i was just wondering cause some of you might know better then me if its actually safe without mechanical failure to keep launching this truck down a drag strip---i have an 07 with 1,300 miles on it and wasnt planning to bring it back to the track until i had over 5k on it---also what its a good rpm to launch from --i was going from anywhere from 1,800 to 2 grand---since i have an 07 is it normal that i have that jerked little shift delay from 1st to second and 2nd to third?---any help or advice is much appreciated---thanks--vin

On my fresh '07, when I rent Rockingham dragstrip I literally put over 100 blasts on the beast, absolutely no problems with my stocker (ok CAI, catback & 2600 converter)

I launch pretty low at about 1200 or so. There seems to be no benefit for me to launch higher.

The shift delay is when the engine pulls timing and fuel at 6,200 rpm and the shift has not completed. I am installing TCM revision "AG" on Friday. Will let you know if there is any change.

Bill and I will tell you what the limits of the racing aspect of these will be. With his 426 S/C and my Ported/Polished/Cam S/C we will be on the forefront with breaking crap. WHOO HOO!!! I believe we should be good till over 500HP.

The launch needs to be 1000-1200 any thing more and you WILL spin. I prefer 1000. GOOD LUCK

Actually it feels great taking off on the street with the 2,600 rpm torque converter. Launches hard.
As for the drags....it actually HURT the et because it was difficult to hook up the ONE tire per side. I believe the General has the same converter and found exactly the same results.

Maybe we won't break a thing if we can only spin one tire per side.

Wait until it warms up all over and the rest of the guys will visit the drags. Maybe then they can help out with the dreaded "2 wheel peel".
