: Warranty Claim on pitted paintwork near rear glass on boot

Hi - just wondered if there were any other Uk owners that had pushed for a bodywork claim for blistered/pitted paintwork spots beneath the tailgate glass? I've had my Jeep for 12 months now and bought it from the dealer when it was just over 2 years old.

Just after buying it I noticed that the bodywork was suffering from minor blistering due to possibly badly prepared metal surface. Basically there are about 4 or 5 minor (1mm to 2mm) blotches where rust can be seen forming from underneath. Fortunately this is on the lip that folds beneath the rear tailgate glass so it isn't visible unless the glass is open (and then it is hardly noticeable)

The dealer took pictures but since then I've heard nothing and in all fairness I haven't pursued it. Something similar happened with my father with his Merc E class he bought from new and everyone knows what happened with the front wings on that model. :(

I am sure I searched on this forum and someone over the pond reported a similar problem. What I'd liek to know is whether this bodywork "fault" has been recognised and basically what has been done about it?

Thanks

I've had my SRT8 for just two years without issues so far. I remember a forum member Mark16 had paint problems on his front bumper, fixed under warranty, but I don't recall anyone having the problem you have. If the Jeep is still under warranty I would see the dealer and try to get it resolved.

I'm not unduly concerned at this stage as to be honest the problem doesn't appear to have got any worse over the last 12 months. That aside, I still want it dealt with as it is most definitely a bodywork fault that will be covered under warranty but I presume I need to get it resolved within a certain timescale?

I am intrigued as to any other owners have the same problem though?

Basically it has a fault. Because the bodywork is not working properly. You should contact the person whom you buy that kind of stuff and claim your warranties. It is your right to do it.
