which some of the vendors on here carry (cant find one at auto parts store), some of the vendors have package deals with both included so check them all out. Once you get both there is a step by step t-stat install on here which is very easy to follow and you can ask for help from me to set you fan settings when your ready.

Look for a Motorad 4128 or similar. That is the 180 tstat that will fit your Jeep. You can resuse the rubber O-ring as long as you don't damage it while removing it. It can be found at most auto parts stores.
You will need a predator or trinity to change the fan settings, the PCM can't be flashed directly.
In your case, I'd go with the predator, its more cost effective.
