On the test drive with the sales guy in it! if I am planning on buying a Jeep might as well put it to the test with my Lead Foot:D On a serious note normally people wait till the break in period is over, which can be around 500 miles or so n a brand new engine.

You have to wait till the 5000 mile mark

I don't think there is a SRT out there that doesn't have full throttle run it by the time it gets PDI'ed... Break it in like you want to drive it. I just always make sure it is warmed up before I go WOT.

They recommend flooring it during breakin (first 500 miles) they just dont recommend taking off from a dead stop.

2010 Manual says 300 miles for break in. I have had many new cars and have always gone 1,000 to 1,200 with varied speeds and very little W.O.T. and never full throttle from dead stop. I then do a oil/filter change and "give'er hell". I have always had strong running, well preforming "and" no oil usage between changes. If you don't seat the rings properely you "will" have oil usage.

This is how I treated my 2009... the '10 is getting the same with the addition of the catch can. With the 1st oil change test results I've seen, I will also save the "give'er hell" treatment after the 2nd or 3rd oil change.
