Today I'm walking through the parking lot at my school, and I notice a beautiful new Black Charger SRT8 sitting in a *student* spot.

I proceed to look around and ask a few of the Seniors "Hey who drives the Charger?" and they point to one of my Senior Girls!

So I ask her "Is this really YOUR Charger?" and she laughs and says "YEAH! It's WET!"

"Wet? What the heck does that mean?" I ask with a confused, dog-head-tilt look on my face.

"It's hot, you know...wet! I love it!" She responds with a smile.

So I look at one of my other students, who is a fellow motorhead, and he just shrugs and says "Must be nice!"

Oh and btw: This is her first car.

Must be nice. I had to buy my first car and I bought it from my father. That Charger is a lot of car for a new driver!

When I bought my SRT, the salesman was telling me of another one he sold to a local family that was rather well off, who bought it for their teenage daughter. Same thing, her first car.

She totaled it within the first week.

I'm a biker too and wouldn't recommend a Hayabusa to a first time rider...what was that someone saying before about more money than brains?

She best get to the SRT Track Experience and get some quality wheel time in a safe environment and learn the capabilities and limitations of her car, before she under or over estimates it big time!

Yeah, must be nice...

Do the kids know about your car? It has got to be one of the nicer ones in the employee lot. I'm sure it gets noticed.

My SRT8 is a HUGE hit with the students. It's pretty much legendary on campus haha! The auto-shop students want to crawl all under it, and we've spent some time doing just that.

Yes I teach high school, and I love it! I left policing for this and I've been able to make more of a difference in this profession.

I'll just ignore the "is she hot" comment.

LOL on another note... C'mon c'mon, no stories about how YOU guys had to was 15 miles up hill in the sleet and snow to get to school.

Even better... here is my first car ( I wrote the descriptions when i was 15ish, and i just reread them and they are ridiculous, but never mind that.) I wasn't doing too bad either in my earlier years.

Is she 18? :)

Must be niiiice. My first car was an '89 4 door Plymouth Colt DL equipped with the luggage racks and I think 90 horsies or something stupid like that. Had that car through college as well, but the only thing to go wrong with it in 7 years was the clutch.

My 1st car was a 69 VW square back, after giving it a tune up I lost more then half the 95 hp I had before i started....who knew that changing the wires [all 4 of them] would have to go in a certain order, with age comes wisdom. My 16 yr old speaks your student languge. Ingnore the "wet, hot, etc ..." coments.

As you can imagine, she is quite a popular student. Overall a great kid!

I just found out that her brother had a TBSS that he totaled, so now he drives a beater car and the parents bought her the Charger SRT8.

Her Dad drives a Porsche 911 Turbo. They work in NYC, as you can imagine. Sounds like an all around speed loving family! haha

She has great taste!

I am happy for her. At that age, having a sweet ride is crucial in the grand scheme of high school enjoyment. However, if I were her parents, I would have procured the SRT8 GC for her. New drivers are utterly inferior on the road, and the SRT8 GC would be safer ride.

I see no problem a kid having a high performance vehicle for a first car as it does help alot in extreme driving situations. Having great accel and breaking is very usefull in avoiding acccidents. But I definitly think that parents need alot of time behind the wheel with their kid to get them comfortable with the car under all situations and to determine if they are responsible enough or not for the car. Remember these cars are alot more powerfull than the camaros the rich kids were getting in h.s. back in the 90's.

lol, hell even as adults we can barely drive the speed limit in these cars. I'm not talking about being by the book drivers, i'm talking about knowing the limits of each of these cars and being able to access if a situation is fun, risky, or just stupid. Knowing the limit of a car and understanding that its like a loaded gun is an important lesson i think every new driver should learn.

Yeah...how much money is Mango making as a teacher??? I always hear the teachers saying they are eating raman noodles and driving a 20 year old car. It seems like Mango is paintballing every day, installing all of the mods and so one.... :D :p :D

My dad took me to the local grocery store the day I was 16 where he knew the asst mgr . Two weeks later he drives home a used 1971 Dodge Challenger w/340 w/ slapstick auto. I paid every cent and all insurance from that day forward. Great first car and I paid for it 100%. If we ever have a child, he/she will follow the same path.( maybe not the grocery store )

That's nothing new, I had a nicer car than most teachers in HS.

No, most of the kids who have nice rides don't have to pay for the car on their own.

A Charger SRT8 as my daughters first car? Uhhh, no I don't think so. I'm thinking much more along the lines of slow and safe. In terms of a calculation I think this works. 10 HP per year lived (starts at 16) = 160 HP for a 16 year old. Hmm that means I'm 60 HP short on my GCSRT8 right now. Ok forget that. When you turn 20 all bets are off.

I like that formula. I'll be needing something with 610HP. Guess I'll be getting rid of the Jeep.

I have a 98 5.9 liter grand cherokee. I bought it from a girl at my former high school (I'm 21 now) She got it for a 15th birthday present. Then for graduation she got a 2001 330 CI, then got a 4runner to drive in the snow, then sold the CI to get a 330 XI. Now that she is about to graduate college her parents bought for a 2002ish 911 turbo... Her family is loaded. In the years I've know her her driveway has been full of hummers, bmws, mercedes, a ferrari and a hayabusa. Her backyard had a float plane sitting in the river and multiple water toys, like jet skis and a donzi boat...

I am kind of glad that when I get an SRT8 (hopefully a few years from now) that it won't just be given to me on a platter. I plan to buy it, although I have a dealer hookup who will hopefully sell it to me at his cost.

Eh I had a Grand Cherokee 5.9 that I modded to run high 13s (probably anyways) for my first car. Never wrecked it but I did do some stupid **** in it. :D

Hopefully she treats her SRT8 with respect.

my 5.9 runs mid 13s. :) too bad the money spent modding my 5.9 would probably put an srt8 in the 11s.

I have no problem admitting that I am a pervert. When I first read your thread, the first thing that came to mind was a beautiful blonde girl (18 yrs. old of course) sitting behind the wheel of a beautiful SRT8. A guy has got to have dreams.

Na, Just Men. Perverts would have been much worse.

I can guarantee that the context of the "wet" is in the perverted sense, though some may use it with out knowing. Your a HS teacher you should be well aware of the perverted corruption of our youth. It sounds like you teach in a private school or well off public one, where you should have kids that are a bit more respectful, yet stuck up.

I speak from experience, St. Josephs, in Montvale NJ private all boys school, kids were very respectful but most parents had lots of money to send their boys there and the boys knew it.

I wish you Luck Mango... I hope you can make a difference in these kids they for sure need some type of positive influence, rather than Paris $luT/Hilton

Bought the car from a stereo shop. It was their demo vehicle that they took to competitions, and somehow, yes, if the stereo was stolen it one way or another wouldn't let the car be started or something. Never happened, I just took the guys word for it.

...I suppose I will never know for sure though.
