One hell of an SUV, I would love to have one... But i chose to save 50k and own the Jeep, still one of the fast SUVS around.

That is a sweet ride, and it will do 171 mph.

Dollar for Dollar our Jeeps are a better value. Remember Cayenne owners both hate and envy us Jeep owners!

+1. I can't believe they let that jackass near the Cayenne in the first place.

I dont think you could be further from the truth....i dont think most Cayenne owners even know what an SRT8 is or would even be interested in one for that matter. If you search the Cayenne forum you might be lucky to find 5 threads about the srt8...and for the most part the only thing they complain about is the cheap interior/ jeep brand name...but its no where near a hate/envy situation.....keep in mind that most cayenne owners aren't very interested in speed (IE V6/V8) they just wanted a "quicker" SUV with the Porsche name and beautiful interior....whereas the SRT8 is all go.....

come on though...who honestly hates someone for what car they drive and that alone....also Im pretty sure if a Porsche owner really had envy issues with Jeeps....they would just trade it in and get the jeep.....

Im a Cayenne owner and have nothin but love for the SRT8.....and will most likely have one in the family within a few months....

I like the new body style....but not enough the trade mine in for it....however the new 4.8L is very smooth and the PDCC (porsche dynamic chassis control) is amazing.....not bad for the 2nd gen Cayenne.....2010 is going to be a entire reworking of the Cayenne, not just a facelift.

But wow that guy in the video was a clown....

I would get this over the X5 if I had the cash

first choice would still be the SRT*, though

Almost as quick ... my a**. I got beat 3 times tonight at the test & tune by a 2008 Cayenne. It's 500 horsepower turbo charged.... grrrr... :) I even did the brake snorkle and a quickie fan/esp mod. For some reason I ran slower tonight than last time. I was so disgusted I ripped out the ducting for the brake snorkle to see if I could get a better time... pretty consistant and the brake snorkle mod did nothing that I could tell.

best time tonight Cayenne
13.330 @ 165.79/kph (103 mph) 13.079 @ 172.70/kph (107 mph)

In my case, it was actually the Cayenne that got me to look at the Jeep. I test drove a new Turbo "S", it was truly an awesome machine....but the dealer also had a fully loaded 05 used one on hand ("with only 450 HP") that had 9K miles which had been traded on a new Turbo "S", and it was priced at $45K less (!) than the new Turbo S MSRP. I verified with the salesman that the retail price drop was that much...he sputtered a little but when I pressed admitted it was "probably in that range".

I went to test drive the Jeep a few days later and bought it on the spot...it cost about the same as the 2 year depreciation on the Porshe.

The Jeep is not a Cayenne, but I think performance from a start to 100 is very close, although the Cayenne is faster at higher speeds where that extra HP works.

I have not regretted my choice at all.

For the money of the CayTTS, there are other faster vehicles that I'd get first - M5, Benz AMG, ZO6, or a 911 even. I think the CayTTS has great engineering and a super plush interior, but its exterior is not all that attractive (imho) and its made more for old execs as a status symbol.

The Jeep gives me pretty much the same performance SUV for less than 1/2 the price and looks a hell of a lot tougher, but without the lush interior. The other $50 grand I used to to build my pool patio and landscaping - very nice!

New Member first post, just turned 500, (purchased Black 07 two Saturdays ago) and brother in law owns Cayenne with CAI, juiced up programing, etc. Lots of friendly jousting going on, but having driven both vehicles, I know he doesn't want any of this. To follow on previous poster's comment, he's not resentful, just maybe a little jealous.

Speaking of German SUV's, last night I had BMW X-5 with what looked like a "M" badge get all horsey on me on I-10 (in New Orleans). Down shifted and pulled away some before a sharp turn and some "authority" required deceleration:mad: Cursory investigation of BMWNA site discusses the possibilty of one soon, so who knows what I was running away from. Having only owned this car for about 12 days, it is surprising the attention it gets.

I've mostly been lurking around determining which mods will be first and where to purchase them. Jury still out on CAI and exhaust. I live cross town from SouthernHotRod, so that may make it a quick decision.

If I had the money I'd go ML63. Turbo lag is for suckers, especially in a 5000+lb suv. The new engine is supposed to be more responsive though.

I'm willing to bet money that someone just stuck an M badge on their X5.

However, there is a BMW dealer in Houston (Momentum BMW) whose dealer badge can easily be mistaken for BMW's M badge.
