Some of you recall my complaints with the grinding of what i thought was my transfercase. well i pulled some fuses so i didnt have to hear/ feel it untill i get it fix. put them back in today... awd is completely absent. no lights or codes either... very strange. i just broke my ancle so i dont know when i will get this into the dealer. anyone else have a simular experience?
ps. the limitted slip in the rear is crap. we neeeed eaton to pull through

How about a battery disconnect for 20 min (or only 10+ seconds if depressing the brake pedal for 10+seconds with the battery disconnected) to see if AWD resets?

I'm 99% sure that the rear diff is not a limited slip.

No reason for a LSD in an AWD vehicle

No reason for a LSD in an AWD vehicle
Why's that?
Not to bash, but you must not have driven or been in many high powered AWD vehicles then. LSD is a must, at the very least for the rear. Few members of the forum here spin the left front and right rear tires due to a lack of LSD. Friend of mine has an early build AWD Eagle Talon that made a lot of power, and would spin 2 tires on the same side. My Evo would smoke the right front tire on launches due to a lack of LSD in the front.

i dont think it's on jeep to give us a posi carrier. how many stock jeeps blow away the tires on a launch. seems to me that jeep got it right when determining the set up (power, convertor, gears, carriers).
now it's up to the aftermarket to supply us with a better carrier once power/traction has been exceeded. an auburn would be nice.

It's an electronically limited rear diff. Not the ideal performance solution.

isn't it limited by using the brakes?

Yep no such thing as a locker, manual or electric or air for a big Dana 44 yet but coming soon. Full locked axles on a full time all wheel drive do not work well on dry roads.

i figured. i have a detroit locker (full carrier) in the rear of my wrangler and an ARB air locker in the front and there's no way in hell i would put those in the cherokee. now if detroit made a truetrac posi carrier that would fit, i'd put that in the rear. i keep crawling under both vehicles to see if i can tell a difference between the dana 44s and from the rear, the housings look the same. the front, where the pinion gear goes in, the housing is different. i guess the only way would be to pull both covers and take come measurements. but what a pain in the ass.

im on the same page. had a detroit locker in my diesel and the was good for straight lines. much too agressive for a track. couldnt get one wheel to spin if i had to though. it was two smoking or nothing. what we need is a good limitted slip... like the one in the corvettes or my cts-v had a really nice one.
