I am new to this forum. I recently (800mi ago) purchased a GCSRT8. So far I am enjoying it very much. I have owned a number of SUVs in the past and have had no problem with a hitch for my bike rack. The bike rack mates to a 2" receiver but I am sure I could utilize an adapter. Looking for ideas to enable the use of my bike rack or maybe purchase another style of rack.

There are many versions of Hitch styles,, here is just an example,, http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3651&highlight=Hitchalso you can go to search and type in hitch for more results..
Many people here are very creative with different types of hitches..

Good luck..

The tongue weight of the Curt hitch is 200 lbs. I have a 2" bike rack I would like to use. That being said I would need a 1 1/4" to 2" adapter then put the rack into the 2" receiver. After all is said and done with (2) bikes on the rack am I concerned about max of 200 lb tongue weight Please help!!!!

I don't think an adapter will fit in - not enough room unless the 1 1/4" part is plently long to clear the bumper facia. Just buy a 1 1/4" bike rack and you will be fine. Bikes are not that heavy and there is a bit of "buffer factor" in the weights.

I'd give Curt a call and get overall lengths of each piece and then get a rough measurement under Jeep from mounting plate to outside rear of bumper. Look at how much clearance you think you'd have from toop of arch to adapter top also. The D-190 with an overall length of 10" might work.

See what the say. It's hard for me to visualize each bike, and the rack coming to a total of more than 200lbs. I don't think that should be a concern even if total weight is a little over. Good luck.

ok, pics.

an adapter should work. as you can see a 2" will fit between the stock exhaust and under the egde of the bumper without rubbing anything. although the rack will stick out pretty far with an adapter. i have a rack that necks down to 1.25".

Greetings... I am ready to purchase a SRT (my second Cherokee) but I must tow a small box trailer as I race Motorcycles. Has anyone found a tow hitch option that allows this machine to tow? I am frantically looking for this application ! I am new to this forum ... if anyone can assist I would greatly appreciate it. troyclement@aol.com 214-477-6864

It suprises me to see how little clearance you have between the bike rack and your exhaust tips. I'm having all kinds of trouble with the exhaust tips clanking on the Curt hitch on hard right turns without anything in the reciever. If I loosen the clamp and lower the angle of the tips to give me more clearance, the tips look goofy, like they are too low for the opening in the rear bumper. Is there another clamp location I should be adjusting the exhaust from?
