I have been curious. i know our 60ft time is unreal. how are the trucks after that? My buddy has a 2004 audi s4. i beat him pretty good from a stop. the last time we raced my girl friend was driving. he got about 2 1/2 to 3 cars right off the line (she is still learning) we caught and passed him to both of our surprise. needless to say he was PISSED. I started this post to see what this truck can do from more like 60mph up to ....
whats everyones experience.

Well as you know, jeeps arent the most aerodynamic vehicles out there so pick your races wisely. Something with way less horsepower could pull by you up top just because of the difference in wind resistance.

The SRT hits a wall around 100 mph due to the aerodynamics or lack of.

I wouldn't say a wall.....more like a rubber band. The more you stretch it, the harder it pushes you back. ;)

Did ccbatson change his handle on us? :D

I think most guys out there...if they are going to race in a public area, they are smart about it and make sure the roads are empty and the only people they are endangering are themselves.

I pulled on a newer s4 on the highway from about 60- 120 and then he shut down. I had no problems pulling on him.

I've had no good races, yet. I will race anything that tries to pass me from a Cavalier to a Vette(nothing to imbarrising:) ). The region I live in is mostly junkers so no real oposition. I've had a few "slingshotters" try, but a GrandPrix(it was dark could have been anything) cant slingshot the Heepster.

I raced a Camaro SS (looked like different exhaust) the other day from about a 50 roll, he jumped me slightly but I stuck right on his bumper until around 110.

Ran with an S4 on I-95 in lower CT a few months ago when I had the Blue one.

At highway speeds (60-120) I pulled him each time but the truck was very unstable in the center and right lane where the tractor trailers wear in the pavement. That's probably one of the things I disliked most about it. While flat surface handling was great "real" roads were just plain scary at speed. The truck was almost uncontrollable over 100mph.

changing to a non runflat tire will probably solve this problem...

Once you get used to this rig, it's actually quite easy to drive. I don't think you owned it long enough to get to that point.

Highway has been my most frequent run-ins since I've owned the Jeep, and it does pretty well for an SUV. Even with it's blocky aerodynamics, I've been surprised with some of the cars I've been able to beat or run even with. However, i'd much rather be in my Z06 if I knew I was going run in to a "playful moment" at higher speeds. However, here's my tally list of vehicles I've beat or stayed even with on the freeway and below that I'll put the losses :

Black E46 M3 : me by a couple car lengths.
Silver Porsche Carrera (not sure what year): pulled slightly on him.
Red Porsche Carrera : Depending on who hit the gas first, he pulled away a little once, and then me on him the second run.
BMW M roadster: Me by 3-4 lengths
BMW 760i : Almost dead even, but I remember gaining a little ground before we had to let off.
Trailblazer SS : me by 3-4 lengths, stock (paper plates)
2006 Mustang GT: me by a length or two, probably stock
Subaru WRX: me by 2 lengths, not sure if modded or not.

Losses:
BMW M6: he was about 2-3 ahead by the time we had to slow down for a curve. Probably would have kept pulling away.
Ford Mustang GT/ Bullitt: He lost at first, but then decided to spray a pretty decent sized shot of Nitrous and edged past me 2 cars on the second run.
BMW E46 M3: Sounded turbo, definitely not stock, he beat me by 3-4 lengths. I'm pretty sure there was a blow off valve involved in there somewhere:eek:

I have to agree with scott on this one. That is childish, reckless, and stupid. If you get caught?? Say goodbye to your license and hello to insurance premiums that will make your head spin if you ever get your license back.

Yes, let it loose a bit here and there, but use your head, scout the stretch out first, make sure the coast is clear (minimal traffic) and let loose a little. But this example sounds totally reckless...an inexperienced driver in one vehicle, speeds approaching 100 mph....its' just stupid.

lots of kills at speed on the 'bahn but the one's where I get killed seem to stick out more. Only 2 so far. Both same situation, I jump up on someone from behind doing 110+ or more but then they get into it and just walk away from me.
First was an F430 spider, he pulled me so hard I thought I was dragging an anchor. Beautiful car!! I could never catch him at all, I got to 160+ and kept him in my sites but he's way faster and kept on it and kept gainin distance.

The other wasn't SO bad but still owned me pretty good. It was kinda light traffic. I caught up to a bmw sedan movin pretty good but stuck behind traffic. I join him and try to stay with/pass (the usual) as traffic clears but when it does(at about 90+) he starts walking away from me every time. I think I hung with him once out of 7-8 times and that must have been after a slower start at around 70. Needless to say, I saw the back of the vehicle enough times to read "Alpina" and "B5" on the back.

now your getting personal and if you knew who I was and what I have seen happen to "kids" racing.....you would change your tune. Do what the hell you want...except for insult me. You dont know me and by the sound of your ****y ass internet attitude...I dont want to know you! All of you can say that racing on public streets is safe...and ok...but I just hope and pray you dont kill an innocent bystander or motorist.....sad....just sad!

100mph is fast? I've done that or more in all sorts of vehicles. The SRT can handle speeds quite well. If I wanted to get passed I'd have bought a Preous & man purse.

Tommy...how about going to the track where the real men (to use your vernacular) go and show them what youve got instead of dodging innocent bystanders racing inexperienced little girls like the one that is the subject of this post (I guess you forgot that the original story was about a guys girlfriend..purse and all...racing on the highway, ironic that you brag about being a real man in this context, isn't it?).

hey tawny for lack of a better word you're a total F@G. they would'nt let you on a race track to try to beat me anyways. you can't race in a skirt. why dont you go post on the PETA or hippie forum. people like you ruin this for everyone.
Where do you live maybe, if you can find time to take that skirt off, we can meet up. i think i could tech you a valuable lesson about talking out of turn. PM me

also maybe you could give us you're adress so we can hit up your neighborhood when we race

I get it Tommy....you can dish it out, but can't take it. Point made....moving on, as there is nothing more to say. Chill out there Tommy...I think you are giving yourself a stroke (agraphia if spelling is any indication).

BTW, I never suggested that I race you (on a track, or anywhere else) and have no interest in doing so. Reread the post (you can read, right?) and you will see where you went wrong.
