Holy crap, that exhaust was disgusting and that acceleration bit at the end looked pathetic. Maybe it was faster than it seemed, but......

IMO a Caravan sounds meaner. It must still be a kitten. Those things just aren't for me, looks like a bloated 911 limo(almost Pacer-like).:)

No bark and no bite on launch but there top end is killer. Still not worth it IMHO.

I can get a JGC SRT8 and a Charger SRT8 and have money left for mods.

Ok soooo.....I usually just read threads like and take it with a grain of salt....but i feel like i need to throw my .02cents in.....

Tommy2500-- 100K list with 40K in mods???
--My MSRP (Cayenne Turbo w/lots of extras) 98,799, but I only paid 83,799.....who pays MSRP??
--Mods-- he only has an exhaust and ECU tune.....GIAC tune $2300 (all options) Fabspeed Exhaust w/bypass pipes = $2500....so i dont know where you got 40K in mods....or how much you pay for yours....but 5K would cover that no problem....

--I will agree with you guys on the launch/takeoff......that was VERY weak and a poor representation of a launch/takeoff....I will get a wayy better one for you sometime this week!! AND also the extremely ugly decals on the upper windshield...and aftermarket porsche emblem on the rear tailgate.....no class!!

As for the exhaust note.....our Cayennes have 4 sets of Cats....2 primary and 2 secondary.....most people swap out the secondarys for the bypass pipes ($550)...so even with a cat-back exhaust and bypass pipes the car is still pretty quite....seeing how it still has 2 huge primary cats.....I ended up buying a set of cat-back straight pipes from AWE tuning and the car really sounds like a monster now...even with the main cats(no mufflers)

Keep this in mind too---Porsche and Jeep are very different companies with different objectives.....Jeep made the SRT8 to defer people away from the more expensive german SUV's ...which it clearly does well (your arguments about the Cayenne usually revolve around the price) The Cayenne was made to be an alternative to BMW/MB SUV's with the intention of speed, extreme luxury and capability all wrapped up in Porsche styling......each car has its highs and lows and IN MY OPINION compliment each other well.....

The Cayenne Turbo is an amazing highway vehicle....so smooth and fast, with top end that makes C6 corvettes scared (80-140 is scary) The cayenne also has the capability to raise from 7.5 inches to 10.2 inches......I have used this feature more then once and it is more than just a little handy.....the locking diffs make anything offroad easy and in the snow this truck kills my 02 Tahoe ...which is also a great snow truck....But the turbo needs specific conditions to shine....with that being said its NOT a great around the town car....short stops, traffic and constant starting/shutting off of the engine isnt too much fun....

The SRT8 is also fast, smooth and has crazy low end stop light power....It IS A great around the town car and is alot more well mannered than the Cayenne in these environments.....(which has been confirmed by another SRT8 owner who has had both of these vehicles) But....with a steady 6.5 inch ground clearence (not lowered) your not going anywhere off road or even a really bumpy dirt road.....

My little brother drives a 05 WK 5.7L GC and I have been modding it for him.....SRT8 body kit, JET chip, Borla Exhaust, Airraid intake, Powerstop rotors/Stillen Ceramic Pads and black 20's.....I love it and plan on getting heads/cams and poss eventually the supercharger.....When I installed the SRT8 bumper I was AMAZED when it scraped coming out of my driveway!!! (this is pre-Eiback lowering kit, which just came in) So in the end it looks like our companies are having a bit of an identity crisis.....A Jeep that cant go off road but is faster then a Porsche and a Porsche that can go off road but gets beat on road by a Jeep....

In the end it just comes down to preference ( and possibly financial situation) The interiors of these cars plays a big role in the price and difference of these SUVs also..... which is where most of the time is spent

Now dont take this the wrong way....But the Jeeps interior is made of "cheaper quality parts" ....the overabundant plastic, the "leather" , horrible NAVI system with no aftermarket potential (gone through 3 already) and the lack of anything original.....but thats not what your paying for in a Jeep...its not sopposed to be a extreme luxo ute.....Where the Cayenne's entire dash/doors and seats are made with some of the nicest leather I have ever seen/felt.....a full suede headliner 2 LCD TV's(instument cluster and NAVI) with inputs already installed for other equipment, EVERY other gadget you can think of and a really functional layout.....

As for reliability issues(which have been brought up in other threads) All I am going to say is......we dont have a section for technical problems on our forum and if you search it ...you wont find 1/4 of the complaints problems as in your thread section.....and on a similar note....customer service is uncomparable......I called 2 Jeep dealerships to get the rear fog lights for the rear bumper....one told me SRT8s dont have ANY sort of light in the back and the other had to call me back a day later after talking to a "Specialist" meanwhile both of these dealers have sold over 10 SRT8's...Whenever i need something for the Cayenne...EVERYTHING is covered....including free flatbed towing from anywhere in the USA to wherever I want in the USA....free loaners (Porsches or Audis only) and the list goes on and on....

I know I have been going on for awhile but I will wrap it up.....
These SUVs are NOT really comparable....they were made with 2 different objectives in mind.... and it really just comes down to which you prefer....if your used to buying high end german imports...you would probably look to the Cayenne for an SUV....but your more of a domestic guy....it makes sense to get the Jeep.....but its all about preference .....

The bottom line is there shouldnt be any hating going on between us.....clearly we both like Fast SUV's which most people really dont like.....(especially when all they see is our taillights) and there is no need to nit-pick all the differences ....they are both BAD A$$ SUV's and thats it....regardless of which one is faster, nicer, more expensive, off road capable, domestic or imported..........Cant we all just get along!!!!

ps...im not spellchecking or grammar checking...my hands hurt and i need a drink...hahhaa:D

Great points and very diplomatic. I must agree with them and would love to see a video of you blasting off...I've always thought inside of the Cayenne is absolutely eeemazing (which most people do point out when we are comparing the trucks) and the inside of the Jeep definitely leaves something to be desired (cool, just cheap). Had the interior been more important, I may have picked up the Cayenne. My most important deciding factor for the GCSRT8 is that it gives me a woody everytime I see it and the Cayenne does not. It's a good thing we all don't like the same cars, women, etc. Life would be boring. Hope that last sentence wasn't TMI (too much information). :)

I work for Porsche so I can say I have driven my fair share of Cayenne Turbos and the new 2008 4.8 Cayenne Turbo. They are very fast machines especially on top but I am still a jeep guy at heart. Just for giggles, look at this stock 265hp Grand Cherokee do the same donut. http://videos.streetfire.net/search/jeep+overland/0/9056deb1-3f37-4029-a6fa-3a13aef1c319.htm

Awesome post. Given this is a CG board, I know everyone hates on other cars, and get upset at other boards disrespecting our choice of vehicles. Eh, who cares.
