Has anyone removed the top of the dash? Does the airbag come with it or is it removed separately from the airbag?

Thanks,
Scott

Do you mean the whole dash or just the part's over the speedo and radio

Just the dark grey part over the speedo/radio.

Just the dark grey part over the speedo/radio.

Have not had mine off, but I am 99% sure they are just a pull up and unsnap kinda deal. Hel in place with plastic retainers. Pretty sure that this is what Inferno said in a thread about recovering them.

Anyone?

yupper. I think in ge2's thread about his black finished pieces it mentions the same. Clips. A lift and pull type of deal.

Hmmm......

That is what I thought, but it seems tight around the airbag. That was why I was wondering if it had to come out too..

I'm confused.... there is no airbag near the humps over the radio and speedo.

Those two humps just pop off. No tools needed.

No, the whole top of the dash. I am referring to the passenger airbag.

It's a pretty detailed process. You have to remove the humps first, the radio and center cluster, then start unscrewing things. I have seen them out-- it's a big job.

Actually I have everything loose. It wasn't too bad. I just can't tell/see how it comes off around the airbag.

OK I will bite.... Why are you removing the dash pad?

I am installing a new audio system. It will have full surroound sound. I wanted to see about the possibility of mounting a center channel speaker, which looks to be a VERY diffitcult job, if I can do it.

FYI., I found no way to remove it without removing the airbag with it. I did get it out though! Not to bad, just a little tedious!

I did the same thing to my export model and had to remove the passanger airbag with the dash, it was quite a lot of messing around under there to get everything unbolted.
I was removing dash so that I could enlarge speaker mounts to fit Focal 3-way splits for my front stage and had to fit 4inch mids into the dash speaker positions.

Can you post pics? I'd be interested to see what it looks like with everything out.
