: Rear Bumper Removal HELP?

I got my tinted tails in yesterday and needed some help with removing the rear bumper. I heard it was a chore and was curious if anyone's who done either a hitch, lighting mod or tinted tails could provide some help, pictures especially.

Thanks!

Matty

If it is just the tails you do not need to remove the bumper, or are you replacing the fog lamps too?

Here are the directions for the rear fascia removal (2005 models but similar for SRT):

I'm doing all 5, including the fog lamps. Thanks very much for the link, it's PERFECT! Now I don't have an excuse for doing it right away...

Wrongo Matty...hop on it in the am, pretty easy. I used a drill to open a hole to access the damn hidden screw that holds the one side of each of the the fog lamps. The complete fascia removal seemed like quite a project for 2 tiny screws.
Let us know how it goes!

Bill,

I'll need to take a closer look, from what I heard/read before, without circus midget hands to access the fog lights the rear bumper removal was a requirement. I'm all about doing it easier, don't get me wrong, and I'll give it a shot. Can you give me an idea of where I need to be drilling the access holes? Inboard/outboard...?

Thanks!

Hope your going to post some picks.. What did it cost (tinting) to do it? If you don't mind me asking?

Thanks,

T-time,

(Kewl azz avatar pic...) I'll definitely get the pics up, let me 2x check with the 402 crew on pricing; I had another set for my Excursion done while I was at it, and had to buy the '07 set of tails (all 5) for a core, which if I recall correctly was $225, which I'll get back when I send my old ones in. Their exchange is definitely the way to go, ZERO down time for your ride, just pick your tint "flavor" (light/medium/dark[show]) and wait for 'em to show up. Now all three of my rides will be sportin' (medium) tinted tails from 402! Sweet...

Thanks for the info. I hope to give them a jingle on Monday. The tints on your Magnum were dark, right? Is medium tinting Legal?

Thanks again,

Done!

All it took was a friendly prompting from a forum member whose patiently awaiting my cores return to 402 Motoring for me to get to it. :D

Bill's pics were key. The only thing I wish I knew ahead of time was what size Torx head screw holds the fogs in. (FYI, they're 20.) The fogs took about 95% of the install time, the tail lights and 3rd brake light are no sweat. I laid some protective film over the top of the fogs when I slid them in place to protect them from getting scratched.

This is my third vehicle that 402 Motoring's done the tails for, and I've done medium on every one. I've never had a problem with (1) law enforcement or (2) visibility complaints. It dramatically changes the appearance, and the workmanship is exactly what you'd expect from a professional custom paint/auto body shop.

Now whose next!!!

You got that right, I figure doing all 5 is good at least 40 HP! :D

Bill,

Thanks again. I could have done it without your help...but I'd still be working on it :p ! You got that right about Ernie and the 402 crew; that's where I bought the staggered Foose 20s for my Magnum, along with the color matched spoiler and splash guards; yeah, I'm a fan.
