: I Need a Chrysler Employee To be My Friend

Dealer tells me that I can get an additional 6-8% off a new 2010 if I know someone that works at Chrysler. Anyone want to be my friend?

Thanks,
Mike

LMAO, "anyone want to be my friend." - i will, but I'm not an employee with Chrysler.

Why couldn't your salesman be the friend?

You can be my friend Johnny, no problem. You're one of the most polite brothers on the forum. I enjoy your posts. Discount requires a PIN number from an employee. Dealers must not be employees. Dealer now tells me that I can qualify if I belong to a local credit union. Glad you found the post funny because I also got a laugh out of it when I was typing it. Thanks for your help.

:) Thanks for the kind words.

I figured that, but I wouldn't see why they couldn't get the discount if they worked at the dealer.. Basically they all are buying from Chrysler and that who is giving the % off. ya know? Well glad that worked out.

Let us know what and when you do something!

I like to get a laugh out of any thread I have the opportunity too. :p

Just sent a pm to 'jntdysf' with EC -Employee Choice#.. Saves an extra $3k.
I still have several Friends#'s though if anyone interested. Send me a PM.
I may be able to get another EC# if my brother hasn't given it away yet. I already sent mine out to someone on here and my stepdads though. Cheers.

Dealers sure can be something. My dealer said "sure we participate in the friends program", then "oh, no you can't use any of the incentives with that". Good grief. So I am still looking for my SRT. I might be flying somewhere to get one.

jntdysf
04-06-2010, 03:38 PM
If I am not mistaken, I think they are obligated to give you the price plus incentives. My dealer tells me any messing around with the price with your control number is a no no. Apparently, they can be audited by Chrysler. Chrysler has an incentive verification department, I would give them a call. If you are interested, here's the number 1-800-227-0757. Like you said, I would have a tendency to look elsewhere based on their attitude.

Here is the description of the friends program on my e-mail certificate:

Your Control Number is valid for the purchase or lease of one vehicle.
Buyer Instructions:
. Contact a U.S. Chrysler, Jeep (Jeep is a registered trademark of Chrysler) or Dodge dealership to verify its
participation in the Friends Program.
. Take your unique Control Number to any participating dealership.
. Tell the dealer you want to take advantage of the Friends Program.
. Receive the Preferred Price (a maximum of 1% below factory invoice plus a
$75 administration fee) when you purchase or lease a select
new Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge vehicle.
. Your savings may also be combined with other consumer incentives available
at the time of sale/lease.

Mike

scoutermike

MIke is right. All incentives get taken off of the employee discount. Call them on it. Don't let those pr!cks get away with it.

So i called another dealer last night just to see if he can beat the price i have from a local shop and was told the same B.S. as the other member "We are not willing to honor the Friends and Family pricing on the SRT8". He said they are getting offers from other dealers to sell it to them for $500 over so they won't sell it to me at that price. Best he can do is $42,400 with the 5k rebate. These guys are unbelievable scumbags, i can't believe they refuse to honor the friends and family discount!!
I am in technology sales so i know a thing or two about discounts and promo's from manufacturers, and I can't understand how they can respond like this to a customer willing to buy their product. Only in the Auto industry can this happen!
Example: If i have a manufacturer that is offering a promo on say a 15K Switch, do you think i could say to my customer "I'll sell you the hardware with only the manufacturers monthly promo discount, no other discounts from me. We, the reseller are going to keep all of the original discounts."They would laugh and ask me to leave. The promo is available to most resellers, so it's a bonus for the customer to sign quickly. My standard discount applies.
We should be able to get the same pricing from each and every dealer, which costs them nothing because Jeep refunds them everything back. And they still should be able to discount the car further; if it's sitting and they want to sell it.

This process of trying to buy a JeepSRT8 is driving me F'n nuts. I know these cars are hot, but... if the dealers would take a second to go own their own website and see how many are out there right now, they would stop feeding me the BS that there are so few out there and the guy across the lot is looking at it right now.

Sorry for the long rant, but i am getting very frustrated dealing with these guys. Next time i get the long stare after an offer that i question, I am going to...aahh nevermind, I don't want to get locked up:D

I understand you frustration. But the dealers view is they can't order them anymore, and they think they can get more $$$ and are willing to lose you as a customer. If you were still able to order one, then they would have to honor the friend discount. Otherwise you could complain to chrysler. Its all about supply and demand. Just like when the new challenger came out, they were going above MSRP. If they think they can get more they will try to. I suggest you take you business elsewhere. From what I've been reading on this forum there are tons of them on dealers lots. Maybe you need to order out of state and pay the extra for delivery. Good Luck! :o

Thanks for the advice. I have one locally ready to go, but we are off only by a little. Once i heard his reponse about not honoring the employee discount, there was no way in hell i was dealing with him. What difference is it to him what i use if Jeep is giving him the money back, there must be something i am missing.. He gets an easier sale with someone with that discount.

After i make the sale with another dealer, I will surely call corporate on his a$$.

It is sort of my own fault that this is turning into an issue. I shouldn't have waited until they stopped production. I had decided to just wait until the 2011 comes out and get a fully loaded overland, then an SRT just happened to be in the showroom of my local dealer and my wife saw it. She loved it and told me I was an idiot for not buying it. hehe.

ciscoios

Did you get her yet?

It's unfortunate and frustrating yet all I can say is keep at it. The vehicle WILL NOT DISAPPOINT.

One question for you -- is this the salesperson telling you or the sales manager or ownership? I'd go straight to ownership or senior management on it and point out that you're looking for a long term relationship (ie, service, parts etc). Sales doesn't always look at the 'bigger picture'. I'm not excusing their behavior, just pointing out WHY they sometimes act in a non-logical fashion :). They work off commissions so that system is setup for them to be this way.

An owner will look at the deal differently and weigh total revenue (ie, sales + service) from a customer rather than just the sales end of it.

Just my $0.02 --> good luck!

BTW, I just realized your screen name is cisco ios - cool. I'm in IT as well so I get it.

ciscoios
04-07-2010, 01:00 PM
Thanks for all the advice guys, I appreciate it. I seriously want to give up but after recalling my test drive, I still want it.

The second dealer that turned me down is a local shop that is 5 miles from my house. I have been working with them on this one for weeks and figured as a last effort to seal the deal, I would throw the firends and family discount out there figuring we would both win. Guess not. I have heard rumors that the owner/GM is a D-bag so i will steer clear of him. The sales guy is very professional and has been great, but it's tough to get them to budge on this sweet rig.

Yeah, I latched on to the Ciscoios username for just about everything when i first passed my CCNA about 12+ years ago. It's funny when i call into Cisco and i have to repeat it 10 times before they get it :D

That's too bad. Chrysler needs all the loving from the public that they can get right now. Not good PR for Chrysler with dealers like that representing them.

ciscoios
04-07-2010, 02:03 PM
I know. There are too many car salesmen that still hold on to their old ways with the "what can we do to put you in this car today" and "See that guy over there, he was just looking at it too" I am not saying that all car salesmen are whores, as my Dad called them, but some are. They need to reverse the situation and imagine them sitting in the chair and treat us like humans and leave out all the car salesmen BS slogans. It's a major turn off.
I told this guy and the others that i understand you have to make money and everyone else down the chain. Give me a fair deal and we'll all be happy. I know they are holding out on me, as most do.

I own my 2005 Dodge Ram and I will most likely be buried in it, so i know they make good cars. No issues...knock on wood.

scoutermike
04-10-2010, 09:37 AM
I am not happy that all this bullsh!t is happeneing. It's not the vehicles that are causing the US auto industry to suffer, it's not the workers, it's the idiot dealers that are in the system. I am VERY lucky that I have found a great dealership and an even greater service department.

It might make it worthwhile to travel outside your area to get your vehicle. Try contacting a dealership near a Chrysler manufacturing plant. They would be open to all the normal employee plans.

Kudos to you scoutermike! That's a helluva favor you've extended to fellow forum members! It sucks that some guys are still having trouble using the discount. I happened to buy mine right before they stopped production and was able to negotiate it down to what I thought was a great deal W/O any (friends/family/employees) connections.
So I'm curious to know how deep the discounts are W/O TTL from the MSRP. Anyone that was able to buy one with scoutermike's help willing to share their numbers with the rest of us just for reference sake?

Thanks.

41k FOR $49,295 msrp. Includes friends discount and rebates. If you have a blood relative that works for Chrysler, they can get you the employee price which was 38K+. Took delivery yesterday from Oklahoma to Indiana. No problems with shipping. Painless transaction with dealer and shipping process. Those guys in Oklahoma are really friendly. I am pleased. Now I know where the "beast" nickname comes from :D. My wife says it has the hehehehe factor. She giggles every time she stomps on it.

Good luck to all of the guys negotiating right now. A lot of dealers treat their SRT8 Jeeps as if someone will pay sticker eventually.

I tried buying a Modern Blue from 2 dealers in Chicago that wanted to charge more "because someone will pay what we are asking". Fortunately, I was able to order mine from a local dealer.

Don't settle for the overland. The SRT8 is a totally different beast. Many members on here had a 5.7 Hemi WK before the RT8 and would never go back.

One thing is right now there are a lot of black ones around compared to other colors. If you want a black one you probably will be more successful getting a great deal. My local dealer still has a red, but they were jerks. I know it is wishful thinking, but I would love to see them stuck with it for about a year.
