: 30 K mile maintainance How much $$$ Please advise.......
wombat213 02-14-2010, 08:22 PM Hi guy's .................if all the fluids for oil service,t-case, and axle cost around $300-350 I believe how much is the 30K service as a whole from the dealer? as the jeep I just bought is due and I will feel better knowing that service is up to date. Please advise............$$$ Doe's/ will Valvaline or Jiffy lube do this service.
Thanks Tim.
Smok1n 02-14-2010, 09:28 PM I just got my 30,000 mile done a few weeks ago. Cost me $1,100.

What is all included in the 30k mile service? That seems super expensive...
mrpositraction 02-15-2010, 07:05 AM Damn! I am going to have to call my dealer and inquire if they did this before they sold it. They informed me the maintenance schedule had to be followed to keep the warranty. Well I recieved the vehicle with 35,000 miles and the dealer told me all the fluids were changed, assuming he meant EVERYTHING not just the oil. $1100 bones is nuts.
EDIT: I should mention they gave me a lifetime powerterrain warranty, I wouldn't be worrying so much for 1000 miles which I have already passed.
rumplemenz 02-15-2010, 12:12 PM the dealer told me all the fluids were changed
sounds pretty vague and i honestly think they didnt touch sht in terms of rear and front diffs/TC etc... just my opinion

Oh I agree with. The more I deal with the dealership I bought this from the more I learn how little they know about the differences between the SRT8 and a normal Jeep as the sent me an owners manual to a normal Jeep.....didn't even have specification for the 6.1L or a maintenance schedule. Also, the salesman who I bought it from is no longer there.....I always seem to get those salesman. When I bought my 07 F150 new in 2007 I had a salesman that promised me the world only to be disappointed....even with it in writing. Finally got what I was promised, just took a long time and many many trips to the dealer. My sales for my 2010 F150 did a good job, truck just wasn't for me.

Primer Gray 02-15-2010, 03:22 PM Just for reference, at a little over 35k I was quoted $1,600.00 for fuel injection service, replacing plugs, replacing transefer case fluid, fron and rear diff service, brake flush, power steering flush, and tranny flush. This is incredibly pricey to me. I declined and plan on doing most of it this weekend. Smok1n, what did they do on yours?
wombat213 02-15-2010, 06:26 PM This seems real expensive......................if fluids run say $350, what is it i'm missing that would cost $1100 to $1600. Any body else .........suggestion? Surely lots of members have had the dealer do this? Should I get the brakes bled, trany and power steering flushed at 30K?
wombat213 02-15-2010, 08:21 PM Primer Gray, all/most the things you listed are not intended for the 30K service going by the service schedule.............spark plugs are not due till 60K I think? Smok1n what did they do for $1100 ?
Smok1n 02-15-2010, 08:26 PM replaced all fluids, front/rear diff, and some other BS... I didn't really ask too many questions like I probably should have. I was in a hurry that day and had to get in and get out quickly. I figured it was way cheaper than my M3 so I was actually kind of happy when I heard the price. It could have been worse i guess.

Thinking about this, you're probably right. However they marked that everything had tested "failed". I was skeptical as well, and declined service. I'm going to dive into it all this weekend and see how the plugs and fluid all look.
Looks similar to what they performed on Smok1n’s rig. Maybe this is SOP for dealerships to quote these services at 30K even though they are not needed yet?
Primer Gray 02-16-2010, 01:17 PM King,
Those links are broken FYI.
wombat213 02-16-2010, 07:26 PM Primer Gray.....................every thing tested had failed? could you be more specific ............did you take it in for a check up and they found all these issues? Are you the original owner? If not did you just buy like me? I had 28k on mine ......your making me nervous. Thanks for the info.............
wombat213 02-19-2010, 09:54 PM Primer Gray, let us know how your fluid changes go/turn out this week end. I'm thinking of doing the same for myself................just don't want to get in over my head, and the weather here sucks so it'll be a couple of weeks before I can get to it anyway. Good luck.............
wombat213 02-21-2010, 06:07 PM Went and saw my local Valvoline around the corner Good news............$91.00 for mobile 1 oil change $64.99 for Front axleI had the rear Dif replaced 1K ago so no need there? and $64.99 for the transfer case all synthetic oils recomended for SRT8. According to Valvoline guy(Mike) has been there 7yrs said he's done several SRT8 in the area on a regualr basis. I questioned him about what I knew( not much) He even offered a $30-$40 discount with out me even asking. So out the door $220.00 for my 30 K maintainance done. I will go the end of this week unless told by someone on here why I should not.Hope this is helpfull to other members. I started a week ago a thread on 30 K service and will copy this to that.
downstate 02-21-2010, 06:10 PM what the ****?!? do it yourself and it will cost nothing close to 1 grand. don't let the dealer do it they will **** it up anyways by putting the wrong transfer case fluid in.

Transfer case should not be done by Valvoline unless you give them the correct fluid. It needs to come from Chrysler. There is no substitute.
wombat213 02-21-2010, 07:07 PM Yeah ........your right i will double check with them first...............is there no equivelent to the mopar transfer case fluid in the after market?
Yeah ........your right i will double check with them first...............is there no equivelent to the mopar transfer case fluid in the after market?
The answer is NO and unless somebody on here tells you otherwise do not believe them. One fluid only. NV-146 PM Resumespeed or BuilderBill if you don't believe me.
wombat213 02-22-2010, 07:19 PM Thanks ...................I believe you I found a bunch of threads that King had posted in the past................Castrol I believe makes this for Mopar from what i read in the other threads.................and you can purchase it on line from www.moparstore.com $42.00 a Qt.

I'm glad. I would hate for you to cause damage to your TC to save a few bucks. There is a new thread posted about the fluid today.

Sorry sorry sooorryyyy, I should have explained further. Nothing to be nervous about; the dealer uses "failed" as a term that it needs to be changed out, not that anything on the car actually failed. When I worked at Toyota, we used Green, Yellow, Red, referring to what type of condition parts or fluids were in, my dealer out here does it similarly with "pass" and "fail". I'm assuming they just put "fail" if fluids are slightly dirty in an attempt to sell you service. I think this, because I glanced at some of mine, and they all looked ok. I did not get a chance to pull plugs, or look at diff fluids...but did look into my manual for suggested maintenance, and a lot of the services have "except SRT8" next to the suggested service mileage, but do not tell you when to perform maintenance on SRT8s...Do I have the wrong manual? And no, I'm the second owner of mine, I bought mine with 34k on it, and I'm not sure if the owner, or carmax(where I bought it) serviced it before I picked it up.
wombat213 02-23-2010, 07:23 PM If you go to www.wkjeeps.com/wk_srt8.htm this is the history of our jeeps as well as a wealth of information including maintainence schedule and you can print off a complete SRT8 Manual.....................hope this is of help. Did you do your service yourself? Mine 07 28K and as long as your taking care of the 30K service now you'll be ok. Most of the other fluids do not need change till 60K I believe. Use the site above I use it all the time................What did you pay for your 07? if you don't mind me asking.Good luck and enjoy your new time i'm have a ball in mine.............
santov 02-23-2010, 10:32 PM wombat213- Where are you? If you're in NorCal I'll help you out.
wombat213 02-23-2010, 10:48 PM Your a good lad to offer ............though i'm in Kansas City cheer to ya...........
Primer Gray 02-25-2010, 01:23 PM I paid about 34 for mine, with a lowjack and extended warranty. And I saw a mistake I wrote above, I think it had about 24 or 26K on it when I bought it, not 34.
