I can tell you that back in 2002 when I had my Ford Lighning- I lined up against a WRX turbo (non STI) and he was modded w every type of pod gauge and carbon fiber available, exhaust, blowoff valve...ect.
I was actually expecting to get a new assh*le.... so anyway, the x-mas tree goes green! I launched perfectly...him not so good but he lauched pretty hard.... second comes and I'm about 2 cars up...3rd comes and I'm 4/5 cars up....to make a short story even shorter.... it wasn't even close. I ripped a 13.09 at 106 to his 14.2 I thnk (my brother told me his time as he watched in aw, he was lined up in his 5.0 right behind me).
STI's are supposed to be fast stock... so I'd be carefull w a modded one. I'll let some of the guys tell u about thier experiences in the Jeep cause I'm getting mine on Monday (hopefully).

i'm gettin taunted by a guy at work with a black 06 sti; i was kinda wooried b/c i believe the sti is 300hp and wieghs around 35 (2k less than my srt8).

sorry to hear your giving up svts, my buddy just impressed me with his 01 svt...its not stock, he has an Anderson drag kit with ported and polished heads. i beleieve he is the only i've ever heard of that has this package on a convertible.

so it would be a drivers race...this is stock for stock. Although on the top end it would probally get hairy....now with a supercharger =)...I wonder what the times would be for a sti w/ a downpipe/exhaust boost uped and a cai. or BPU

yeah ive raced three evos. blew the doors off one and he shut off at like 30 lol. the other evo i raced is my friends 9. its modded (exhaust, cai) but not tuned and he thinks its no faster than stock because the pcm is pulling timing.

i pull on him EVERYWHERE. even on the freeway from 60-110+. from a dig i take a car and a half or so lead and hold it (he doesnt launch the piss out of it which is how they get those basement 13 times)

managed to keep up with him in the twistys pretty well too. ran out of balls before i ran out of grip. :p

edit:
just remembered racing an MR from a 40 punch uphill. took like half a car lead and held it until 80 when he started to pull ahead. i shut down around 100 and he had three quarters of a car on me. told the story to my friend with the evo and he said the guy was probably modded.

Thats true, they need to really dump the clutch to get those times. =) and they'll need the 100 octane minumum to run the high boost.

yeah my friend ordered a 55 gallon drum of I believe 110 octane race gas lol

we only get 91 here so im going to try mixing some race gas with 91 to get 93

speaking of it being a drivers race, i raced a couple of my freinds and i always left it in automatic. i got challenged by the new civic (4 door) si recently, so i thought i would fool around with auto-stick cause i knew the guy didn't stand a chance. anyways, i wanted to see if how long the car would sit in first gear in the redline range....it doesn't the auto-stick will shift for you just like you are in regular full automatic. anybaody have this experience or a possible solutio or an explanation?

Don't get me wrong the SVT Lighting was great and fast... i spent about 1000.00 and dropped it to 13 flat.. in 67 degree fla humidity. The reason I don't get another one is because I need the rear seat for my 3yr old... he comes over evry day (single dad) when I pick him up from his mom's and the SVT had no rear seats....
Till this day I miss that truck.

This is normal on 07 models and 06 models that have the latest TCM.

It only automatically shifts at redline in autostick, where as in automatic mode, depending on how much gas you apply, will most of the time shift before redline (except for at full throttle where it does shift at close to redline)

i'm gettin taunted by a guy at work with a black 06 sti; i was kinda worried b/c i believe the sti is 300hp and weighs around 35 (2k less than my srt8).

Talk about pulling the tiger's tale! Sounds like he's bench racing, whipping out power to weight, etc., etc., might make he feel more manly, but stock for stock, straight up, you'd much more than likely would hand him his azz handily. The numbers out there for 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are close, but getting those numbers out of the Subie is gonna be a lot tougher than the Jeep. His launch and shifts need to be dead on just to keep up with you, if he screws the pooch he'll get a real nice view of that sweet center mounted dual exhaust...

Modded on his end might make it easier, but there's still the control issues he'll have to deal with on the launch and shifting.

If he's a driver, or claims to be, even better. Given the highly unlikely chance he's going to do anything better than squeak you, let the little dog sit on the porch all day and bark, you're the one with the bite!

Evo's might a little more of a different story. There's some crazy modded ones out there that are just beyond insane. One guy running around SoCal has just short of 1000 RWHP (10s of $s of mods!) that enjoys stomping the guts of Ferraris, Porsches, etc., all day. Sneaky bastitch!

Put the clown down and let us know how it goes!

i have a stock 07 and when the truck was 4 days old i got to race a blue 07 sti off a light with exhaust---right off the bat i pulled a full car on him then with every shift he made i pulled further away--to 110 i had about 2-2 1/2 cars on him---unless mario andretti is behind the wheel of the sti you'll make one ur b!tch--happy racing

I believe our Jeeps only weigh in around 4700lbs without driver, so that's near 40% less than the difference you were thinking. :)

srt8 for me

I've ran two different EVO cars now... one had 380awhp and destroyed me from a dig (I knew it was coming... :) )... the other was an 05 with exhaust, intake and cam change (hadnt been tuned yet)... i ran him from 50 to just over 150mph and he didn't really fall back much... started out pretty even and at the end he was a few car lengths back. Once I let off he came shooting past me so I am pretty sure he was trying all the way up until the end. :)

They are definately not slouches...

WRX's will have to have a bigger turbo and TMIC, or meth injection to get to 13.0. STI's and evo's are alot easier to get to those times. Coming from the subaru crowd, i know that there are alot of mid 12 second sti's and evos out there. It also takes alot less for an evo to get to those times. Just get a 100 shot and dont worry about anything on the road. ;)

Agreed. Extracting more power from a turbo (or any forced induction) motor is a lot easier than getting more power from a NA motor. :)

My lil cousin has an 04 Sti. When it was stock, we were dead even from 65-140. I was also stock. He got a turbo back, and a tune, and from 60-140 he had me by 2-3 cars. Now, we ran after I got my headers, from 55- 100, he slowly pulls a fender, at 110, he starts walking away slowly. I have an old vid on youtube when he first got the tune. I'll post it later. Or just search youtube for srt8 tribute. I only had a catback when the vid was made.
