: Killed!!
Derwood98 04-19-2007, 09:19 PM Hey guys. Sport bikes are really quick. I pulled up next to a couple this evening at a red light. We exchanged a few looks and hit it on green. Let's just say that one of them blew my drawers off... The shame was he did it on one wheel. Looks like I need a little boost.

If you're planning on beating sportbikes, I'm not sure boost will do it.

EX-SVTMAN 04-19-2007, 10:21 PM I agree, most of the crotch rockets run in the 10s and high 9's in the quarter....so stick to TB SS and any other suv you care to destroy but not the rockets sir.
gd luck
Derwood98 04-19-2007, 10:24 PM Thanks for the support guys. I really didn't expect to win, but I didn't expect to get humiluated on one wheel. The best part of the story. When we hit the next signal light, I gave them a thumbs up and they did the same. Ha, respect..:D

After a run at that speed, I'd have to loop back to the start to pick up my testicles.

ineedspots 04-20-2007, 09:08 AM I used to smoke 600s in my 03 cobra 620whp. Espically on the highway its insane how much you can pull on them from a roll... especially while sitting in the a/c lol :D to bad it blew up!!
Here's a little reminder for everyone.
Racing bikes is silly in about any car or truck, if the rider knows what he's doing.

Street WK 04-20-2007, 10:41 AM I am getting a bike for graduation but it only runs mid to high 11's. Some of you guys can take me. :D

a good rider on a 600, meaning r6 636 gsxr 600 could best do 10.50s stock in 1/4 mile. Thats not that quick, especially when you put a fast car that goes say 10.5s in the 1/4 up against it on the highway, and you say bye bye crotch rocket. Thats why i sold my R6 b/c it was to slow and you swet your ass off on a hot day, when i could be sitting in A/C and smoking R6s

Awesome video!! I wonder how fast the Porsche was going when he blew past the street bike. Watching that Jet pull was amazing. I bet it's chipped! :p
dukie748 04-20-2007, 08:47 PM After riding sports bikes for almost 20 years and owning a few P-Cars and a couple of 911's that video still doesn't make sense. The Kawasaki is killing the 911 Turbo then seems to slow so much the Porsche blows by, weird.
Don't race sportsbikes, generally speaking you'll lose. A 10k bike (with a half sensible rider) will beat almost any car from a standing start in a straight line.
tommy25000 04-20-2007, 11:28 PM go pick up a viper... send it to heffner. you will beat anything

jaybruce 04-21-2007, 12:12 AM The fastest car will always beat the fastest bike on the track or at the strip. The 'problem' is, even a completly stock GSX-R or R1 is so close to GP level performance when compared to a streetcar, even a heavly modded one, which has no where near the F1 class or Top Fuel type performance.
dragtimes currenly lists the fastest 1/4 time for:
a 'car' as 4.498 with a 60ft time of 0.987
bikes aren't even breaking 6.5 yet
for a road course look at some Laguna Seca times:
2006 Lap Times
750hp F1 Toyota _ 1:06.309
650hp ALMS P1 Zytek 06S _ 1:13.731
500hp ALMS P2 Porsche RS Spyder _ 1:14.030
600hp ALMS GT1 Aston Martin DBR9 _ 1:21.012
250hp Honda MotoGP Bike _ 1:22.843 ------------------
480hp ALMS GT2 Ferrari F430 GT _ 1:23.611
500hp Grand-Am DP Crawford-Porsche _ 1:23.712
the fastest bike is 16 seconds off pace of the fastest car.
Derwood98 04-21-2007, 01:08 AM I am not saying that I could have taken them. Just saying, sport bikes are quick. I don't go out looking to race bikes for fun. Or do I.. Humm :)
JTSRT 04-21-2007, 07:30 AM 0-60 in 2.8 seconds is hard to touch.
This is hard to do unless you know how to ride the bike as well. Took me a while to be able to launch my busa...(0-60 in 2 sec.)

Speed does cost money, if I gave up my Jeep SRT, my Magnum R/T, Ford Excursion and my 5 bikes I could have a car like that...
...and nothing else, after my wife handed me my azz and walking papers!

I know I'm a thread stealer...what would a new viper with those mods cost?
BLWN GTS 04-23-2007, 02:16 PM It can get expensive!! Turbo kits start at 15k not including the labor, fuel, or tuning. And they use to be 25 - 30k!! guys were paying DLM 50k to get 1000 hp from supercharging back in the day. Money makes you go fast.... the more money... the faster!!
I had a 97 supercharged Viper putting 600 to the wheels that had NO problem with all bikes (except the turbo busa's and highly modded r1's) on the street. I would walk them on the freeway.... but from a start, I would not try.... unless I had my slicks on at the track!!

I have ridden in that car and a stock engine twin turbo GT. They are faster than a car should be and will scare anyone with common sense. The cool thing is you can drive them around town and they are smooth as silk. My buddy here on the forum has one (tmcphail). He is at 1089 to the wheels on a stock motor. Check out www.unleashedtuning.com
fever29 04-27-2007, 07:51 PM This guy is certifable! I don't think your Viper would catch this guy, and he is probably riding a stock bike!

Or my ZX-12R. My buddy has a busa and we race all the time, depending on who gets the launch it's a free for all! All too much fun...:D
Derwood98 04-28-2007, 06:36 PM I am so excited. I got my first TB SS kill tonight. It could not have been more picture perfect either. I see a black SUV in my rear view after I made a hard corner trying to catch up with me. I thought to myself.... Could it be an SS. I am in the left hand lane and a chick in a new SS pulls up next to me at the signal light. She doesn't look over, but the truck still had dealer plates on it. So I am sure she was feeling pretty cool about it.
The beauty is, this is a nice long stretch of highway and no cars in site. As I waited for the light to turn green and she starts inching forward. Not sure if she was going to put the hammer down or not, I patiently waited to see what she was going to do. When the light turned green, she took off and then so did I. Needless to say, I was well over three car lengths ahead of her by the time I hit 75. I think if I was her I would have taken that rig straight back to the dealer and demanded my money back for humiliation. I just wonder how bad I would have beat her if I would have hit it right off line..

But he does make a good point though.
With my 98 GTI VR6 w/Vortech 10-13 PSI from 80 up I couldn't find a Bike that I couldn't pull. I pissed off a lot of people with that car. I miss her:(
Derwood98 04-28-2007, 11:52 PM The only thing that would have made the SS kill better is if she pulled up next to me and gave me her phone number. :D
