I've had my 07 SRT8 for just a little over 4 months now, with just over 6,000 miles on the odometer and all 4 brake rotors have become scored so badly that they all needed to be replaced.
Is this normal for these Brembos?
Now before you ask, I don't drive the car particularly hard and I don't race it. My daily commute is barely 5 miles and the bulk of the mileage is highway driving. My 2000 Grand Cherokee went nearly 7 years without requiring the brake rotors to be machined.
Fortunately I have a decent dealer and he immediately replaced all four brake pads and rotors without argument. Even so, I'm terrified that this is a sign of things to come. Had my Jeep been past the 12 month/12,000 mile mark this repair would have cost me nearly $1,500. I know that all of the other SRT8 models have had TSBs issued regarding rotor scoring, but there has been none for the Jeep SRT8s I wonder why? It's clearly a problem. At this rate I'll accumulate $10,000 in brake repairs before I even get the loan paid off.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
