: GC SRT-8 & GMC Typhoon
viperman5 06-08-2006, 07:19 AM I thought I would share some pictures of my SUVs. I am loving the Jeep. Two answers to some question I have gotten about the pictures: the Typhoon is faster however it is not stock. Not my house, it is my parents house, the Typhoon is stored there most of the time.

rainmaker 06-08-2006, 07:32 AM Might be cause I'm trying from work Viperman, but I can't see the pics. Little red X's. I'll try again from home tonight.
What mods do you have done to your Ty?
viperman5 06-08-2006, 11:10 AM Just verified, links are working for me.
I have chip, fuel pump, AFPR, intake, 3 inch exhaust, hi flow cat and 20g turbo with 50 trim wheel. Best so far was a 13.18 with stock turbo.

Links must not be working for me because I'm firewalled at work. I'll check em out when I get home.
Nice. What kind of chip? What was your MPH?
turbotyphoon69 06-08-2006, 03:01 PM as i said on syty...........Nice trucks!
viperman5 06-08-2006, 04:26 PM I love it! I guess SyTyers are big sport truck fans. Good to see you over here turbotyphoon!
I have the Ultimate chip. My best past was on the 100 octane at 19psi. I hoping to be able to run a little more boost this summer as the stock turbo starts losing effeciency at 18psi.
Also I had the Ty dyno'd late last year. On pump gas(16psi) it made 280HP and 462 torque. This was on an all wheel dyno. I would love to get the SRT over there sometime.

Nice. Stock TC? With that setup I would think you should be in the 12's. If this SRT-8 gathering ever happens, and you bring your truck we'll have to take a look.
viperman5 06-09-2006, 09:22 PM Yes, stock torque converter. It might run 12's stock.... I don't get out to the track enough to really push it. I was fairly happy at 13.18. I would think I should be in the 12's now. I am selling some stock parts now. I am actually thinking about the TC. It lags more than stock now right now compared to stock.
radduc 06-13-2006, 10:00 AM It's amazing how much nicer the jeep looks. The Chevy looks old and dated.
tainui 06-13-2006, 08:13 PM I love the Jeep, but you've got a lot of time invested in that Typhoon and it looks real clean, Best of luck enjoying them.
viperman5 06-15-2006, 03:07 PM Tainui, thanks for the comments.
Yes, the Ty may look a little dated but that is one of the things I actually like about it.
icemanthrilla 06-17-2006, 02:12 PM love the zr1's on the typhoon ive always loved that truck and the jgc srt8 is like the modern day version of that vehicle (somewhat). both nice cars amazing how the typhoon still looks like it its 1993 still.
HEMIMUSCLE 06-19-2006, 12:36 PM I heard the gmc typhoon required a lot of maintenance and shit..
I heard it was a experimental motor any of this is true??
its on bad ass suv you have loving it....
viperman5 06-19-2006, 04:19 PM For the most part, a stock SyTy have similar maintenance to any other turbo car. The issue with the Syclones and Typhoon are getting at everything for performing maintenance. For instance, spark plugs have to be changed through the fender wells. The engine compartment is tight. Cold air kits typically require moving the battery or radiator reservior.
Changing my turbo required removing the fender well to have access where a buddy of mine was able to change the turbo on his GN in a couple hours right from the engine bay.
tainui 06-19-2006, 06:43 PM Viperman - I'd love to see some pics of that garage too. You've got a little slice of heaven there by the looks of your avatar.
jms935 06-19-2006, 09:14 PM I have determined I have too many vehicles (5), so I listed my Typhoon for sale. Once it sells, I guess I won't be a member of this SRT8-Typhoon society anymore.
930chas 06-20-2006, 12:07 PM That typhon is sweet!! Very nice. What trans. did they come with?
viperman5 06-20-2006, 12:14 PM jms935, I believe these are enthusiasts sites which would means you are welcome on any of the forums regardless of the cars you own. 5 cars is not bad either.
tainui - LOL! I will get some pictures for you next week. My parents built the house and added the additional garage about 3 years ago. The lift has been an absolutely blessing to use. In fact, the GC SRT got a tried out with it's first oil change couple weeks ago.
930chas 06-20-2006, 12:46 PM That typhon is sweet!! Very nice. What trans. did they come with?
tainui 06-20-2006, 12:59 PM :D green with envy for a 2 story garage with a lift and full compressor and air tools. Someday.....aaahhhh someday.
rainmaker 06-21-2006, 09:33 AM That typhon is sweet!! Very nice. What trans. did they come with?
700 R4 4L60. Tranny is a weak link, but then again so are a lot of other things on that truck.
syty.net is a good resource. (won't let me link it directly until I have 15 posts total... )
jms935 you might want to check it out if you are not already on there if you are considering selling your truck. Good luck!
crazylegs 06-22-2006, 10:20 AM Links are not working for me either.
viperman5 06-22-2006, 02:34 PM My buddy must of taken them down. I will see if I can get them back up.
