: Best 'Wet Look' Tire shine for the Jeep?

Even the OEM tires stick out just enough to sling tire wet all down the side. I like the wet look of the aerosols, but not one I have tried sticks, even with a day of dry time. I have tried several.

The brush/pump type donesn't really look wet after a few minutes.

Any thoughts?

I'm anxious to hear about this as well. I've used "Black Magic" spray, but as the OP said, it just flings off after driving, leaving wet greasy spots all over :(

I love the way this stuff looks, and holds up for about 2 weeks of washing or rain.

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/416f5cQZVQL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

I can get it not to sling ONLY if I put it on and let it sit overnight when I put it on with a tire swipe. Otherwise I have had no luck with other spray ons that will not sling all over the side.

Spray on, wipe, let sit for 10-15 minutes, wipe again and viola no sling!

+1. What I use, except mine is the purple stuff.

Get it doesn't sling if you let it sit and don't overload it. Will last through rain and everything!

Thats EXACTLY the stuff I use on my other cars... Until the jeep... Slings on my jeep... even with one light coat. :(

If you wipe it as suggested... then it doesn't have the wet look.

Yes it does. You're not doing it right. :D
You have to do 2 coats on the tire, wipe off, let sit, wipe off again. Then shine comes back. Trust me.

Do you want super glossy or no? If you're not a huge gloss fan, Ultima's Tire stuff is sweet. I use 4 Star's tire stuff, it's basically the same as the Ultima with some different formulations. Both are water based so you're not going to have to worry about them killing your tires. That said, they don't last very well in the rain. If high gloss is your thing, then I'd suggest the Armor All Tire Gel. It's also water based, so again safer for tires. I use this on my gf's car (she likes the high gloss tire look). Meguiar's has their endurance gels in both high gloss and normal, but those are both silicone based. Better for durability, but worse for your tires.

A lot of people love 303's tire stuff. Again, water based, but you can layer it for different levels of gloss. 3 layers tends to be high gloss. I've heard a lot of praise for Surf City Garage's "Beyond Black" tire stuff, though I haven't used it. Black Magic has a water based tire gel too, but it's more of a deep matte look.

autogeek.net is out of stuart, they've got some of the best stuff you can buy right there, and you can pick it up during normal business hours. Mike Phillips is also one of the best detailers in the country (maybe the world), and he works for them now.

Thanks for the input... I definitely like it to look as wet & glossy as possible. I submitted this question on the autogeek.net site as to which of their products they'd recommend. I'll try whatever they recommend and report back..

And I'll try the other suggestions posted as well... And the 'trick' technique for the NXT to work right... could be operator error again :p

A quick pict of my collection of tiresprays... pretty funny!

^^^ Somebody call a Hazmat cleanup team STAT!! LOL!! But seriously, I just bought some of that Meguiar's Hot Shine yesterday. Put it on yesterday afternoon, so we'll see how it works (or doesn't) today on my way to/from work. I did 1 coat, no wiping off. I looked but didn't see any of the "purple" version others have talked about. But if there's no diff I don't really care.

One is a high gloss version and the other isn't. I can't remember which color is which. The high gloss version says it on the bottle though.

Trust me on this one. Please.

Surf City "Beyond"

It NEVER, EVER, EVER slings, and it stays on the tire. You can drive in 5 minutes after applying. I swear.......NEVER, EVER, EVER slings.

I buy it at PepBoys here in Pittsburgh. Costs about $12-$13 per spray bottle.

I've always read that the SCG tire dressing is a low gloss satin type finish. Heard lots of good stuff about it though. Actually, all the SCG stuff I've used has been great.

I use that same stuff, best tires shine EVER...and it smells like grape! :oogle:. The clear one is ok, but doesn't last as long.

As long as you don't over-do it and you let it sit or a little while, it won't sling onto the sides of your truck, and it will last through multiple washes.

I can't find the purple one anymore  , not sure of any difference but the purple smells incredible for tire shine!

I don't know if it's the same where you live, but here in the Phoenix AutoZones (at least the locations that I go to), for whatever reason they don't put the purple Meguiar's tire shine next to the other tire shine products, it's usually by the Eagle 1 collection.

Yeah, I love putting it on in the closed garage, so the garage smells nice. All you need is a thin layer and the shine is on there for weeks through rain and all.

I sent him 2 bottles of it

I like the Meguiar's purple stuff too. The only problem I had with it was that it would collect a lot of dust and dirt. Every once in a while, I would have to hit the tire with a stiff bristled brush before reapplying.

No Tire Shine!!! Thats Ish Is The Worst.

You're the worst! :p Tire shine is needed.

Just make sure during each car wash, you use Bleach White (do it while you are doing the wash and make sure it is rinsed off before application of shine) on the tires to get rid of the old applications so you have a clean surface!

My local Shmucks started carrying it several days go, I shined them up tonight for my hot azz Thai date, while it may not of dropped the panty'z tonight, a second date is coming. PUN intended! She was climbing in the beast and said "your grape air freshener is awesome". My Beast is still new, I so dont use air freshener, thats what suede is for! Or is it faux suede?!

Can someone please help me????
I have tried every tire dressing, all have flung onto the car.
Last week, I tried the surf city beyond hoping for different results.
Same thing. I even wiped the tire down after first coat.

Is the trick to wipe everything off that was put on so there is no fling?
What am I doing wrong???

I appreciate the input... But I am convinced that the OEM GoodYear sidewall design is part of the problem... All those vertical ribs.. (I assume for her pleasure)... trap a ton of 'extra' liquid or gel... I have just been sponging on the liquid with a foam applicator, and being very light over the ribbed area. Until I get a new set of tires... and ditch the GYs ... I haven't been able to make wet look worth the clean up mess.. I think new tires with a smoother sidewall will fix 'most' of the problem.

Anyone else out there with the Nittos,Invos, etc having better luck?

Yeah i understand where your comming from, just gotta be really careful and yes the grooves are tough....I just picked up a set of Nitto NT05s and my tire cleaning should easily be cut in half....i'll let you know how it goes....

also use the gel here! i let it sit overnight before driving and i find that it kind of soaks in a bit

WestPalmBeachSRT8

I think my initial thought was right.. The ribs on the GYs hold extra tire 'wet' and it can't be wiped down. My new smooth sided BFG KDWIIs (fantastic tire BTW) have no such grooves, and are slinging zero tirewet on the side of the jeep... The smooth sides also lend themselves to using a sponge applicator and not just spraying on a thick coat from an aerosol can.

Thanks for all the input on this along the way!

Zymol IMO works the best- This stuff was nasty (I say was because trying to find the original formula is almost impossible which makes me wonder) but 2 coats of this stayed on the tire rain or shine 3 weeks. Always had to spray it while the car was on the street because the stain that was left on the driveway lasted for months! 12 oz will cost about 30 but lasts the longest and looks the best- 2nd Mequiars

See, I am not a very big fan of the SUPER glossy or wet look at all. I prefer a "clean and BLACK" look....and I have been using Black Magic Titanium Matte Finish for that. It does a wonderful job, it's water based so it dries very quickly and won't sling EVER.

But... To each their own, and if anyone does NOT like the wet, shiny look but prefer a clean new tire look.... this is the BEST stuff on the market that I can find.
