After Saturday's autox school, several national level drivers (which would not include me ;) ) did fun runs in both my Jeep and a new Shelby GT. The Shelby was on street tires in dry conditions so it was apples to apples.
5 highly skilled drivers swapped back and forth between the two vehicles over about 20 runs, and I was shocked to see that the Jeep ran essentially the same times as the Shelby. A 4800 pound brick should not be able to do this.
Now, if they only made rcomp tires in our size....
