When Should We Do The 1st Oil Change?

Guys I have a question. Should we wait to 3000 miles to do the first oil and filter change? I was told I should have changed mine by now. I have 1900 miles on the clock. Is there any advantage or disadvantage to changing it sooner? I have "drove it like I stole it" from day one.

Your thoughts please. :(

I did my first change at 3K. I've heard that DCX puts an additive into the factory fill to help set the seals and if you dump it earlier you will not benefit from the additive. Anyone know more about this?

You are correct there is an additive in the stock oil, ide leave it in atleast until 3k, after that I changed mine every 2k, my oil analysis company keeps telling me to leave it in 3 to 4k but I just cant do it.

And yes I send my oil to be analyzed every oil change.

You change your oil and filter every 3 to 4k with synthetic?

Every 2k with synthetic, yes I know I have issues. Longest oil change was the first one 2950.

I actually have 2500 on my oil right now and its bothering me!

What determines when I change is mileage ofcourse, how hard ive been driving it, oil color as it blackens you lose viscocity.

I just happen to have the owners manual right here and it says first change at 3000 and then every 3000 after that on Maintenace Schedule B.

The owners manual also shows a tranny dipstick on page 300 but I don't have one.:(

Noone has a tranny dipstick, just a plug. If you remove that plug and drive around you will be in for a nasty lil suprise when you pop the hood, tranny fluid everywhere. No it did not happen to me.:D

I changed mine at 150 miles left the drain plug out and "flushed" the motor with two extra quarts. I read articles on the MB forum (as well as friends with an E55 and a Z06 who did the same thing) that it would flush out any metal flakes in the oil. I also drove hard from day one no babying at all. I repeated the same procedure at 500 and 1000. I know I’m a little on the anal side, but the guys that tried this had high numbers on the dyno as well as the track (freak motors)....anyway do I think it worked...I don’t know but it couldn’t have hurt.

Since then I have changed it every 2000-2500.

Nice heads up on the additive from the factory for the first 3K on the oil change ;) . I noticed on many GM cars there is a % based on the engine revolutions for an oil change, many times 6-7K miles before a service call. All I know, is that my grandfather who was an engineer, changed his oil on his GTO, Cutlass every 3K miles and the engine lasted over 200K miles. I am going on experience, every 3K miles mobile one synthetic.

I highjacked this from the other site this was posted by Milous: The factory fill is Mobile 1 0W-40. There are a lot of opinions on when to do the first change (as well as thereafter). I changed mine at 1800 miles, the mileage I had on it at the time I talked to one of the SRT engineers who’s personal opinion was to go with "somewhere around 1500 miles". I'll probably go with every 3k from that point on, and of course with Mobile 1 0W-40.

I dod not recall any mention of an additive in the initial Mobil 0-40. I changed mine at 1,000 miles (old school) and will replace it every 3,000 miles.

I believe its the best thing you can do, but I am sure you could also go 6,000 with o problem. In my wifes X5 they change her oil under the all inclusive free maintenance once a year for 4 years. I just can't go a year, so I pay for a change at 6 months, and they do one at 6 months.
