: Warranty Claims!

I will be taking my GCSRT8 in tomorrow morning to have checked out because my factory warranty is up in the middle of March. I'm planing on bringing up the 70mph vibration issue, peeling steering wheel, software updates, and a mysterious rattle coming from either the tranny or transfer case when when heat soaked and in park at idle. Any advise on the process would be greatly appreciated !!! I have printed out the response from SRT engineers to show to dealership so hopefully that will help. I will keep everyone posted.

I also noticed today that when I was in my garage at a complete stop holding the brake, I put gear shift in drive, still while holding the brake, then played with auto stick. While still stationary I then held the auto stick to make it go back to regular drive, this is when I could hear some sort of audible tone coming from the tranny as if the tranny is going into a different mode. Is that normal for this process to be audible??? It will do it every time after I hold the auto stick ( upshift ) to get it to go back into normal drive from second gear while stationary. I could only hear this when my door was open. I never noticed this before, but could have always been there, just being anal before I bring to the dealership.

If there is any other issues that come to mind please post.

Sorry for the last minute post on these issues!!!

Thanks

JayJay

+1 on the vibration issue!

Mine just started like last week. I plan to get new tires soon, so maybe that will fix it.

Good luck!

Fixed mine by putting new tires on. The Goodyears honesty just suck. Mine was vibrating pretty bad as well so glad that is over. The goodyear tread separates really easy on the front. Check the very inner corner of your front tires.

Well you know, my never vibrated.. Then I dismounted my wheels and mounted them back after powder coating, and the vibration was there...
So honestly I think it is something to do with that.

But I agree, new wheels are a plus and need to be ordered!

Of course. Sorry, forgot to mention that. I did everything I needed properly during the process, but the vibration came within 50 miles afterwards..

If this is a tire problem make sure the dealer has a roadforce balance machine [GSP 9700 Hunter]this machine will diagnose the tire for roundness and run out and road force itself. It needs to run 20Lbs of road force or less the better. They should index[rotate] the tire on the rim. this machine is amazing & can solve almost all vibration issues.Make sure they also do a dynamic balance.might have to go to the extent of an on the car balance.Butler tire in Georgia can simulate speeds of 120mph.This balances rotors & everything but you can not rotate tires

Thanks for the Advice nate! I have hate 3 sets of tires and have had my Tires Road forced Blaanced many times and I have 6 Lb of Road Force on my mine right now. I have spent lots of time and money already trying to figure this out. So I also recently swapeed tires and wheels with another member and the vibration was almost gone. The only difference between his and mine is the wheels. He hads the exact same tires and they both have been Road forced balanced. So the only theing I can think of is that Wheels America did not do a good job fixing my slightly bent right wheel. So now I will buy 2 new front wheels and then head head back to the dealer again. Look in the Suspension Section as there are a few threads on this already.

I forgot to mention...I just had all four tires balanced with the above by a local discount tires and I still have the vibration. I have the nitto 420s and stock wheel. Does anyone out there use this same tire combo have a high frequency vibration at 90mph then at higher speeds it seems to go away???

Ok finally an update!!! The dealer ended up putting a new steering wheel for the peeling problem, new rack and pinion for a squeaking sound coming from the column, new torque converter and tranny oil pump for a rattle coming from tranny, new cats for a rattle coming from them, new steering angle sensor because esp abs light came on, and clocked both drive shafts in attempts to cure the 70 mph vibration. All was well except the vibration. Then we noticed some grease splatter surrounding the boot where the front shaft connects to diff. Then ordered a new shaft/boot for the front and vibration is gone!!! On a rough highway there is minimal vibration, but on a nice smooth highway no vibration any more at 70!!!! hope this info helps someone else. I do have to say I was very impressed by how my dealer handled all my issues, although jeep was out of service for a while. Two thumbs up for them for sure!!!
