: Asm Photo Update!!!
FastSRT8GC 04-17-2007, 08:33 PM Looking good. From the Bill visit to the photo progression I am starting to think ASM has a good combination going. :) :) :) :)

Bullet 04-17-2007, 08:35 PM Can't Wait To See The Numbers!
BuilderBill 04-17-2007, 10:18 PM They were doing the last tweaking of the brackets to make sure there was plenty of clearance between them and the A/C lines & plugging in the piggyback connectors to the PCM when I was there last Wednesday. Then off to polishing!...Looks like FAST will get the 1st one! damn!!
Bill
FastSRT8GC 04-17-2007, 10:23 PM I WILL???  RIGHT ON!!!
Crank 04-17-2007, 10:27 PM Now thats hot maybe you could add some more shine with a polished intake manifold.

I am not sure what I like better. The popcorn eating smilie, or the one of the guy beating a dead horse I saw used in another thread...
Derwood98 04-17-2007, 11:27 PM Ha, good stuff. I have not checked rotation, but for some reason it looks like super is running backwards to me. Humm.. I like the whole setup with the intercooler. Any dyno runs as to HP expectations. I really like supers, but they can be a bit tricky to dial in.
Looking good. Can't wait to see what numbers it makes!!

I believe as shown on the 6.1 it adds 125hp.

SRedrockT8 04-18-2007, 05:43 AM from where does it draw air?
Mango 04-18-2007, 05:50 AM WOW! Looks incredible.
It will be interesting to see how durable the stock bottom end is with all this added power.
UaeSRT 04-18-2007, 06:06 AM Daaaaaaaaamn thats hot cant wait to see ur 1/4 m :)
Inferno SRT8 04-18-2007, 06:24 AM A few questions?
How are you tuning this?
Upgraded injectors?
PSI Boost range?
Leaving the bottom end untouched?
What kind of long term drivability can you/we expect with an untuned s/c'ed motor?
BuilderBill 04-18-2007, 06:25 AM from where does it draw air?
Air filter not shown in photos yet. I saw a cone type filter that mounts under / around the supercharger area. We will need to wait for the final photos. They currently are revising the billet brackets a few mm here and there for additional clearances.
I just noted: Neat looking breather off the oil fill neck to replace the hose that runs into the air inlet tube.

BuilderBill 04-18-2007, 06:33 AM How are you tuning this? Preprogrammed Piggyback..plugs into existing PCM.
Upgraded injectors? Yes
PSI Boost range? Believe 5-6 psi on stock type 6.1 supercharger
Leaving the bottom end untouched? Fast = unchanged, Bill = Forged engine (426) build for maximum 1000 HP.
What kind of long term drivability can you/we expect with an untuned s/c'ed motor? It WILL be tuned! NO one in their right mind would strap on a supercharger without a tune!

Are you running the same boost on the stock 6.1L?
And what type of money are we looking at here for this kit?
BuilderBill 04-18-2007, 08:02 AM Are you running the same boost on the stock 6.1L? No...ASM is telling me 10 psi should be the boost. The limiting factor is the 103 octane pump gas.
And what type of money are we looking at here for this kit? I will post it when I know. Mine will be a prototype so I'm sure the actual production kits will be less. The "kit" would be great for anyone building the bottom end, whether a stroker or not.

GotStroke? 04-18-2007, 09:55 AM Damn Bill, maybe I need to consider a move to NC, if I want 103-104 unleaded I have to order it from VP. One little tidbit reg. any form of race gas, it contains zero oil which in true pump gas helps lubricate and protect engine parts, especially aluminum ones. After just a few mos of use, I've seen serious pitting of the combustion chambers, valve seats due to the lack of oil, to the point that the heads needed to be trashed or seriously reworked. The "cure" is to spray some WD40 straight into the TB at idle after driving at the end of the day. Yes it's a PITA, but it will save you bigtime in the not so long run.

We in NC  have not learned that 103 is not the norm! Please don't tell the station owners. LOL
Matter of fact all the Petrol express (must be 5 within 10 miles) all have 110 octane at the pump for $ 5.00.
Thanks for the info on the non-existent oil on race gas. I tried back to back passes (103 vs 110 octane) and it did not help the stock setup.
Bill
UDLOSE 04-18-2007, 10:13 AM What about the trany? It can only handle 600hp or so....

Anything over 104 is leaded and will kill your 02 sensors pretty quickly as well. Unreal how you guys have race gas on tap though.
REDysrt8 04-18-2007, 10:33 AM HOW MUCH IS IT GOING TO COST??????
El Jefe 04-18-2007, 10:48 AM Is there a reason the intercooler is mounted above the engine and not below in the grill?
BuilderBill 04-18-2007, 10:59 AM Is there a reason the intercooler is mounted above the engine and not below in the grill?
Yes...that is a charge air cooler you are looking at. The coolant lines from it lead to a small radiator neatly installed in the small lower opening of the front fascia. Very clean setup.

The base unit is I believe $ 7,600 un-installed of course. Pre-programmed piggyback electronics. Yes, there are versions on Ebay for less than $ 2,000. They may even be better than the ASM version. LOL.:D

haha i see... i still think thats a bit to much especially since thats a price with out installation:eek: ....

i noticed the breather also and was wondering if it would be ok to remove the tube & put a breather filter on instead. my older performance engine cars had breather filters and i wasn't sure if this crankcase just needed venting or suction to the vent (hence attaching it to the air filter intake).
there is a reason i want to remove the tube that goes to the air cleaner.
i had recently had my oil changed (1st one) at my dealership. i checked the oil level the next day cold & it was spot on. a week or so later i was looking inside my stock air cleaner box just poking around and i noticed oil puddles in the square pockets at the bottom, inside the box. the clean oil was coming from the vent tube right below the filter. it had even washed off some of the red oil from my K&N flat panel filter as it was being sucked up through. i wiped up as much as i could with paper towels but couldnt get all of it out of the molded squares.
i've been thinking of getting a Volant CAI and noticed that the breather tube is attached right before the throttle body. so all of that oil would be injested into the throttle body/intake manifold. it may not be hurting anything but i don't like that fact that it's doing it. i don't want any engine oil getting into my intake/throttle body. if ASM is removing the tube & putting a breather filter on it then i'm assuming it would be ok to do the same.
bill, next time you talk to ASM, maybe you can ask about the breather?
