Guys,
Do they still make these? I remember in the early 90's I had 1 on my Monte SS and it worked great. If anyone set of my alram- I would get paged on the pager. I think it's great especially when you park your truck away from where you work and you can't keep tabs on it.
If they still make this or anyone has one, please advise w some specifics.
Thanks in advance,

There are quite few 2-way alarm systems now where the remote is also the pager. Not only do these system notify the remote when the alarm is triggered, they also give status info, zone info, out of range warnings, and can be used to arm/disarm within the full range of the 2-way system. I don't recall what the range is but I believe it's comparable to any of the stand alone pager systems like Autopage. Clifford has a 2-way system in their G5 lineup, so I imagine the same is sold under the other DEI brands.

Check out the Viper Alarms...I just installed one on my CSRT8...works great, the pager is very small and fits on my key rear...remote start was also an option with it but I choose to hold off...I will probably add it eventually.

As for the GCSRT8...my wife's sled has the remote start...for the Viper Alarm System, I would have to disengage the remote start to add the alarm with pager and if we want to keep remote start I would have to add an aftermarket remte start (basically Viper's)...this is due to the frequencies I believe...basically the two system would work against each other....hope that makes sense...this is what was explained to me...we have not added the alarm piece to the Jeep yet...

I had the Viper 791XV installed. It has the pager remote, is very small and has a belt clip if you don't want the added mass to your keys. I had the remote start installed with mine and I love it. I am also going to have set up to roll the windows down remotely. When the Jeep is shut off and the alarm armed the windows go up automatically.

Might be what you are looking for.

I own a car stereo shop and install every type of alarm there is out there. IMHO the GC stock setup w/the remote start button on the key is all I need and probably will never change it unless this one malfunctions.

I've installed all sorts of alarm systems in my vehicles over the last 15-plus years from "talking" alarms, paging systems, GPS, etc. The weakest link of any system is the installation. Just be sure you know the reputatation of the shop doing the work. Before I opened my own store, I used to "shop" for an installer my friends had used and stuck with him. Trust me, it's not the shop that works on your vehicle, it's the installer.

Exactly why I would NEVER let a chain store touch my vehicle. Too high a turnover rate. My installer has been working for me for over three years and has helped build the reputation of my store well. People ask around town and he gets asked for by name as soon as they enter the front door...*true story*.

You are absolutely correct and this advice is true for any type of electronics installation in your car. That's why, besides myself, I only let the certain installers at the shop I used to work at touch my cars. Look for an established speciality retailer, talk to some of their past customers. Many of these better shops will offer lifetime warranty on their installations.

Go with DEI ie...Python,Clifford,or Viper and make sure the one you choose has the all new for 07' One mile range!!! Also the install is by far thee most important aspect of an alarm so just some words of wisdom...No Best Buy,or Circuit City...

My friend Greg had a compustar on his 96' Impala and someone knocked on his window...he came outside and was robbed and shot and his car stolen with his key...not very safe if you ask me especially when a thief can alert you to come outside by knocking on your window!!! Scary!!!
