Great ideas but since you're going through all of this trouble, why not go with a unique paint color? You can keep it red but maybe do something that will set it apart from the rest of us. If not, it'll just look like an '06 with a few mods as opposed to a whole new paint job. Just a thought. But however it goes, keep up the good work.

The Debate has been going on for weeks about the color, I was going with House Of Kolors Red - orange etc... I love to drive it so an exotic color is not pratical for me, driving it everyday lets you open to scracthes dings and dents, with that said it is so much easier to blend in a repair with a two stage paint instead of a three stage. I will be adding some pearl, mica and some matalic to the paint to make it pop in the sun.

Not to be a downer... but doesn't changing the color of a vehicle depreciate it for trade or collector value? I am not saying I am keeping mine forever, but I am just thinking ahead for 2009 when the new Jeep comes out.

Just a thought. :)

he is doing more than just a color change... sometimes it helps resal sometimes it hurts... but most people who do it don't care...

also how many miles do you have on your? seems lik you have been doin custom stuff more than driving it. Same here except i still have never drove 2 of my trucks...

To answer a few questions, If in 2009 I want to trade it in I will see then. But since I own the body shop cost is not an issue. I have 1078 miles on it. that what I put on it since Jan 23 07. it also helps that i live 4 miles from my shop. I bought another set of fenders to work on as well as another hood and grille. so the only down time is the paint process. I also have another set of headlights I've been making so I don't have to use my set on the truck. the headlight trim peices are going great so far they will be out shortly, everyone who is interested will be PM'ed as soon as I setup my pay pal acount. thanks people, ron

I would seriously doubt it in this case. Unless somebody checked his Vin for color I doubt most people will be able to tell. Obviously Ron doesn't run a MAAcco (sp) shop. Check out the detail. every molding off, panels removed, all door jams to be shot, inside of tailight housings sanded.........This guy knows his stuff....I bet this puppy is going to be really sweet with a little extra pearl/mica/flake whatever. Can't wait to see it.

I think we should all chip in, rent him a trick motorhome and convince him to drive around the country for a few months and teach us all how to wet sand ours, get rid of the excessive orange peel, pop out little dings, and at least do proper touch up.....I'm in!:D

Damn that looks delicious! Ummm, can you repaint my steel blue metallic too??? I'm sure if you resell, any person with a decent eye will KNOW that ain't a factory Chrysler paint job.

However, Escalade vents???

RonConcept

Escalade vents... I always liked to look of side vents, so I took a right side and left side 07 escalade fenders, cut out the side vent area and then cut out the same area on a set of Jeep fenders and wielded it so it looks factory. I didn't find any stick on types I like so this will do.

Silly question, but why didn't you go with an 06' that's already "Inferno Red" and just do the hood/side vents?

This seems like an aweful lot of work to make your truck look like an 06'.

RonConcept
04-25-2007, 10:05 AM
Mango I had an 06 Inferno red before the dealer offered me an 07 for a $500 differance because my 06 had a quarter panel painted. I had gotten use to people giving me a thumbs up sign when I drove the Inferno, nobody noticed me in the Red Rock. It would have been easier to buy an 06 and change the hood, but I have an 07 and LOVE Inferno Red. Just look at the pic... I ask you , which color would you want? Since I'm not into extra speed I'm installing sound deadening pads in the doors and roof, I feel I have enought HP so now I want silence and comfort.

Looks great. I am very jealous since I am fanatical about appearance. I wish I could shoot my car and clean-up the factory job of my 06 Inferno Red. Good for you.

Hey Ron - I dare you to put in as much orange peel as the factory...

Very impressive job, although from what we have seen on your posts thus far, wouldn't expect less.

Here's an update on the paint job. Besides the sound deadening on the roof and doors I filled the 1/4 panels with expanding foam, should sound nice and feel cooler inside. also painting the inteior dash parts the outer color.

Hubba hubba man. That really came out great. That hood grill combo is one of the best mods I've seen done to this jeep. Outstanding attention to detail!

Well I think we all know where to go if we need a custom paintjob on our rides! AMAZING work man. I can't believe the SPEED at which your shop runs. I guess because it was the "bosses" truck it was done with incredible haste.
