Just a quick question. I just purchased a Volant intake (Southern Hotrod, excellent customer service!) and have all the other stuff to fad up the snorkel. I was a little concerned about water getting sucked up into the air intake during heavy rain. Is this cause for concern? I have read a lot about this mod, however I have not read any comments on this matter. Sorry if this has already been covered. Thanks in advance.

Ouch! Candyman, thanks for the link. I guess there is some risk? Anyone else want to ring in on this?

I don't think it's anything to worry over at all. I can't see any damage due to driving in a heavy rain storm. Worst case, if you had to drive through flooding water that was at or above the level of the lower brake duct. Even then, as long as the upper air duct was not restricted, all your air intake would occur through this duct and not your lower duct which is "restricted" with water.
For example, if you take a staw, put it in water, then put a hole in it the same diameter as the opening (well above the water line) and suck, you would get air and have a hard time getting any water.

On a ram air set up I had for a trans am, it came with a cap/plate that would fit over the inlet. It's tough to tell when its gonna rain and could be an inconvenience, but maybe there is some kind of 'cap' you could use to filter or block water on rainy days.

I was thinkin the same thin JT, however it would not be very easy to access. Especially if it was cold, raining, at night and outside, like perhaps at the end of a work day?
