Im 21 years old, First time buyer.. Have had a stable full time job for the past 3 years.. looking to buy a GCSrt8..

Was at 2 Dealers and seen 2 2006GCsrt8, Both had 60k miles. one black and the other red rock... since im first time buyer and still establishing my credit i cant get a newer model because of the price... i got approved for both... they were both asking 25k for the GC's i talked them down to 23k assuming and i still have 5k to put down... should i get one of those with so many miles or just keep being patient and wait it out and try to get a newer model??

They both have clean titles and as far as i can see nothing is wrong with either one of them.. well kept and run great.

What should i do?

It really depends on your financial stand poin and your goals. If you can finance it and use the $5k to freshen the motor than Isay its a great plan, but if you buy it and the payments keep you from being able to do much to it, han you shoul wait and try to get one with lower miles. They are out there it just takes patience.

Well i work and go to school full time so that gives me the chance to live with my parents still.. they are financially stable as well. they wont help me out because they want me to become responsible on my own and i completely understand.. although i do have my own financial responsibilities i can still afford the jeep as well as all my other expenses and still have money to play around with... those are the ups about living with ur parents untill ur done with college.

Well how do u recommend i freshen up the engine? and things i should do first to the jeep before anything?

And thanks alot for the help and suggestions i really appreciate it

Once again it will depend on your goals for the Jeep. It will obviously be a daily driver so you will need to keep that in mind. Will you race it any? If so then you need to find a reputable shop and have them quote you on a build for your Jeep. You can look at Forging the motor or just rebuilding the top end. But you have to have a goal first and foremost. Is Naturally aspirated your route or will you want to add boost later etc?
Use the search engine on here and do alot of reading about the engine options, boost options etc. It will help guide you on your path.

The honest truth i want it because its just such a beauty and i love the look of it.. I know as soon as i get it i will get an intake/Borla exaust system for sure... after that i will look into maybe throwing a S/C on it.. i mean i've had my share of hondas and a close friend of mine has a performance shop with an in house dyno.. other then that i was raised around muscle cars so i know my share about them and the engines and what i need to do to boost it.. but i just need ur guy's perspective in how to keep it maintained and get it running like new. i know i can send it head in to get rebuilt P/P and slapped back on. but other then that im just concerned about getting this jeep with 60k on it

Im just really trying to avoid running into problems as soon as i get it or a few thousand miles after i get it.

06 only came in Inferno Red. Red rock is darker.

I am going to be a little preachy so if you don't want to hear it don't read any further.

The honest truth is you probably shouldn't buy any vehicle like this at your age and financial stage. Going into debt for a depreciating asset is generally never a good idea. This is an expensive vehicle too, not just initially, but in upkeep and operating cost.

If by chance you are really interested in financial responsibility consider reading one of Dave Ramsey's books. I sure wish I had started on this type of path when I was your age.
