: Navigation - Who Needs It?

Hey Everyone!,
I'm currently on the hunt to get me an SRT8. Being the "old schooler" that I am and having never had navigation in my previous vehicles, I just don't see the value in spending the extra couple greenbacks on the navigation package (and the rear entertainment for the same reason). I guess I'm the typical "Get out the good old foldable map, and NO we don't need to ask for directions!!" type of guy. :D
Anyway, to those with navigation, please let me know what your pros are for such an option, and how much you truly use it on a daily basis. Thanks!

I use mine all the time, and thank God for it. When you get to be my age, you often forget where you are going, and this baby always gets me to my desitnation, and back to the Home. I mean Home.

It really a nice feature, and it does really help if you are in an unknown area. Especially nice for identifying Hotels, etc when it's zero dark thirty and you need a place fast in another state.

i no longer need to ask for directions, a phone number or an address is all i need. daily use isn't that much but when you have kids that need to go here or there to visit friends or go to sporting events it's very very usefull. Michelle makes getting there very stress free.

I started using nav in cars a couple years ago after being an affirmed card carrying luddite map dude. I've never looked back.

It is very useful when needed but why not just buy one of these and save a few thousand $$$. I only paid $279 for mine.https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134&pID=6385

If you add up the miles wasted looking for places in gas money the nav will pay for itself in a year or two :D ...especially if you do it in traffic

Candyman.......just busting here, but having had your ride almost a year now, and having only 2600 miles on it, you can't be needing that nav too much.
Seriously though it is a great and convenient tool for many that travel a lot to new and specific addresses, and the Garmin is a great alternative. I think Nav/backup camera is around $1600 going in with a decent "git back" when you sell.
Ditto also to Alex's post on card carrying map junky. Before I settled down (at least a bit) fairly recently, I full time RV'd for about 8 years. Wish I'd been smart enough to get Nav then.

I love my Navi. It actually helped me find a car show tonight, in my own TOWN. The address on the site was wacky and it directed me straight there after some poking around.

I mainly use it to find my way to drag-strips which, around here, are often kinda isolated.

THis is my first vehicle with it, but had it on my Blackberry for a few years. If I had bought a new GC I probably would have gone without the nav and gone aftermarket, but I got a great deal on a used one loaded.

I was going to go with something like the Alpine Blackhawk and have it installed in the sunglass holder (hardwired), but I will definitely not have a vehicle without it again.

Even if you don't use it that much, get it. I bought it for the function and the way it makes the interior look.
