: Thoughts on the 2011 GC Body Style
Primer Gray 02-12-2010, 02:47 PM Because even after ten beers, I don't think she'd be pretty.
Seriously, the jeep looks rounded out, and almost looks like an Infinity FX! There is nothing sharp or angular about it, and nothing about the car pops to me; I'm not into what they've done with the body. Our rigs have a rugged, raw look that give them a WOW factor, these look like a step back to the rounded out body styles of 90’s cars . Even the rims look like they're off a Toyota Sienna.
I will admit, the leaked pictures are not of an SRT8 model, and as you know regular GCs and SRT8s have notable changes in body trim...but can slightly different trim make the 2011 look mean? Thoughts?
navyavi469 02-12-2010, 03:55 PM I think when most people see the GEN II Jeep SRT8 they're going to nut themselves.... just my optomistic opinion.
SPEEDDEMON 02-12-2010, 04:06 PM The inside looks really luxury, the back looks borrowed off the first X5's as well as some outside styling cues which I can see where the FX comes in. Finally, the front end looks like an afterthought. The front end makes it look awful but with the right amount of ponies and torque and sub 4, 0-60 times if jeep makes the srt8 like this and can somehow make especially the front end look a lot meaner, I would be willing to forget the styling and consider it! The other thing is that vehicles look a lot different in person than they do in pictures..Nothing is better than meeting them in person.

I agree, and honestly I was much more skeptical of the current WK design when it first came out than I am with the new WK2. That being said I love my SRT over the regular WK2, but if/when the WK2 SRT shows it face I think we'll have some more believers than currently like to admit ;)
liquiddi 02-12-2010, 04:38 PM If I wanted a BMW I would have bought a BMW.
calgary.srt8 02-12-2010, 04:42 PM I am not a fan of the new design in pictures either. The front end looks like a throw-back to the previous model with the flat headlights. Plus instead of having a 75% - 50% wheel line looking at it from the side, it looks like it is all wheels.
However, other vehicles over the years have grown on me and once I see this one at the car show I hope it will grow on me too.
Kinda ironic since Chrysler has been criticized for their interior for years. The interior looks like dynamite and their exterior looks like a... fizzled fuse???...
higshemi 02-12-2010, 05:24 PM I like it from what I've seen so far and I bet I will like it more once I see them on the road.
a990dna 02-12-2010, 05:57 PM It looks like a VW Turd-egg on steroids...

what, the Turd-egg?
mandan007 02-12-2010, 08:08 PM No turd-egg for me, thumbs down on body style!
scottina06 02-12-2010, 08:44 PM yep...the turd-egg
calgary.srt8 02-12-2010, 09:35 PM Well Chrysler does build VW's mini-van.... so maybe... VW is building the WK2??? lol
tugboatchad 02-12-2010, 11:45 PM I cant even believe for a second you all would compare it to a turd-egg! Ive only seen the drawing board rendering. If there is another out there im unaware! That being said, I think the new style is more square, more angular, and more mean than the current models! That being said, I think it looks like ours but with more attitude and come phuk with me toughness! I will be definately if they produce it buy a wk2 srt8 if they come out with one. Just maybe second or third year body style. Of course I will keep my current one as well. I love this vehicle and all like minded things considered! Lets try and remember that Jeep is reading these posts and we all know no artists rendering is full reality, so lets support our boys! G*d D@mn im drunk!

jessiethe3rd 02-13-2010, 01:10 AM i'll hold judgement until i see it...
Primer Gray 02-15-2010, 09:55 AM Yeah, too round for me, now that you mention it, it does look like that VW. I don't think this would sell; I certainly wouldn't buy one.
RuffRyder 02-15-2010, 10:12 AM i like it as if the family is gonna drive it
Rez90 02-15-2010, 10:52 AM I like it. The interior is very very nice.
QuickOne 02-15-2010, 10:52 AM Granted a photoshop rendition, but aggression can be added very easily to the design. I think performance #'s also inheritanly make some cars look better than they really do..For example, the WRX STI;VW GTI;Mitsu Evo XI and the Ariel Atom. Not great looking rides, but when your realize the performance they have, they grow on you.

mrpositraction 02-15-2010, 12:08 PM Every vehicle forum I have been on beats up on the new model like it is an insult to your current ride. My previous rig was a F150. I had an 07 and loved the body style. When the new body style came out it in 09 everybody was dogging it just like here, now look it at, probably one of the best body styles (maybe except 78-79 :)) Ford has come out with, and sales show it. I think it is going to look good. Between the power numbers announced and the renderings, it has me wanting to wait, drive the 06 longer and pick me one up in 2011 or 2012.
a-kon 02-15-2010, 12:43 PM I love it. It has grown on me a lot and it looks a lot more "put together"...at least in the photos. I like that rendering only lose the scoop and add some 5.9 style louvers on the hood...and for the love of God no port holes or fender vents.
mrpositraction 02-15-2010, 12:46 PM LOL, I like the hood :)
If the body looks like anything in the drawing I would say a Trailblazer SS from the side

Let's hope and pray this is what it will look like... I've seen designer renditions on what the Dodge Charger should look like... seems to never happen. That's why SRT engineering needs to get the VOC from the guys that's been around for awhile.. like Jim383, and others that were around muscle cars during the 70s.
The Jeep GC is an exception.. however, I'd own a Dodge Charger SRT if it looked similar to the 70-71 Charger.
