Loving my new '07 I picked up on 3/10/07. In the last 5 weeks I have driven it 4700 miles. Most of it has been for work. But driving for work is now a pleasure. Only one ticket so far in BFE Louisiana. I put an Escort SR7 in it and it works great, you just have to slow down fast enough not to get a ticket. It has probably saved me 10 times so far. I put a in subwoofer and an amp which helps make the stereo tolerable. I have ordered the Peripheral IPod connector and tinted the front windows to match the rest. Last week I hauled 3500 pounds of ceiling tile plus the weight of the trailer (about 800 pounds) 200 miles from Austin, TX to San Angelo, TX. Except for slower acceleration, you could hardly tell it was hauling a trailer. I think this truck is highly underrated. That same trip I drove to Lubbock, TX (without the trailer). On the way back I had the cruise control set at 80 mph and rarely had to slow down. The trip computer said I got 18.5 mpg for the 190 mile trip. When I filled up, it used 11.1 gallons. That is 17.1 mpg, better than my former '04 Ford F150. In town is a different story.
This truck is not without faults, but I knew most of them going in. My next vehicle will probably be different, but I am going to enjoy this one to the fullest while I have it.

Did you haul 4,300 lbs with a Curt hitch? Hard to tell in the pic, but that's all it looks like you were using.

Yeah, I'm not believing that mileage. Something is wrong.

It is not a Curt hitch. I had a custom hitch made here in Austin, TX at Spillar Custom Hitches. It is similar to the Curt hitch, but the installer fabricated it to connect to the outer frame rails. He said it would be much stronger than the Curt design and should be able to haul much more than the 3500 rating that Jeep puts on the vehicle. It was very stable hauling with GC SRT8 even though it was a windy day. I will try to take some pictures of how the hitch was mounted.
As far as the gas mileage, the 17.1 is actual. My last trip to Stillwater, OK I averaged 16 mpg over 4 tanks. So I think the 17.1 is accurate. I had nitrogen put in my tires at 33 psi, maybe that has something to do with it.

i can never do better than 15 mpg if I reset, go on highway and set cruise. 17 or 18 is outstanding.

Incredible... With That High Of Fuel Economy Your Jeep Must Be One Of The 13.5 1/4 Mile Jeeps. I Only Get 14 On The Highway.

I averagre 13.8 MPG- 75% freeway driving, but with a heavy lead foot. I also redlight wot launch the beast every chance I get. MPG deffinitelly gets better with age, as about a month or two ago I was only averaging about 11.
When I reset the MPG indicator on the freeway I was getting an average of about 16 MPG.

I have a 2007 and I have been seeing 15 to and from work in rush hour stop and go traffic. I experienced 18 on a 400 mile trip to Iowa and back. That was running at 80 to 85 on the highway. :)
