: Outside Mirrors Tilt in Reverse 2010 GC SRT8
SRT8Lady 04-02-2010, 08:16 PM Forum Members -- I need your help and/ or advice please :
I downloaded the procedure for reprogramming Outside Mirrors Tilt in Reverse
and supplied this info to the dealer to make the changes to my 2010 SRT8.
This procedure was for a model year 2009 SRT8.
However, he stated that this format ( 2009 SRT8) is NOT compatible on the 2010 Models.
It has been 6 months since I took delivery of my 2010 SRT8 and yet
the dealer cannot re-program my Outside Mirrors Tilt in Reverse.
This is important to me as I part in an indoor garage at my office and I
got used to this feature on my 2006 300C SRT8.
Please advise.
Thanks,
SRT8 Lady

Hopefully someone will help !! I know Scam#### did it to his
Blown7 04-03-2010, 05:29 AM Well it's possible this could be true.
Some abilities of StarMobile are not immediately available until DCCTools upgrades the StarMobile operating system. I remember when I could do this on my 2007 and the 2008's had to wait until mid model year till the revision was made.
Also the dealer may not be on the latest version of Starmobile or wiTech.
I don't know all the reason on the 2010 right now.
kazaam 04-03-2010, 06:09 AM This would be sick!!
This may change, but this is the e-mail I got back from one dealership Service Manager:
" Not possible on the 2010...we tried on my buddies...sucks...I know "
robpp 04-05-2010, 11:05 AM i know you MUST have memory seats on the early ones....do these 10's have that????
RIDKLIS 04-05-2010, 11:32 AM i know you MUST have memory seats on the early ones....do these 10's have that????
Yeah we have memory seats...
I want tilt mirrors too.

Sounds like what my dealer has. He re-flashed mine with the wiTech and it acted really squirrelly. Reloading my CMR tune seems to have fixed most of it. I'm gonna tell them to get theirs updated, or don't hook it to my truck again. So there's hope the StarMobile will work on 2010's eventually?

who wouldnt haha
Its kinda important, id hate to hit the curb and scratch them 20s :p
I have it on my 08
The procedure was simple, and almost straightforward using the starscan.
Many people on here say they "hate" it because it doesnt return to the previous setting when you take it out or "R"
I have had this problem, maybe 1 time every 2 months... No big deal. AND it gets very close to the original setting... so I only have to adjust it slightly.
But Im not sure what the deal is with your 2010... So I cant really offer you any advise, accept that it works on my 08.
I would try to go to another dealer. Show them the procedure via starscan, and see if they can figure it out. The mechanic that helped me out was a cool guy...
OOH
1 more thing
When I had it done to my Jeep... I called the dealer closest to me and told them what I wanted... I explained that it is through the starscan, and it has been done to a friends ride. They said they cant do it!
So I called another dealer close by... same thing!
The third I went to said "yeah we can help you out. Just swing by and ask for ****" (I forgot his name). When I got there, I pulled in the service lane and he said I will go get the mechanic. He came back with the mechanic and said "here you go, Tell hm what you told me" lol :D
We figured it out. He wouldnt enable foglights + highbeams, cause he said it was illegal :)
No charge... I tipped the guy and left.
P.s.
The instructions I printed out from this site was pretty much EXACT on how to enable reverse tilt mirrors ;)
Cherokeeforums FTMFW!
Good luck getting it to work!!!
Another Dealer said:
"can`t do it with a starscan anymore has to be wiitech i`am doing some research on the 2010 to see if that's an option"
QuickOne 04-05-2010, 05:44 PM I have this feature on my 2010. It was programmed in January when I asked them to do it.
They had no issues doing the program.
My Jeep was built in December 2010.
So I think the Stealership is flat out lying!

I think you meant Dec 2009. ;) Mine was late 11-09. It was held at the factory to fix the airbag recall issue.
I had that feature on my Infiniti, and while it always returned to the programmed position, I didn't find it very useful at all. Maybe on a taller vehicle... But I never asked them to enable it, and really don't miss it. YMMV
But they had to have used the wiTech to make the change as the Starscan doesn't support 2010 models. I actually saw the unit hooked to my buggy when they re-flashed it. The tech and service manager both said the Starscan won't work. I don't see any reason they'd lie about it. One thing about mechanics, especially doing warranty work. They're gonna do it as fast as possible as the factory pays flat rate.
wink

Hahaha....What I meant to say is my 2012 SRT8 will be built in Dec. 2010! LOL!!
But for them to say it can't be done, they are flat out lying. If you dealer doesn't have correct programing, what are they doing in business? 2010's have been out for at least 6 months,no? And they're just going to plead innocence when your 2010 needs real service?
I love the feature myself. Backing into the garage and and hitting the parking bumps is much easier with mirrors down. Not to mention the parrallel parking in the city with our huge sidewalls to protect our rims!
AZDEUCE 04-05-2010, 06:56 PM Ok does he have a starscan..they are having problems with there new stuff,go back and starscan it..

x2... I can't see the purpose of having side mirrors that are tilted down when in reverse. What in the world do you need to see on the ground when backing out of a parking place? ...
The contact points are the rear tail lights and bumper...
I've been backing out of spaces over 35 years, including my 155" WB 1-ton cargo van... never hit or ran over anything. I don't know, maybe I'm missing some hidden benefit?
In my viewpoint, its just more moving parts to wear out that needs to be replaced. Set the side mirrors once, let them be... and then use the camera, side mirrors and quick glances over your shoulders when backing out.
I guess I learned to drive the old fashion way..
QuickOne 04-05-2010, 07:26 PM Well A990..When I learned to drive bigger trucks than a cargo van, ie Fire truck or larger you learn quickly, your mirrors are your best friends. Looking over your right shoulder gives you no bearing on what is by your first contact point which is the ground.
And I never use them backing out of a parking spot..It's always backing IN to the spot. Which is how I park 95% of the time. (Makes for a fast get-a-way!)
Knowing where the rear of the truck is never my issue, that's the easy part. Its making sure I'm close, but not to close to the curb.
Same thing goes with hands at 10 & 2. Some purist love it. I hate it.
In the end, to each his own, right?

Yeah in my day they didn't even have mirrors. And we liked it! LOL!
Seriously though... I've been backing in wherever I go, if possible, for years now. I figure I'm gonna have to backup at some point, so I just get it over with from the get go. It also makes leaving a breeze and I don't risk my air dam getting smacked by something. But when I back in I check out the spot before I start. If I think the space is gonna be an issue, I pick a different space. Works for me anyways...

yep... now that I had a chance to read your post, I can see the benefit when parallel parking and backing into spaces to tap bump stops... however a quick flip on the controls you can adjust the right mirror and do the same to parallel park... I parallel park maybe 2 or 3x a year.
Ironic you mention the 10 & 2 thing, which I don't do... when I was schooled at Laguna Seca at Jim Russell BSMR by a former Formula Ford champ, he taught us to place our hands around 9 & 3 for a very good reason. ;)

Here you go:
Here are some features the can be programmed via starscan for our Jeeps, these have been verified to work in 08 and 09 GC's. These have been complied from various sources on the internet as well as the owners manual.
All are provided as reference only, use at your own risk. I cannot provide any technical support if something does or doesn't work on your vehicle. I am not responsible if your vehicle becomes 4 wheeled paperweight. ;)

BOYCHIKS 04-06-2010, 12:45 PM Hmm, give me a ring if you come.
I'm actually at school, and it is "Greek Week," so doubt I will be able to drive anywhere.

This feature is super useful when backing into a parallel parking space - it allows you to see how far your rear wheel is from the curb, saving you a nice big curb rash on your nice shiny wheel.
kazaam 04-13-2010, 06:24 PM I just got back from the dealer and they enabled this feature on my 2010.
Paul, I was at the dealer saturday morning for an hour, the tech tried everything and this wasn't an option to enablee. The only thing he saw there disabled was my DRL option, which I told him to disable cuz of my after market HIDs. Can you get more info on what your tech did to enabled this??
I just went to the dealer near my house and asked them to turn it on. They never asked me anything. Just did it.....
Same here.... had mine done today, but a slight mod on wk website....
Menu to enable rear tilt mirrors is found under Memory Seats on the starscan menu
hope this helps. For some reason after doing this my parking lights would stay on no matter what- even with the vehicle off for over an hour! Had to go back up to the dealership and had to restore the factory settings and then re-enable the tilt feature- problem solved. Hope this helps you 2010 owners!
Nik
kazaam 04-15-2010, 08:22 PM Where's the starscan menu?? I've scrolled thru all the options, personal settings etc..on the dash, and nothing. I talked to the tech at the dealer on the phone he's telling me it's there somewhere, I really don't feel like putting my stock tune back on just to go to dealer and get this done..

Starscan is the diagnostics and programming tool they used on SRT8s prior to the 2010 models. Now they have to use the wiTech. Ask your dealer to make sure they have the latest version of the software for their tool.
