So I called a local guy who does wheels for the dealers. He refinishes them and does a good job. I show him my wheels and he says he can't do them and has to send them off. Not a bad price $220/wheel and they strip them down and replate them and clear coat each wheel. problem is that I want black chrome, any one know someone that can/will do this?

Its about the same price to get them chrome plated. I think California Chrome does them. Pm lchevere, he had his done.

I was thinking the same thing, I just had wheels done on a car for $50 per wheel but that was just sand, paint, clear.

Is it? The best price I could find, that includes shipping both ways.

They strip the wheel to bare aluminum and then redo the entire wheel.

I found a place in Kansas City that does the "PVD", which the black chrome according to the girl I talked to, waiting for the owner to call me back.

I keep getting point to the California place but have heard 4-6 weeks, which is not acceptable since I drive this vehicle every day.

Thanks, keep it coming.

I think Wheels America or whatever they're called refinishes the entire wheel in your driveway in their trailer for $125 per wheel. Check your local yellow pages. We have one here in Omaha and in the spring I'm having all 4 done and they gave me a discount so it's only $400 to get all 4 done...

Well damn in that case you could just buy a set of black or chrome replicas on ebay for like 800 bucks.

The "come to your house" guys can't do it, I asked them 1st. $100 per wheel in my drive way with almost zero downtime was very attractive.

Show me a set of replica wheels, I can't find them.

how badly damaged are they that they cant do it in their truck?

Just the simple fact that the chrome coating is coming off in the lug holes made it impossible for them to do it......I shouldn't say impossible, they can do it, just not re-clear coat it and I would have to polish them all them time to keep from oxidizing. This is what they told me.

Thank you. When I looked last night all I found was EXPENSIVE wheels. It is an option, though, having OEM is always nice.

I had my wheels redone from wheels america and they showed up with this big box truck at my door but he couldn't do anything he said he needed to take them with him to be redone at the factory. He charged me 135.00 a wheel and they came out GREAT!!
I thought the price was very resonable.

I know. I didn't know what it was called before, and PDV does what I want. I wanted black chrome, this process does what I want.

What did they do? Was your chrome plating (or whatever is on our stock wheels) come off around the lug holes?
