: SRT Option Group II
robjeep 04-06-2010, 11:46 AM The SRT I am looking at does not have option group II. Is this something I am going to sorely regret not getting and if so how hard is it to replace the headlights with the lights that are in group II?
Thanks for any advice.
tugboatchad 04-06-2010, 11:58 AM $1150 for just the housings. you will not be able to do the self levelings like OEM. If you can get the option group II if these things are important to you. Just my $.02.
Knuckles 04-06-2010, 11:59 AM basically my Option 2 has the Auto Leveling HID Lights and also the rear DVD Entertainment and also the heated seats in the rear. You can live with out this package, but you can also buy a set of HID housing and they cast about 400 to 500 each. Not sure how everything else works out , but I have heard the sauto leveling will not work on them. I would so some research on here as there are afew that have installed the HID Housing on their Jeep.
RIDKLIS 04-06-2010, 09:23 PM I got mine without option II and did the factory Projector housings last weekend. Auto leveling didn't really matter to me, apparently they don't move a real noticeable amount anyway. Entertainment package isn't available in the 2010 and I didn't care about the heated rear seats since I rarely have backseat passengers. Everything worked out for me, I'm sure you can do the same.
Just know that the factory HID housings do not wire up to the factory halogen harness. You'll need to do some light modifications to the xenon housings.
robjeep 04-07-2010, 06:28 AM I don't care about the heated seats in the back either (I don't have kids and I will not be sitting back there, hehe). What had to be done type of modifications had to be done to the HID housing? Just electrical? If so that is fine, I fairly good with electrical, not so good with anything that needs significant mechanical modifcations.
I guess another question is how much better are the HIDs than the halogens? I guess if they are not significantly better this is not a big deal anyway.
Is there an aftermarket kit to change them out, instead of spending so much on the factory housings?
bcm0018 04-07-2010, 06:34 AM I mainly got it for the HIDs!

Yeah the modifications are all electrical. If you've ever installed a HID kit with ballasts + relays you'll understand the process. The halogens aren't bad at all but compared to the HIDS it's a night and day contrast (no pun intended).
To modify them, I did some soldering, which isn't required, but I think it worked out better. If you get the new housings and have any issues with the install I'd be happy to help and I know other members are much more knowledgeable than myself.
As far as an aftermarket option, I believe there is one, however they're really not my cup of tea. I'm also not sure if they're compatible with the 08-10. Here they are:

Crookster777 04-07-2010, 08:28 AM ^Those will NOT fit the 08-10 SRT Jeeps and regular GC's for that matter.

Yep, that was why I got it as well.
And when I do have back seat passengers they like the heated seats back there too so it works out well :D
Crookster777 04-07-2010, 08:32 AM I am glad I got option group 2. But yeah I mainly got it for the HID's also.

I figured that. Do you know if they ever made ones that were compatible with the newer WKs?

I've also had little kids in the car a few times and the tv keeps them nice and quiet

Rear Entertainment isn't an option in the 2010. Not sure if the OP is looking to buy new, but thought I'd put that out there :o
robjeep 04-07-2010, 09:32 AM Thanks for all the replies. I will not worry about the option 2. I can do the HID replacement.
suzieque 04-07-2010, 11:43 AM in theory, a "loaded" model resells for more than a non-loaded model. so not only do you have to think in the context of what you want today with respect to options, but also how it may affect the vehicle resale in the future.
just my opinion. :)

Not to hijack the thread or anything - but does anyone know if the rear entertainment system is available as a dealer-installed accessory? Removing this equipment from an options list was a dumb idea on Chrysler's part.

have a read here. http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_dvd.htm
I wonder if the VES option was removed from the SRT8 only.
silverbullet 04-07-2010, 11:39 PM Hmmmmm wonder if I can do a swap out on my 08 and get the 9" screen from the 09's?

I would try and find one with Group II. The HIDs are nice, real nice.

I believe that a member on here (hoseclamp) had the dealer install the rear entertainment system.

It was removed from all models of the Grand Cherokee, and also on several other Chrysler models. It will be a returning option for the 2011-up models.

I was going to do this as well but most people are switching to headrest mounted displays instead of roof mount.
