: Which SRT would you pick?

Im trying to decide on an SRT. I like the CSRT4, but I would RWD or AWD. Either one I pick would be used am Im gonna try to find one as close to stock as possible cause I want to add upgrades to it. As of right now, Im leaning towards the Jeep. But Im also looking at am 06 (Only an 06) 4-Door SRT-10 Ram; but it doesnt seem to have as many aftermarket parts or is it just me? So I want the one with a lot of aftermarket parts, but its toss up. Which would you choose AND WHY?

Jeep SRT8 (specially 2009)

WHY:
The pimp look... :D

Hemi...:bigthumb:

the look on other sports car owner when you beat them like  (priceless)...

perfomance gauges (2009 and 2010)....

Get a JEEP SRT8. No question about it.
Because it is the quickest vehicle that Chrysler make besides the Viper.
And it is a sleeper. And with a few mods it becomes a MONSTER.

Go with the Jeep SRT-8! Better looking IMO and quicker than the Ram SRT-10, especially the QC. My dad has the RC Ram SRT-10 and I hand him his ass every time. Plus, I'd be wary of the tranny in the QC. It's supposedly borrowed from the diesel models and I know first hand they can't handle much extra power.

Now for a shameless plug, I have an '07 GC SRT-8 for sale in the for sale threads listed at $20140. Pretty much bone stock.

JEEP SRT-8 HANDS DOWN. I had a 06 srt-8 magnum and it was ok but not great. The lx body cars are a lot lighter and have posi rear ends (08 & up do) and there 3.06 gears dont help any to better there 60' times. To bad the JEEPS dont have posi in there front and rear cases. So far my best bone stock time is about 7 tenths faster than a bone stock lx or ly car and thats in the 1/8 mile that i have seen out here.

The ram srt 10 besides horrible mpg has the worst resale value. 06 srt 10 are goin for around 20 and were 55 and 60 brand new. Challenger is fine but everybody and thier mother has one. The charger is getting a much needed facelift so the old ones will be up for sale all over the place and prolly lose thier value as well. The calibers are done with thier models So not sure how much aftermarket stuff will be out thoer in the future. It would take alott of money to keep up with the jeep for any other srt in the line up.

Jeep FTW
4 wheel drive FTMFW!!!

If not the Jeep than I would get a challenger, or ram srt10 these would be my 2 choices.... (MAYBE a charger w/ some serious mods :D)----- It would be nice to hit mid-LOW 11`s NA!! must be nice to own a LX! ;)

Obviously the viper but I doubt your considering. Depends on what you want it for. I like the challenger but they are not as practical as the others. I went with the jeep cause its really fast, seats 5, and has 4wd for the bad weather.

Stay away from the quad cab ram srt-10. They only have 4 speed autos in them and it really slows them down.

You are asking this here?

I went from a Charger SRT to the Jeep and never looked back. Sure the Charger is the sexiest looking of the SRT8s. But the Jeep just drops jaws.

A Question that should never be asked , just figure out for yourself what does the others SRT have that the JEEP don't have NOTHING / What does the JEEP have that the others don't have EVERYTHING !!!

though a caliber isnt a bad ride for a 4 banger it still cant be compared to a grand cherokee. lol i'd go with the Jeep for sure...unless you honestly prefer a smaller SRT...then it's between the caliber and the neon (both can be made to run very quick)...JEEP SRT8 FTW!!!

I could see getting the Ram SRT10 if you also need the utility of a pickup. I will miss that going away from my Hemi Ram to the GC in terms of being able to carry stuff around, but in terms of everything else from performance to comfort - the GC wins.

I'm going to buck the trend here -- I'd love to have a Challenger SRT8. If I had to do it all over again and Dodge had the same incentives as Jeep, it would be a HARD choice to make.

Considering you can get a Challenger into the low 11s and even the 10s much easier than the Jeep is what's swaying me. Consider this:
- a 440 powered Jeep ran a best 11.452 (so far) and the SRT8 Challenger weighing in at nearly 700lbs less =? 10.8x or better (challenger SRT8 = 4140lbs, Jeep = 4819lbs)
- you can run with slicks
- you get an LSD rear
- you can autocross it!
- there's more aftermarket support for it
- you can do burnouts! (OK, childish I know)
- it looks AWESOME

Then again, it's hard to get away from the Jeep's positives.

I have 3. the Challenger is my favorite, but I have only driven 2/3 times since I purchased the Jeep. The Jeep is a blast to drive, and will through you back in your seat unlike the other 2. Also the Jeep is a great sleeper vehicle. Buy the Jeep.

The caliber sucks IMO. If I could afford a viper I would get one in snakeskin green droptop. Next, is the Jeep, then the 300.

The Challenger is a beautiful car... I pondered it many times. For hauling utility, room, sleeper appeal, comfort, and the fastest stop light to stop light speed the AWD Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is probably one of Chrysler's greatest creations. I would have never purchased an American car prior to this car. In my opinion if you are looking for utility... nothing beat the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.

Since some of you are asking me why I would ask this on this forum, Ive asked this on a couple other foums too. But the others seem to choose different cars. And I wasnt including the Viper, lol. I didnt even think about them cause there more, expensive, I should say, lol. And yeah, I was leaning towards the GC cause of the versatility of it. How are the aftermarket parts for GC though compared to the other SRT's?

Just poke around here... not a lot of 10 second Jeeps but plenty 11 second Jeeps. Just need a Vortech to push it. Suspension, transmissions... plenty of stuff to keep you going (oh forgot the CMR market... plenty of tuners!)

How about an SRT8 Charger AWD ?? That would be a hot setup !! If they would make one I would own it. I've got to wonder how much weight the transfer case would add.

There is a lot out there. strokers, superchargers, custom turbo setups and hellion is supposed to be coming out with a bolt on setup. There are a decent number of tuners and quite a few bolt ons to keep you happy. There is also good driveline support with aftermarket trans and TC's

This is true but if you poke around at LX forum, there's plenty of 10sec LXs and more than triple the number of 11sec cars vs Jeeps. Again, this is just one part of the lure of the challenger to me.

I think if you take previous comments about versatility, practicality and all-around sleeper aspect, the Jeep wins out.

And I think we have a really great community here so in the end, I'm happy with my decision. As the OP asked, what other SRT8 would I drive -- challenger hands down.

To directly answer your question, the Jeep's aftermarket is not as good as charger/challanger/neon BUT it is getting better. I have seen many developments in just the year ive been here. It seems to me all the upgrades are there, just not as many options for each upgrade (example there are maybe 2/3 supercharger kits for jeep but 4/5 for challenger, just an example). But if you want 11's you can get it in the Jeep and its EASY to get 12's.

As far as the SRT models, i have contemplated all of them at some point and the Jeep has the most going for it IMO from rarity, performance, utility, AWD, towing, cargo room, and comfort and thats why i chose it.

+2008 interior and front lights are sligthly different from 2006-07
+2009 you get the perfomance guages 0-60, 1/4mile, 1/8mile...etc

2006-07 the interior is light gray ( anyone with this model to confirm). 2008-10 the interior is black with carbonfiber inserts in the middle cosole and the doors around the window button.

Is this a serious question in a Jeep forum? Oh go for the Caliber brosuph, for sure dude man...

Moreso, choosing a vehicle should come down to you, your preference, and requirements. I understand you're looking for suggestions, but assuming you are going to different forums and asking this, you're are going to get the same answer, respectively, maybe a couple of people on each forum that give in to a different SRT. Test drive each SRT that you are interested in, that fit your needs, or lack thereof, and that are reasonably priced for you. I could never drive a compact car, no matter how cool it might look, and the faster the match box is, easier it is to die in the cast metal coffin, so Neon and Caliber are out of the question for me, never thought about it once, let alone twice. Weigh out things like mileage, do you care that you might have to gas up twice a week? Do you want extra room in the rear, or is cargo space not important? Do you like 4 or 8 cylinders? Do you prefer a compact death trap to a sleeper SUV, or maybe you prefer a retro coupe to a 5-door hatch back? Maybe you like a mid-level luxury beast over a family sedan turned speed demon? Drive each, sleep on it, drive it again, sleep on it, and pull the trigger. Then report back when you've decided that the Jeep put the biggest smile on your face.

For me, it was the Jeep FTW. Once I wear out my current Jeep SRT8, I'm going to buy another one, this thing is just flat out addicting man! I know that now, and I know that isn't going to change, unless something truely amazing comes out between now and like a year and a half. There isn't much about this thing that isn't just ***in amazingly fun. Being able to being able to beat 90% of the cars on a given road...just some random road - throw a dart at a map...and then loading up your friends, bags, and snowboards, and drive out of town to board for the weekend - all for under $50K new or $35K used!? Can't beat that sh!t man.

I am sensing a little sarcasim. I didnt come here for you all to pick out the car for me. I was merely asking for suggestions and the aftermarket selection of this vehicle. I understand that most are going to automatically post "Jeep FTW" without an explanation of the pros and cons. So to be honest, I kind of ignore them. I know most vehicles have consistent problems. Wether it may be air conditioning problems or transmission problems, I don't know. You cant find those things in a test drive. Plus, I mainly look to have a fast vehicle or else I would just go and purchase a Yaris and not think twice about it. To clear things up, the only other forum I have been on is the SRT-4 Caliber forum, and I have only considered SRT vehicles. I have recently sold a couple of items and have more money now. So I have decided to do more looking around. I am wanting an around town car with plenty of power. If you cannot tell by my profile picture, I have a car in the works that would blow by most GCSRT-8's except for amazingly modded ones. It is a 1967 Chevelle SS with a 454 that is pushing around 600 HP. So yeah, I already have a very fast car...

No sarcasm, just poking some fun. And it was just that: in fun. Picking out a car is a fun time, I'm not trying to give you a hard time at all. And I never said anything about "owning a fast care already" so I'm lost there.

Good luck on the hunt bud.

Let me approach this from a different angle;

I love my Jeep to death, and my Magnum as well. ALL SRT vehicles are very different in drive and feel.

As far as the Jeep is concerned, you do not want one if:

1. Gas mileage is important.

2. You are a very big guy and need alot of interior space.

3. You like to do smoky burnouts.

4. You need a very luxurious cabin.

5. You don't like being noticed on the road.

6. You don't like to spend a ton on tires.

7. You have to put custom rims on everything you own.

Otherwise, the Jeep is for you.

The only thing on your list that I like is the burnouts, haha. But I can do without it. Plus the feeling of being pinned to your seat is amazing. I think the stock rims are pretty sweet. The SRT team does really well with the choosing of rims.
