Well, the upholstery shop that I use had a bead on some of the pique suede that SRT used on the seat inserts, and we were going to use it for embroidered panels on the inner door tops. Well, the material showed up and it wasn't even close. It was perf'd and just didn't look right. So we re-ordered material today. I ended up deciding to do the door tops in the black carbon fiber-look leather, to match the steering wheel and shifter. If it turns out nice, I think I may swap it in to the seats as well. I'll post pics as soon as I get something to shoot.

Me too, I'd like to see pictures.

I have some alcantara suede that I bought for my last car but never used, and by chance the color is an excellent match to the suede inserts on our seats. I have an appointment early tomorrow to have an upholsterer lace some over the steering wheel. If it turns out well then I'll keep it and post pictures, otherwise it's coming off!

ge2, have you dropped it off yet? If so, maybe you could go to the shop and snap a couple pictures. It's always nice to see work in progress.

Here's how the steering wheel came out... it took the upholsterer about 2 hours. It's not perfect, there's some small wrinkles that he couldn't get out, but not too bad considering how cheap it was.

I got the fabric from an ebay seller in London about a year ago, coincidentally it matches the color of the suede seat inserts, except it's not perforated. I think this same suede is now available from selectproducts.com

That turned out really nice, and you're right.... that color looks spot-on!

No.... I haven't dropped mine off yet. The timing has just either continued to be bad for me or the shop. At this point I may just wait for a couple more weeks and let them do it when they mount up the new wheels.
