I think I've figured out why Luis is getting such great 60 Ft. times......Besides the 426, converter, tires, etc........

Check out his staging technique.......

Rolls thru water....Now all 4 tires are wet and cold

Does a nice burnout and goes 200 feet down the track

NOW.....Backing up to the light....His tires are HOT, Sucking up all that fresh "track prep"

He's now at the light with all 4 tires with sticky track prep all over them.

Launches..and Gone!

Now.........For us who just pull up and launch....You have cold wet tires with zero track stickyness on your tires.

Just a though?????.......

Most tracks only prep the starting line and the compond doesnt work on hard rubber tires above 000 tread wear. One time they prep and i was the 1st car to run on it and it didnt help 1 dam bit and my rubber compond is 260.

About 2 weeks ago I was visiting a friends shop and his son wanted to feel the launch. So I backed up out of my spot and let her rip! When I got back I saw that I had two stripes side by side. Usually left fromt and right rear marks. I went inside and mentioned it to Mr. Fox and he said that backing up with a limited slip would lock the diff. Havent been to the track to try it yet.

I absolutely agree with this 100%. I have been telling people that if I could get my tires hot somehow, that my launches would be much more effective. I have noticed that my first 2 runs on a track right after driving on the highway to get to the track, are usually my best runs of the day. The longer the tires cool off, the worse traction I get and it happens every single time I race. I have talked to some people about potentially doing something to allow us to turn off 4wd so that I can do a burnout in the waterbox then turn 4wd back on at the line. I was told it could be done but would be complex. We are not allowed to do burnouts like lchevere where you go way past the starting line and have to put it in reverse to go back. It takes too much time and is frowned upon. So, that leaves me at the line with cold tires and no way to heat them up!!! This is why I feel the NT05r's would be more helpful, and at least another rear diff (preferably a locker). Lchevere's awesome 60' times with his burnouts is all the proof I need. Best 60' to date is 1.616

Come down to the tracks down here and they'll kick ya off. Your track obviously doesn't care about rules since they haven't kicked you off yet for not having a rollcage.

Since I started pulling my ABS fuse and doing massive burnouts.... my 60's have been fantastic. I go around the water box as tight as I can then do a burn out as long as I can before I have to slam on brakes. I've stopped to perfect staging before. Last time I cut 3 low 1.7's and my 1.69. I can definitely tell a difference since I started roasting them as long as I could.

I got kicked off last time i went...i have raced only at private rentals when i ran my good times and 7.35(on the limit) before now

I stop about a car past the starting line....they haven't tripped on it...YET

What i wanna know is how Muellge, Jdoc, Mandan007, Keoni, and others have ran under 11.49's at TEST and TUNES and never get kicked off...that's badass

Guys at my track are very cool! The only time I was asked to "slow down" was when I had a passenger. Can't go faster than 14 seconds with a passenger so I nailed it until the 1/8 mile and peddled it to a 13.9:D Initially, I was concerned that I'd get asked to leave but so far no one has said a thing!

Oh, and I was told later that the announcer was saying I wasn't wearing a "brain bucket". Guess he couldn't see my black helmet thru my tinted window?

Would they have let you run the 1/8th at all? Usually down at Gainesville if you're too fast for the 1/4 they'll let you run the 1/8th but can't go over certain times/speeds in the 1/4 or they'll ban you for 6 months.

I've been kicked out of my local track several times....Those guys know me and my lisence plate!

This past summer I rolled up with a 5 point cage and a 6 point harness and they shut up real quick. They let me run as much as I want now.

IMO, Having a fast Jeep is worthless if you can't take it to the track....Unless you just like speed on the streets, but that gets old to me!

All I need for this year is a fire jacket!

Honestly....It's dangerous as well NOT to have a cage and a harness in a 700+ HP SUV.....If you roll over at the end of the track for some reason doing 120+ MPH...you're dead!

Not 100% sold on this since these come from the factory capable of 155mph. I'm sure the designers engineered structural safety into the Jeep. These aren't 70's muscle cars where safety in design was absent. Having said that, I think a rollcage is still a very good idea. I think driveshaft safety loops and a scattershield are more important with the high HP motors breaking TC's and trannys.

Just because a vehicle can do 155mph from the factory doesn't mean it won't kill you in a roll over.

Just my opinion! Everybody is different.

BTW...you're azz needs a cage...:)

Those pushing power and running 11.5's or under should get a cage for sure with the trap speeds you are running. I know the jeep protected me and my family pretty well being hit from behind causing about 4-5 flips/end-over-end at 70ish but 115-120 is there will be A LOT more force and inertia which will mean even more damage to the structure. If we had done 1 or 2 more flips I believe Stacy and I would have been attending her mom and pops funerals. :( Even at the speeds we were doing, with seatbelts on, we were lucky!

Not sure Andy...Was that the run where his spark plugs were the wrong ones or that Sarge had the wrong tune, or what is the run where the plugs were gapped too much and then Sarge couldn't find 93 octane...Or I think it was the run when Luis put back his old plugs changed his tune and tire pressure, while Sarge had bald tires. Actually I think it was the run when Luis gutted his Jeep and then Bill took out his wallet, bowl, and owners manual.
