PROBABLE CAUZ 02-24-2010, 01:45 PM ok at the end of may i will have about $10,000 to spend on my beast. :D now the money has to include any installs. as you can see from my mods below i have headers, exhaust, predator, tuned tcm, sway bars and end links upgraded . now here is where i need your help. what will be my best bang for the buck. i was thinking to start with heads and cam and other goodies but dont really know which is the best for a daily driver. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks
Joe Las Vegas 02-24-2010, 01:51 PM Vortech Supercharger and the stage 2 valve body (http://paramountperformanceproducts.com/).
Harrison@Stage6 02-24-2010, 02:02 PM Go to Vegas and spend it on hookers and alcohol!!
I'd do a 426 and a tranny personally with a converter. Less headaches to worry about than going FI. Plus..... you got a solid forged motor to build on later.

What if I have 10k to spend and not 21?!
Can we celebrate at your house? LOL
I agree though, go with a 426 :D
navyavi469 02-24-2010, 02:20 PM 426 with either a converter+valve body or a full Paramount transmission... depends how much the stroker is going to run you as to if you'll bust your $10K limit.
You could go supercharger, but then you'll be just like Paulie and can't turn up the boost until you do the motor. Best thing to do is start with a medium-compression forged 426 and go from there.... transmisison + stroker = solid 11's all day long, zero stress on the components, excellent drivability, and longevity.
Next year if you're still wanting more, bolt on your forced-induction kit of choice and one of Bill's rear ends... you'll at least be in the races for 10's.
Joe Lewis at LPM makes the strongest 426's money can buy, and will probably cut you a better deal due to his low overhead and quick response time to get you the product.
lchevere 02-24-2010, 02:21 PM Buy a sport bike. It will get you in the 10's :D
Dr.Steve 02-24-2010, 02:25 PM I'm with Winston and the big H on this one, Forged 426 (or 392) and valve body or full Paramount trans is where I'd be headed with 10G's. . . or, I'd be headed to pay my bills :(
m4xm1l10n 02-24-2010, 02:25 PM Buy a sport bike. It will get you in the 10's :D
HAHAHAHAHAH That's an easy solution and besides girls love that $hit :D
1BAMFR 02-24-2010, 02:30 PM Stroker
Then........Once that gets "old"...go for a turbo, Blower, or Nitrous!
PROBABLE CAUZ 02-24-2010, 02:35 PM Go to Vegas and spend it on hookers and alcohol!!
i dont know if my wife would be onbaord with that idea.

i dont trust myself on a fast bike. i need 4 wheels and steel frame around me :D
Chris Hull@TTC 02-24-2010, 02:45 PM You guys are all smoking something good. 426? You cant touch a long block under 10 not to mention core charges and install!!.
Here is my suggestion, Arrington 9 to 1 compression 6.1 $3150, slap a V2 vortec kit and just pulley at your pleasure!!
Knuckles 02-24-2010, 02:46 PM HAHAHAHAHAH That's an easy solution and besides girls love that :D
^^^ I agree bro:D
PROBABLE CAUZ 02-24-2010, 02:48 PM ok so it sounds like a 426 and new tranny is the way to go. thanks so much everyone. lets do this shi@t:D:eek:

The 426 is nice bro, but I would wait til Spring to see how Keoni's and Ekaz 392 motor is gonna work out for them. Ultimately the 392 will outlast the 426 in theroy from what I 've seen guys say on here and the LX forums. Look at that guy Hemi C he is running a 392 with about 15 to 17 Psi and is running high 9's I believe with built tranny as well.

Personally I'd call Joe Lewis at LPM (having met Chris 'FLsrt8') and ask for their input. They may be able to do a nice package deal for you.
Tranny and transfer case will be needed eventually .. maybe you can save for that next.
Vinnysrt8 02-24-2010, 03:00 PM stroker motor and valve body.

Most important is someone in your area to do the work who will stand behind it!!. My motor is Warrantied, and so is the labor sinse I had it installed and tuned by AJ. That is priceless because sh it happens!!
pjs1965 02-24-2010, 03:05 PM So if you're keeping the Jeep for a while, I suggest:
- heads/cam/headers/stageII ported intake/90mm TB
-- Parts are about $6500
-- install may cost you $2000-2500? depending on who does it but I'd talk with the major tuning shops to get estimates.
-- dyno tune $400-500?
That leaves you with just enough to do the StageII valvebody while you're at it.
If you think you'll be moving on from the Jeep in a few years and don't want to lose most of your investment,
- Vortech SC + StageII valvebody
-- Vortech installed - $6500-$7000?
-- Valvebody installed - $800?
-- dyno tune $400-500?
-- maybe headers but at $1500-1800 + install that might tip you over the $10k limit.
If I had $10k, I'd go with heads/cam/headers/ported intake/90mm TB + valvebody and a dyno tune, gun for 11.9x with race gas but run low-12s all day long. Two major reasons I'd go this route, a) I plan to keep my Jeep for a while and b) if I ever happen to get like more $$ in the future I can toss a short-block 426/440 into the mix and build a monster!
I also like the NA route but then again, again -- reading AJs post yesterday a nice Kenne Bell SC would be SWEET!
The other thing is at some point you're going to have to plan for your tranny upgrade even with a Vortech. That's a good chunk of $$$ too.

well after talking with johan at diablo when i got my dno tune about 6 months ago he said he has a guy he deals with. so hopefully i will be ok with the install part.

Knuckles 02-24-2010, 05:39 PM Yeah 10k is only gonna buy you an Engine, Heads, Cam, Ported intake, and the installation fee in todays market.

Oh hell no.
Grip Grip 02-24-2010, 08:34 PM My opinion is Vortech (preferably used), BB tranny, BB valve body, NCTS part throttle fuel enrichment module, boost gauge, and Innovate wideband. Contract out the tranny install and do the rest yourself. Save your money after that for forged internals, so you can bump up the boost once high 11's get boring.

junior by your mods list you have to be spending some kinda cash. lol most of us are very jealous of the monster you have:D
bcm0018 02-25-2010, 01:32 PM See if DCX is still building 426 shortblocks for 5K. If so you should still have enough for heads, cam and install.
