: Alcantara steering wheel cover
pjvreede 04-14-2007, 09:40 AM I love my Jeep, but miss the "thick" alcantara steering wheel cover that was on my BMW ZHP (performance package). Anyone know anybody who makes an alcantara (or alternatively the ultra-suede material used in our seat inserts) that will fit on our Jeep's steering wheel? I tried emailing "wheelskins", but no response.
I searched hi and low and wasn't able to find an exact match for our suede. I've gone the wheelskins route (very short term) a few vehicles back, and though their material was nice, I hated the 'home-stitched' look. Find a high end auto upholsterer and they'd be able to give you the results you're looking for.
I think this would be a GREAT mod!

Love those wheels, B.T.W. (much nicer than your old ones IMHO). Would any of your automotive interior connections have any idea on who does this kind of stuff?. Maybe InfernoSRT8 may have some connections, given the work he's having done on his dash?
DRIHEAT 04-14-2007, 03:15 PM I checked with Startech in CA a while back and they said there would be a fat, trick steering wheel for the Jeep. After 3 months, called back, nothing yet. I can wait. Hell, I'll drive to CA to have Brabus (Startech) put it on right when they finally have them 4 sale.:D

Yeahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. That's what I want! Who, What, Where?
idealrides 04-14-2007, 06:49 PM I bought a half yard of this automotive-grade foam-backed alcantara from an ebay seller in London for something like $25 shipped and it was enough material to do 3 steering wheels. With the foam lining it makes the wheel nice as squishy which I like. So I just brought it by a local upholstery shop and I had them sew it on using a factory style baseball stitch. After it took the owner of the shop about 2 hours to install he didn't know what to charge so I gave him $100 and he was happy.
I think the floormats are made by Catch-All, or maybe Husky. As long as they have the rolled edge then you're all good.

Better watch the pepper spray in the summer, if the interior gets too toasty you might be in for a surprise...

Since I worked in corrections, I get to keep some O.C. in the monster too. I have a 2,000,000 SHU rated GUARDIAN brand SRT fogger (By the way, that "SRT" stands for "Special Response Team", not the SRT we all know and love :) .
Excellent mod, cost me $0, and I'm convinced that if I had to get sprayed again, I'd be able to crack a low 12 in the 1/4 mile on foot.
idealrides, how hot is yours?

I don't know what the SHU is on my small can, but I'm pretty sure it's the same formula as the fire-extinguisher sized bottle of riot mace my brother has in his truck. He's on the special response team... but no matter how much I ask he won't give me one of their BDU shirts that say SRT in big letters across the back.

Ahhhh that stinks dude. Our shirts don't say SRT or anything, they're just black t-shirts. Our tac-vests say "Special Response Team" on the back though :)
Mine is the fire extinguisher sized bottle - called a "fogger". O.C. comes in 3 dispersal methods - Stream (most common), Foam (looks like hair mousse), and Fog (like mist). The foggers are used in riots or mass-control situations, they look really cool :D
ulikeit 04-17-2007, 09:51 PM I just carry a 9mm. It sprays hot stuff too! But that is really a last resort. I rather just run you off the road J/k!!!
