Mine has been running true & smooth and I didn't want to take a risk of getting my rims f-ed up for (possibly) nothing. I read one too many horror stories.

Did not do GY recall. Tried at least four local Goodyear dealers who either wanted nothing to do with it, had no idea what I was talking about or did not handle run flats etc. Tried talking to Goodyear Canada who denied all knowledge of the issue. The dealer also claimed no knowledge (or interest) in what I was going on about. Gave up in frustration. When or if these puppies blow I'll be buying something else. The tires were just fine this winter but this forum has lots of alternative replacement tire stories with satisfying results. I have around 8700 mi on 06 GC.

Same here, didn't want to chance it. Only have 2,700 miles on it and everything seems OK.

Same here. Everything looks and feels solid, plus only 8500 miles.

I attempted to at the Discount Tire Goodyear referred me to, but after 2 unsuccesful visits, I gave up. I was working both times, so the wife had to take the Jeep to them. The first time they just looked at the tires without even taking them off the Jeep. The second time, the removed the wheels, but did not dismount the tires to inspect them. I should have made sure they did it right the second time....

I didn't w/3300miles the tire seem fine. I called GY about the possible/definite wheel damage & they rudely stated that was to be expected w/a tire change. I also tried my local GY RF dealer(1hr away) & he also stated the same. The thing that really makes no sense is the fact that GY/dealer both thought it was OK to take the old ties off, inspect then remount, then order new(only if bad, what a jk) then take off old again then remount new... What would my wheels look like then?

I went yesterday with an appointment time. I get there and they tell me the run flat guy has left. Can I drop my GC off in the morning? I say NO. I tell them I can bring it in on Saturday and he wants me to leave it there. So I probably will not go back, only 2700 miles

Had mine checked just for the hell of it, never felt or noticed anything out of the ordinary and ended up having the problem, so i got 4 new tires, for free, with a retail price of about $590 per tire. Also had a little over 12,000 miles on the truck and the the tires were already more than half gone.

Haven't done anything as yet. I also doubt that if the tires are defective Goodyear can legally put a time frame on replacing them. Bill

Didn't have them checked. Same reason, too many horror stories plus I've already had wheel damage having a flat fixed at my local GY tire store. Will get something else when the time comes for new tires.

I waited to get more miles on mine, and took in last week. The first Goodyear shop pushed back and did not want to do the work (it was the Saturday before Easter and they were low on staff).

I dropped off the next week at a different dealer. I called after 3 hours (they estimated 4 to get it done) and the guy said, oh you're the guy getting new tires on the SRT8.:D

My rims were perfect with no marks, just a few fingerprints in the layers of brake dust.

I did about die when I got the paperwork which showed the rears costing $585 each and the fronts at $545 each. I think I will buy some locking lug nuts...

I haven't and probably won't for same reasons as everyone else, too many horror stories. I have 6000 on mine and took it to Florida (from Indiana) with no issues, very smooth, so I don't think it's worth the potential damage.

Since it's not a safety issue, I've decided not to do the recall. As others have already said, too many horror stories. 10,857 miles on my GC.

Reluctantly did it yesterday at Discount Tire. Was hoping for new tires, but they checked out fine. Great store. They even asked me to walk around the car with them before they did any work to confirm that I did have some rash on 1 wheel, and the rest perfect. Only took an hour.

With only 3500 miles, I had almost decided not to do it and a friend in another city in Colorado said he took his to a Discount tire store after getting the same run around I did at the Goodyear dealers. When Discount contacted Goodyear distributor they were told that inspection was not necessary and if he had the letter they would replace tires. They did.

I then called the same Discount store about mine and they made the calls to Goodyear and even set up having the tires sent to a Discount store near where I live and they now have my tires waiting for me to bring it in for full replacement.

Maybe Goodyear has finally realized that this is what they should have done in the first place. With less than 3000 cars affected in the US, the bad will created with uncooperative Goodyear dealers will cost them much more than the replacement tires. I'm very impressed with the Discount service thus far but if I have problems with the mounting, I let everyone know for sure.

You can get the tires for a lot less than the $500+ some are quoting. Had mine checked 3 weeks ago, and didnt get new tires. Had to bring one back a week later though because of a new bulge I noticed in the sidewall. They inspected it and the inside sidewall was cracked. They prorated me for a new tire that ended up costing me $140, instead of $349 for a new one. I have 17,000 miles on mine, and one new tire. The other 3 still have at least half their tread, which is amazing to me. New tread depth is 10/32, versus 7/32. I hope the 1/2" difference in the rear tire circumferences doesnt affect the drivetrain.

Sounds like they damaged your tire when they removed it from the rim.

Of course thats what I thought, but they swore up and down that damage could only have occured with an impact. It was on the inside of the rear tire, so highly unlikely, and I had only driven the car twice since they had dismounted the tire the week before, but I couldnt prove they did it. After a conference call with the area rep, he agreed to discount a new tire 60%. After all afternoon, I was tired and wanted out, so...

Well, just got back from Discount Tire and it took them about 2 1/2 hours to dismount and put the new tires on. I couldn't see any problems with the ones taken off but they replaced them as Goodyear had instructed them to.

I watched them like a hawk and good thing too because they almost mounted one of the back tires on the front which I pointed out would have caused major problems with the aluminum support member as pointed out in an earlier posting on this site (thanks for the heads up). Also, I must have blinked at the wrong time as one of the guys who must have been watching too many NASCAR pit crews managed to strip one of the wheel studs and a couple of lug nuts by sticking the nuts in the impact wench before starting them. So instead of being an almost success which would have earned them a nice tip for taking good care of me, they have to pay for having the dealer repair the wheel studs. So much for what little profit they probably made.

They were careful with the wheels and no damage on those thankfully but what a pain.

Frankly, if they had not agreed to go ahead and replace all the tires without the inspection, I don't think I would have done it. Guess my advice is to try to find a dealer that will call Goodyear distributor and get committment to replace the tires without the absurd inspection requirement. Oh, also, the tire prices on shown on my invoice which may be Discounts price would have been $371 each for the fronts and $400 for the rears plus $124.90 for tax.
Good Luck.

I gotta drive 40 miles to an EMT certified dealer, just for an inspection. Then was told they have a couple of tires on hand if needed. I forsee a very long day of frustration with jacklegs workin on my ride. I dont think I'm gonna do it.!!

Our situation was relatively unique. I had two sets of tires to look at, as I had the originals, plus a new set of four (with 100 miles, with nubbies still on the tread) I bought off of another forum member. He was very kind and mailed me his copy of the "recall" letter that was issued. Both sets were subject to the recall.

Chrysler left us holding the bag on this one in my opinion. I called Goodyear four different times to find the name of a EMT "certified" dealer. They were absolutely no help whatsoever. That's a crock of crap.

They want you to call from a landline phone so you can be directed to the closest dealer based upon the dialed-from phone number. I assure you, when I have a flat and need to get a hold of the nearest EMT certified dealer, I won't be near a land line phone. How stupid and shortsighted.

When two of these EMT certified places never called me back, I knew I had a problem.

I took the two letters and the extra set of tires to my nearest Americas Tire. I explained the situation to the manager who really wanted to help me. I let him have the car overnight.

When he told me the next day that he was waiting for a call back from Goodyear, I told him that he'll be waiting for another week. He told me that the unused set was fine and put those on the car and is currently waiting to hear back from Goodyear on the tires that were on the car originally. He didn't like something he saw and is waiting on information. I am hoping that this means I'll be able to pick up a brand new set of rubber and keep it in the garage.

I'll let you know what transpires.

Once again, we were let down by Chrysler. This should have been a Jeep dealer issue, not a tire dealer issue. Goodyear's concept of customer service just does not exist. I'll never buy Goodyear tires again.

As a follow up, none of the eight tires were bad. The people at America's Tire in Thousand Oaks were great. I can't ask them to do anything that they can't do.

Still, not handled the best way by Chrysler or Goodyear.

Brought mine in to Just Tires a week ago. They looked at the letter and said, yep, we've replaced all the tires on two of these already. Said they were ordering them and will call when they come in.

Sounds to me like I will have new shoes shortly. Nice too, as I already have 11,300 miles on them

After putting 6k on my stock tires you bet I had them replaced!

Thanks Goodyear!
