Hey guys. I just bought my 07 Jeep. It puts out a LOUD high pitch squeal (I think from the rear even when brakes are NOT applied). Now I am hearing rumors that the SRT8 Jeep are known for them so my question is..... What is the best rotor and pads combo to minimize and/or elliminate the squeal. I could care less bout dust just want my stopping power to be at best.

Just go to Oreilly's and get some caliper grease, spread GENEROUSLY on the back of the brake pads and replace. It gets rid of it for a few months but will eventually come back. The pads are easy to remove/install so shouldn't take more than 10 minutes on each wheel. Mine was always the right rear. Also doesnt hurt to scrape your pads real good on the drive way.

Just search and you'll find this topic is discussed a LOT because it's fairly common. I have an '07 and the brakes squeeeeeeeeeeeal like a locomotive coming to a stop. I enjoy doing that when my wife's in the Jeep just to annoy her LOL. From what I've read there are a few solutions (some more costly than others). My .03 cents....

my 08 rear brakes squealed so loud i had people in parking lots yelling at me to get my sh!t fixed. i first tried applying caliper grease. that worked for about 12 seconds. i then bought new pads for the first gen cts v and that solved my issue. front pads didn't need changing.
you can get them from gmpartsdirect. part number 089047744. of course you can buy them elsewhere too. swapping them out is super easy. remove wheels, remove guide pins in caliper, remove pads, insert new pads, reinsert pins, put wheels back on.
