so i've given it some thought and i'm dumpin the jeep...though i love it and aside from the trans./other refinement issues it's been a great ride, but i've got a line on a burgandy/tan vette and i can't come up w/ a reason not to do it.

Let me just say this......
The Vette is an awsome car- No Doubt. I even considered it a few days ago......... but......
Look around every corner and what do you see?
To me the exclusivity of the GC SRT-8 is great. Beats my old lightning 2to1.
I hope you like being "regular folk" and not the guy that stands out and gets complimented on his ride.
just my 2 cents- good luck none the less :)

You want complements? My seat of the pants double secret random poll has produced the following results of waves, nods, looks (neck bending and words spoken in the past 6 weeks:

Super Bee....1,000,000
E55 AMG...3
X5 4.4....0

Now I may be a little off on the Bee Results, it sure seems like it. WHile the Jeep got looks when I had it, not in the same neck bending league as the bee. It also is a cop magnet.

The forum is a great place for vette owners, I hang out in the "forced induction" section.

When you get your vette just make sure you always give the "Corvette wave" when approaching a fellow Vette owner on the street.

Paint a GC SRT this color (or any exclusive ride for that matter) and would get the same amount of looks........

Well if we could get an "Arrest Me First" able-to-be-seen-from-outerspace-by-synchronous-earth-orbit-satellites YELLOW paint option for our Jeeps, we would BEE noticed as much as your new Charger!:D :D

Yes you would, probably more so. Only bad part is the cops notice, and on the highway when people gawk next to you at 70, they forget to stay in their own lane.

I got out of a perfect 10K mile 04 C5 to get my Jeep and have never looked back. Different vehicles to be sure, but the Jeep is much more practical and just as much fun to drive in the real word. The only downside to the GC is that it uses about 50% more gas.

For what it's worth, I also had no trouble at all keeping up with a guy in a brand new C6 automatic a couple of weeks ago with my 1K mile stock GC...up to about 100. He (and I) were both surprised.

If you want to go C6, I would wait for the 08 model as there is a significant power boost and other enhancements coming, particularly on the Z51 model.

Good luck with your decision.

I love the C6.

I believe this would go perfectly with the SRT8:

For 2008 the Blue devil is rumored to have 750 h.p. stock, as well as a certificate from a high performance driving school to qualify to purchase one. I heard a couple of months ago about a 6.2 liter 650 h.p. until a quality source said it would most likely be the 7.0 liter supercharged, supposedly Callaway cars plan to make the necessary upgrades under factory warranty(just like the 88" Callaway Twin turbos). That would be one hell of a car, but don't be surprised at a m.s.r.p at 100K!

Considering the number of wrecked Carrera GTs that were driven by charter members of the More Money Than Brains club, I think that's a great idea.

Believe me there are some vettes over there that make mine look like a poodle.

That Blue Devil is gonna be a joke, you can buy a new vette, turbo it, lay down over 700HP, and still get over 26 mpg on the highway.

Stagefright,

Not intended to take over the post, but where did you have your C5 modified with the TT?

I thought I'd drag this old thread out since the '08 C6 specs have been released. With the bigger LS3, 36 hp bump, and WAY improved interior... I may have to add a coupe to the stable...

2008 Corvette:
All-new LS3 6.2L V-8 engine for Coupe and Convertible:
430 hp - 424 lb.-ft. of torque (575 Nm)*
436 hp / 428 lb.-ft. with new, optional dual-mode exhaust system
-High-flow cylinder heads -Enhanced valvetrain -High-flow intake manifold
-Larger-bore block with structural enhancements -Improved manual transmission shift effort

I wouldn't say WAY improved interior. I'd say the OPTIONAL 4LT package is nice but can be had my aftermarket with better materials.
I would like the LS3 but I can't get Lemans Blue in 08' so I'll stick with my LS2 with Twin Turbos :)

To each his own. I hate re-inventing the wheel. If I need 427 cu. in. and over 500 hp, I'll get a Z06. If I want an upgraded interior, I really don't want to wait and have to send it to Caravaggio or others. They do great work, but with the money I spend on that I can buy more machineguns. My Title II toys have more than doubled in value since I bought them. My cars, not so much. But everyone spends their $$$$ the way that makes them happy.

The 4LT interior option is what a lot of us Corvette fans have been looking for and asking the General to offer. I had an '01 Z06, and the interior/seats looked like they came out of a cheap motel. The '08 Z51 has 51 more hp, a removeable targa roof, and an interior that would have made me keep my '01 Z. My '73 2-top convertible had a better interior than my Z. My '89 coupe had much better seats.
