: New PB for Dave (Hawkman996) - 12.73!!!
af_maineiac 02-17-2010, 06:38 PM Since he was nice enough to create a thread for me recently, starting this one is the least I could do! :D
Got a text from Dave earlier this evening - he ran a PB of 12.73 @ 105.5 mph in his new beast! His 60-ft time was 1.77, which was his best ever! Not sure what track he's at, but he's still going at it and tweaking the fuel and spark on his tune... hopefully he'll be at 12.6x by the end of the night!
Great to hear that he's doing well with his new rig - you deserve it buddy. WOOT!
.

At ORLANDO RACEWAY the DA there tonight at 7pm was - 572 ft and is dropping. With the DA getting lower he just might get into the 12.60s. The only thing i see is he is about 1 mph off on his speed. Hopefully he can get the tune all worked out to get the mph up there.
pjs1965 02-17-2010, 09:19 PM new jeep, new PB -- looking good for 2010 already!
hawkman996 02-17-2010, 09:46 PM I guess I don't have to make a thread! :p Thanks to Brian for posting it up and all the other texts I got back...I knew after my first 2 runs that the jeep felt strong and I was thinking 12.7 was a possibility.
After the first two runs (12.86@105 & 12.82@105) I tweaked the fuel settings but left the timing alone. When the last yellow flashed I nailed it and the tires spun pretty good so I thought the run was a wash. When I got the slip I was geeked out. A 1.77 60' is my best ever. I only pulled a 1.79 twice out of over a hundred runs in my last jeep. I got another 1.79 on my last run but it ended at a 12.84@104.8.
My previous best in my 08 jeep was a 12.89@104 and every one of my runs tonight was better than my previous best. I had 4 timeslips in the mid to low 12.8's and the second to last run I pulled my 12.7 out of the hat. I know I ran that time because the jeep had over an hour to cool as they were cleaning up the track. I should have let it cool again but I have to leave myself something to look forward to for my next visit. :p Still looking for my overall PB in the 12.6's as I went 12.70 in my 06 jeep.....I'm not far off at all. :)
Here is the full slip:
60'....1.775
330...5.221
1/8....8.114
MPH...84.84
1000..10.610
1/4....12.733
MPH...105.53

Awesome times Dave!! Looks like your tune is dialed in right bro! I have never been below a 1.856 60 ft with my current tune. So who said 08's were slow? Huh? Nice time bro!!
CentralTexHemi 02-17-2010, 09:51 PM Yeah looking at your 60' and 1/8 time we need to tweak your top end a bit so yeah more to look forward to.

That is exactly what I was thinking...I was trying to work with it more but people kept breaking on the track (always happens at Orlando) so I gave up and went home. I'm happy with the 12.7 for now. I finally got the dataviewer program working properly on my laptop today and I got some good logging in along w/vid of my a/f at wot.
CentralTexHemi 02-17-2010, 10:05 PM Oh yeah datalogging FTW, you hear that Harrison my boy Dave is coming for ya!!
Matt McKenzie 02-18-2010, 07:07 AM Awesome, way to go Dave!!!!!!!!
Blown-WK 02-18-2010, 07:52 AM Very nice Davie, only .03 off your 06 jeep PB. You'll be in 12.6s for sure with the LT's.

Ummm... yeah. I love Dave and all but, whenever he's ready to line them up, I'm ready. He's gotta make up .4. Hell, if I were there last night I would have gone 12.2's with that DA. Next time you hit the track Dave... let me know. I'll drive the 1.5 hours to that track and run it. Esp. with DA like that there. Our Wed. Nights don't start for a while at G'Ville.
Now that I've got my truck's issues sorted out.... I'm ready to see how low I can get it. Do they sell VP fuels down there?
hawkman996 02-18-2010, 02:15 PM Your truck would have taken me easily last night as the air was even better then when you were at Bradenton. The track prep was iffy but better than normal. I think you might have pulled a 12.2 last night. I would be more than happy for you guys to join me down in Orlando but remember it is a whole different ball game from Gainesville. You will be sitting in the staging lanes for a while.
There was a TBSS doing 13.9's with intake/tune/catback and he said the jeep is nice but it is too expensive for him. haha I paid less in my mods though and I'm over a second faster!
jim383 02-18-2010, 03:45 PM DAVE all i can say you better not run faster than me because im to dam old to start modding to catch you lol. Im still trying to catch WADE HEHE. Is letting my son drive as hes 125 lbs lighter than me mod lol. Right now with our stock 6.1 engines WADES 7.96/12.50 is the guy to catch. Im getting there with my 8.04 but its not going to be easy unless my son drives as we been doing launches to get him use to it so so i can at least get into the 7.90S/12.50S with our DA out here in CA.

Yup, Wade set the bar and that is what I'm after right now with my current mods. I think as long as the weather holds out (cold and dry) I may have a chance at 12.6's but for a 12.5 to happen I will need to have race gas in the tank. I plan to be back at the track next Wednesday....and loving every minute of it. Heck I still have to catch your 1/8th time since we have similar mods. ;)
I do miss my headers/exhaust because it sounded sahweet. I miss hearing my beast roar. The stock exhaust is nice for road trips though.
